Jack Watts - Confirmed #1 Pick in 2008 Draft - Booyah!!!
titan_uranus replied to Tex's topic in Melbourne Demons
I know what you mean, but Hodge is a class player that would be a walk-up starter in any team, inlcuding Geelong. I wouldn't be unhappy if Watts ends up being our 'Hodge'. -
Cats keen for Prismall to sign on If he wants to stay at Geelong, they'll keep him.
-
Yeah I agree. When you look at the MCC areas for matches like Melb v Carlton, QB etc, theres a respectable number of MFC supporters, but when you look out at the Southern Stand there's usually plenty more opposition supporters. I'd say the problem is people not wanting to pay for a ticket to watch the MFC 'play' football.

I thought you were set on Naitanui. Good to see you've been converted mousey... -
Yep, that's right HT. North finished lower than Adelaide on the ladder, meaning they finish 8th overall, Adelaide finish 9th.
-
I just hope he learns from his many mistakes this year, because he's key to any success we're to have in the next 5 years.
-
I kinda wish he'd played the 11 games he needed this year to make the 200 club, if only to serve as recognition for his unbeatable workrate and determination.
-
Even so though, if the general consensus amongst the Demon faithful was that a red jumper was the better choice, I'd expect a much higher percentage. But then again, I'm probably just getting a bit worried because I can't stand the thought of us running out next year in white.
-
Add that to the fact that he was one of few players in the team who gave 100% at all times this year. Criticism at the moment is unwarranted IMO.
-
I have to say, I'm surprised to see only 35 out of 107 go for the red and blue only jumper, suggesting the remaining 72 prefer a white jumper. If that's the case, I don't know if a red and blue clash strip will be on the cards.
-
Adelaide won't be 4th, Bulldogs unlikely to make third, St Kilda unlikely to finish that far down.
-
Yeah I guess so. But the board could have at least had some better ideas.
-
Thanks mate.
-
NOOOOO! They're through to the semis. God damn it I hate them so much.
-
I don't really understand why any nickname idea has to be associated with the Gold Coast. Look at the existing clubs. There aren't too many Lions in Brisbane, or Hawks in Hawthorn, or 'Blues' in Carlton. What I'm trying to say is there isn't a necessity to have a nickname that goes with the location. So, for some examples, it could be the Gold Coast Kings, or Gold Coast Chargers. Really, anything's better than the Gold Coast Nothings, as they have now become known.

Question regarding fixturing with 17 teams
titan_uranus replied to titan_uranus's topic in Melbourne Demons
Ah, I didn't think of 3 teams having a bye each week. So I guess there'll be more than 22 rounds. -
When the Gold Coast team arrives in 2011, there will be 17 teams, meaning that one club will have a bye each week, right? So, given that each club will have the same amount of byes, does that mean that there can only be 17 rounds of football? I mean, there couldn't be more, because then some clubs would have more byes than others. So does that mean that each team will play each other team once, with one bye, and then finals?

Hawthorn vs that other Red, WHITE & Blue AFL club
titan_uranus replied to Tigers Dayz's topic in Melbourne Demons
I think the Dogs made a severe tactical error by announcing that they were virtually finished for the home and away season once they were locked in to the top 3. No coincidence that, as the certainty over their position on the ladder firmed, their form went down the gurgler. What's worse is you would think that they'd been preparing for this final for 6-8 weeks now, and came with a whole bunch of crap match-ups and a game plan that didn't work. They're gone. Might not beat their opponent next week. -
I'm guessing the club did this as a test to see what people thought, but the only way one of those jumpers was going to be announced was if there was an overwhelming response to one of them over the other. Like maybe 80-20 or something. I reckon it would have been something like 55-45, which for the club probably wasn't definitive enough.
-
So is there going to be a thread for each player to review their season? I like it. As for Buckley, someone has got to tell him he's not Superman. Once he learns that he can't beat everyone, then I think we'll begin to see him making some smarter decisions.

I got my response yesterday afternoon (so about 24 hours, no complaints there), but not from Martin Cox, but from a receptionist... Anyway, the response was: "Thank you for your feedback, and continued support of the Melbourne Football Club. As you may be aware, the AFL criteria is extremely specific with regard to clash guernseys. We are required by the AFL to have a lighter colour as determined by them, in order to avoid any clashes. Based on the results gained from the the recent guernsey choice poll, we are attempting to negotiate and produce a guernsey that pleases a majority of members and supporters. We will be keeping members and supporters up to date and involved in the process as it continues, and as our negotiations with the AFL continue." Completely ignored my question as to whether white was the club's preferred colour, which kinda angers me, but I can understand them not having enough time to respond to all the emails. I had thought that there was a good chance of getting a red jumper, but now I'm not so sure.

NAME THESE LITTLE KNOWN DEMON PLAYERS
titan_uranus replied to LeBron James's topic in Melbourne Demons
Horroll sounds a lot like horror. Appropriate. -
And Sydney's Ben Mathews has retired effective immediately http://www.afl.com.au/News/NEWSARTICLE/tab...px?newsId=67092
-
Yeah, I would have thought there were worse players on their list than Armstrong. Oh well. At least he has a premiership medallion.
-
This is the mascot. You'd think he would wear colours similar to that of the jumper, so I'm thinking more yellow than anything, which avoids some of the clashes (e.g. with Sydney, us, Adelaide, Freo etc).
