I think Goodwin has had enough and is drawing a line in the sand for our culture perhaps, maybe Jack is distracting players with his nice guy attitude to all things football and life. Pre season something happened and this last fall out must be to do with his recovery from injury, as it kept dragging on. I think that's possibly whats happened here. If Watts is an issue, I'm happy for him to go and our culture to more tougher. No more Mr Nice Guy, we need to win premierships, not have nice teammates.

Makes me wonder if they are playing along with this talk so we get a decent return for Jack in a trade. Who knows mate, it's all smoke n mirrors out there.

I can deal with losing Watts but to hear there is divide and infighting? Maybe the questions asked of Goodwin are fair? We can't afford anymore of this off field crap, I guy like Lever could pull out or stay away in the future. We need to get this right.

He doesn't want to go, he wants to stay. It's the club pushing him out the door. Which makes that weird TV stunt last week even stranger. Barrett said on radio last night that Watts had lost the patience of many at the club, whatever that means, I don't know. Can only assume it's to do with his preparation as Jones said and lack of effort.

So what do people think if we lose both Hogan and Watts? Who do we get? How do we improve our forward line? What would freo offer up that we can get? I can't see Weid replacing Hogan and we need some ready to go forwards.

Jay Clark is apparently saying we are offering $750,000 over 5 years which is probably more close to the mark.

I actually agree with you, I think there is concern over Vineys disposal, have always said that. However comparing the two, I haven't seen a player like Viney will himself in such a way in a Melbourne jumper for quite some time, he wants to win. Compare that to Jones and Viney is the standout leader IMO. Also worth noting that Viney played through the whole year it seems with his foot

I don't think it'll matter, I think the crux of it is Jake and his GF want to come back home to Victoria anyway.

As I said, interpret it how you like. Even Viney went onto the Footy Show and said as much that Jones cracked it at the start of the year, plus Goodwins interview. I'm sticking to what I said. I don't rate him as a player, let alone captain. He's a tryer, but a very limited one at that.

I'm not getting into semantics about this, interpret it how you like. As I said, Goodwin said as much on SEN, he revealed to Jones in a game of gold with the McDonald boys. Jones is rated way too highly around here by his fan club.

Well he cracked the sooks about being a co-captain so it makes you wonder!

Even worse then, the coach didn't think he could do it himself.

I think the fact that Viney was voted in as co-captain clearly shows Jones isn't up to it by himself.

What does Jones add to Viney that Viney doesn't have? My answer is nothing. From the grandstand, Jones adds nothing on-field and Viney has already shown what and when to stand up and inspire. Personally I'd let Viney take the reigns now, he's a rare breed who has no problems shouldering the load IMO. I'm far from impressed with Jones' leadership.

I think they just make everything up as they go anyway, just like the umpiring and MRP.
