I had my doubts coming into the season and was buoyed by the way we’ve played and the potential for improvement that lies within our numbers from the first 5 rounds. Last night, whilst immensely disappointing, doesn’t have me reverting back to doubts. We were knackered and Brisbane were absolutely desperate for the win. [censored] happens. No one on here can tell me that Trac, Viney and Oliver will play like that very often. I’d be surprised if a bug hadn’t got the group whilst away. Take the week, then we’ve got 3 tough games. I’ll reserve judgement until after the Carlton game.

I'll be making some judgement if we lose to the Tigers 😒. Their injury list is horrible at present. Possibly 13 players out including several important ones.

I think there’s a typo there. BBB out. Hore in. Agree. BBB cooked.

This is BBB every year. He cannot string games together and clearly his body gets sore after a few weeks. He needs to be managed much better to get the full impact from him over the season. The Dees need to me more proactive in his management.

Well he's two disposals above Bbb. .Fritta and Petty the latter who has had zero touches.

Petty no touches in a half.....hmmm.

Not sure why he thought his [censored] poor effort chasing that ball to the boundary was so funny.

This is simplistic. We are down in all areas aside from goal accuracy compared to last year and we are getting smoked by a team that is going moderate to good in all areas aside from accuracy. Just so happens there slotting them tonight.

    Easy shots given.

Would love an explanation on how our game style is "horrible"

I think we've been playing quite aesthetically pleasing footy this year.

That person probably hasn't watched a Dee's game this year. Hopefully they're in for a rude shock as the Dees stream the ball forward with crisp forward entries, time and time again.

Concrete hands needs a mentor and a lot of work to fix

He may be better playing a different role hard hands and small body can't work in contested situstions

Yeah, I think it's something that has to be worked on. I would expect the club has someone to assist with this. He is a lovely kick for goal and the Dees want him having as many shots at goal as possible.

I agree his output has been limited this year, but his work rate in the last quarter v Port included lots of crashing packs and 2nd efforts up the ground. This attitude and willingness to compete secures his place in the 22.

Does anyone else see any problems with JVR's dukes? He has been getting good hands to the ball but nothing seems to be sticking. He's been busting packs but at the same time has spilled a few marks I expected him to take.

the amount of whinging about the umpires - from both sets of supporters - is pretty extraordinary

I actually thought the game was fairly well officiated overall, yes, a few absolute clangers but that's pretty standard, the umps aren't robots.

Derm just doesn’t rate us , so great to shove it up him.

Gee that was a good battle.

May and Trac and Clarry,  not at their best , Kozzie too.

Away  from home , hostile crowd , huge win bloody huge!

I think Derm rates us, how couldn't he. Derm loathes us though, and it eats him up inside that the Dees are a quality side.

I wonder if Petty's "quiet game" in VFL combined with BBB's good game makes selection easier this week.  Even if BBB has a "just reasonable" game this week and Petty shows decent form then BBB gets a rest and Petty goes to Adelaide.

Is that a new rule?  The ball was in the outer ⅓ of the behind space, yet it was balled up in the midline?

Did the umpire not call high contact on McDonald because he thought it out of play, or because he doesn't know the rules?  Maybe both.

With regards to you first comment Mono, I would rest him. I feel as though three games and his knee starts getting inflamed, he's unable to launch at the footy and gets pushed of his lead too easily. If he has a week off, it may give him time to recover and go again.

Salem good, not great. Sparrow was very good v Carlton a couple of weeks back, and having Petracca, Viney and Clarry performing, gives him some time, needs to lift though.

JVR competed in the ruck even though undersized. So much more competitive  than Schache.

If he wasn't before, Schache really is a break glass option going forward.

Hasn't played much at AFL level (19 games.. 12 of which were in 2021). Not sure about his VFL form

Ex basketballer with five years at the Lions

Not expecting much but hopefully will surprise

I like this from an interview he did with SEN when joining MFC

“I can bring a lot of energy to the club, first and foremost,” Fullarton added.

“On the field my skillset is not like Luke Jackson, but I sort of watch him play a lot and I feel like I can keep progressing and emulate my game off him.

“I can get around the ground, I’m pretty good at ground level and I feel like that’s what I can bring to Melbourne.”

    https://www.sen.com.au/news/2023/10/25/why-fullarton-departed-the-lions-and-why-he-ended-up-at-the-demons/

So not unlike Grundy who can also get around the ground and is pretty good at ground level.

    My concerns are:

Too predictable from our kick ins. May kicks to the right wing to find Max everytime. No creativity keeping the oppo guessing

Never have players at the front/back of the contest

    No flare

However, only Round (0)! so we have 3-5 wks to get it sorted. Still confident

    I wish Round 0 actually meant pre-season. I want a do-over.

Brundy is an AA ruckman, probably the second best in the league, and had a point to prove.

He was sold out by his team mates who didn't talk at all.

So would you prefer him not to play, and have another Spargo / Laurie / whomever in hi space.

26 disposals is modest by his standards but a decent contribution nevertheless.

Clarry needed the run and will get up to speed quicker playing AFL.
