If it's on the right side for a right-footer, Robbo. The other side, Green.

I think there is much more upside associated with Johnson that with Jamar. At his best, Jamar provides shephards, blocks etc. but stil isn't a dominant tap ruckman. At PJ's best, which probably hasn't been seen yet, he can play forward, but again, isn't a dominant ruckman. So we do need to look to Meeson/Spencer or Naitanui/Warnock to get someone to help in the hitouts department.

At Geelong vs Brisbane match, he said one of the stands at Skilled Stadium was 'the worst stand ever designed for spectators' (well who else would it be designed for?)
-
I really rate Jarryd of Hawthorn. He's a terrific young player getting a game in a top 4 side.
He looks good now, but he looked way out of his depth against us (might have been his 1st game). Nonetheless, should be a fine player.

Travis Cloke was a F/S. IMO you can't count father-sons at all in this analysis because you've got no idea where they'd have been taken if clubs hadn't had first dibs. Either way, I wouldn't put him or Thompson in the same class as those mentioned by Bob. Burton might have a case, but it's debatable.
Yeh whoops screwed that one up. Anyway, just because Thompson isn't of the highest quality doesn't mean he's not a goal-kicking key forward. I'd still be happy with a forward of his ability at that stage of the draft.
I'm talking about star key forwards that you can build your side around. You can't build a side around any of the players you mentioned. However you could build a side around the players I mentioned.True, I was just naming some other forwards that were drafted later on. But yes, the ones you mentioned are star forwards around which a side an be based.
-
He might have been suggesting that his life isn't worthy of a book.
Yeah I thought that, but still a good one I reckon.
-
You don't need to use a top 2 pick to get a clearance winner.
But try picking up a star key forward outside the top 10. I don't think you'll find many.
Star key forwards-
Brown - Father son
Riewoldt - 1
Pavlich - 3
Franklin - 5
Hall - 12
Fevola - 30s
Richardson - Father son
Lloyd - Compensation
Lucas - 5
Given this, only Fevola was outside the top 12 in the draft. And only 2 out of 9 were outside the top 5!!
It just shows that if you want a star key forward then you have to pony up early when you have the chance.
Pretty exclusive list you've got there Bob. How about these:
Burton - 16
Bradshaw - 55
Cloke (Travis) - 39
Thompson - 82
So there are also ways to pick up long-term key forwards outside the top 12.

He's the AFL's equivalent of George W. Bush. On yesterday's coverage he said: 'That's one thing about Andrew Welsh. You just can't question his courageousness'
Last week he said: 'He's just a former shadow of himself' (as opposed to a shadow of his former self)
I remember seeing someone's signature here which has Schwarz saying 'On what?' in regards to writing his autobiography.
Any more to add to the collection?

3 weeks ago I thought Matthew Lloyd was finished. His past 2 games, however, have got me thinking otherwise.
Right now I think Jeff White is finished. So hopefully someone says something about him in the media and he finds some form.
In regards to Jamar, I was listening to SEN and Luke Darcy mentioned this one instance where Jamar was in the goalsquare against the shorter Leo Barry when we were entering the 50: instead of playing to his advantage (height and strength) and staying in the goalsquare for the kick, he tried to make a lead, playing into Barry's advantage (speed). It goes to show Jamar does not have the brains or nous to play AFL footy. He's not the future.

I still think Wheatley should receive the first kick from, say, CJ, and then kick long over the top of the opposition's zone onto the wing.
-
I'm glad CJ got given a difficult task, even more glad that he succeeded (somewhat). Now let's pray for consistency.

How do you expect Warnock to be racking up stats when Freo have a number one ruckman like Sandilands? To compare his stats with Cox's at the same age is a little spurious. Given more opportunity at number one he might be more impressive.
Very good point. Warnock in Sandilands' shadow may well be far different to Warnock the no. 1 ruckman. His age is a huge factor.
-
I get the feeling Cox will be rested for the remainder of the year. They'll fix his foot up. Not only does this destroy my Dream Team but it reduces significantly their chances of more wins.
-
I thought Davey was OK. What he did was good. Just not quite enough of it. I'd rate his performance 6/10.
I miss the days where he was feared by the opposition's defence.
-
No Kosi. No Sherman.
Carroll to Freo for Warnock sounds alright, but I'm not convinced Warnock is anything special given what I saw on Friday night.
Getting rid of Petterd would be folly IMO.
-
How did Davey go? Didn't hear much of him on the radio.
Sounded like Bate, PJ and Dunn were our best.
-
I would think that his reprimand should mean he goes for a week. That was comparable to the one on Selwood, so he should be cited.
Thought Dunn was gonna get smashed today but Goodes only had 12 disposals.
-
i thought an exceptional effort after quarter time...however, that 50m penality killed us
we could have won if it wasnt for that
That was bad but Dunn's miss when the margin was about 16 points was worse I thought. It came just before the 50m; that was a real chance.

Last year at least you had the choice of every player from every team. That way I could put Dale Thomas. I hate him.
-
Just take a look at the list of players the survey offers under the question 'Who is the player you most love to hate?':
Alan Didak Paul Medhurst Josh Carr Barry Hall
Jason Akermanis Mathew Lloyd Stephen Milne Jeff Farmer
Warren Tredrea Mathew Richardson Anthony Rocca Jeff White
Russell Roberston Kane Pettifer Cain Ackland Brendan Fevola
Jeff White!?! And most fans wouldn't know who Cain Ackland is. I for one didn't know he was still on Carlton's list until he popped up a few weeks back.
And of the offerred players in the 'Who is the AFL's sexiest player?', Aaron Davey and Robbo represent the MFC.

Dal Santo is great when he has the footy
Its when he doesnt is why i dont rate him at all
Dal Santo in a nutshell. We don't need another midfielder who isn't prepared to run back, work hard without the ball and man up.
-
I'd actually like to see us go into a match with the same team as the previous week. I would however like to see Valenti get another go, probably at the expense of Yze. At least Sydney doesn't have the speediest of midfields, so our leg-speed shouldn't be as much of a concern this week.
-
Just held a press conference and said that he has 'stepped aside' from the presidency, presumably until his trial is complete or whatever.
-
I know nothing about Watts (is he related to Fergus?) but if by the end of the year if he is as good as is currently predicted, I would take him as a part of a solution to the forward line. But at the moment, Naitanui does more than play, he might get people into the ground to watch.
In regards to Meesen, when he was drafted, we had pretty much the same ruck scenario as we do now (save for Spencer on the rookie list), so it seems to me as though he was selected knowing that we would, over the next few years, be looking to overhaul the ruck division for the future. So I don't think he will be cut this year. Who knows, until he gets out there and plays, maybe he will take PJ's spot.
Who at the mfc would you have take "the" kick?
in Melbourne Demons

There's only one MFC player who instils greater fear in me when kicking for goal and that's Jamar.
