Old chestnut - continues to divide and torment many
DemonDave replied to Soidee's topic in Melbourne Demons
Do either of the Pies or Essendrugs give a cent of the match takings to the Anzac Appeal? As far as I know they dont.... -
Michie completed the 'activation' session today i was there. Garlett wasn't there but i was assured by one of the players that he was just getting a later flight. not much to report it was pretty low key stuff just a light jog and quite a lot of huddled chat. It started drizzling during session but Salem was as slick with the sherrin as he was one of the two soccer balls out there.

I'm flying over for this one. Not confident at all, given we've now seen how poor Gold Coast after their thrashing at the hands of the Saints, and how woeful we were after quarter time last week. Still, looking forward to seeing the Adelaide Oval, do they have Coopers on tap at the ground, or only stinking West End Bitter?

We went a couple of times on the scenic railway, and Jack Watts was for at least 30-40 minutes during that time (just after 10AM) seated on a bench by himself with a long line of willing auto/photo hunters in front of the line for the roller coaster, he seemed very relaxed and engaging with them. And Jones did spend quite a bit of time around the same time hanging out in the New Balance Run Challenge tent, so those two weren't hiding away in a back room anywhere were both out working the crowd well.

Apart from Melbourne having a presence at Chinese New Year? http://demonland.com/forums/index.php?/topic/37944-kudos-to-the-mfc-at-chinese-new-year/ I dont get what Family Day was supposed to do other than be for families. I went along with mine and had a cracking time as usual. There's a season launch next Monday if thats more your thing for the adults, and a pink breakfast the week after to continue our awareness campaign for Breast Cancer. Oh and that whole game that we dedicate to it with a curtain raiser of womens football. Which has a concerted media push all week. http://www.melbournefc.com.au/the-club/events

KUDOS TO THE MFC AT CHINESE NEW YEAR!
DemonDave replied to The Song Formerly Known As's topic in Melbourne Demons
Maybe we should play an exhibition game there..what could possibly go wrong? Oh wait.... -
They didnt play the theme song at the end. At 8:00 on the dot, to the second, it was over. No song.

Ye Georgiou RR Elsternwick is exactly the suburb I was reaching for when writing that. No idea where I got Aspendale from! Just from the half muttered aside from PJ, he wasnt happy about the rumblings of trying to oust us from Aami either.

Interestingly a question was posed about potential for a standalone VFL team. While it was unanimous amongst the club that would be the preferred option, there is a binding partnership agreement with Casey in place until December 2018, and would be prohibitively expensive to break, so we're stuck with that alignment till then. The "Red and Blueprint" was nowhere to be seen tonight, replaced with "Respected and Great", or something to that effect. With 6 key pillars to take us forward. Docklands has never been looked at as a potential new training ground, Aspendale Elsternwick had but would cost $37 million to get completed, E Gateway is a possibility we might look at down the track. We are looking for something that will fulfill our needs in ten years time, right now there's nothing that we 'need' at AAmi that we don't have but we're looking to future proof. Intimidated that some government and sports admin types would prefer us out of Aami, and the Rebels based there in our place. Just on the training levels, the accepted amount to have been considered to have had a full 'uninterrupted' pre season is considered 25 sessionsby Feb 14. And the number that have, touch wood, completed that are way up on last year as previously stated. Great to see Ron Barassi in attendance, he will be the voice of a new rebranding marketing campaign to kick off in the next few weeks. Pretty straight forward meeting, Roos ended his speech with a quip that Petracca was the best ever footballer to come out of Beverly Hills, and on that light hearted note he was off!

I always look forward to this, the first 'official' club function of the year! Will be there as usual. Its a bit more vanilla after they stripped away the Info night portion of it, but always good to take in the optomistic atmosphere, and soak in the magnificence of a tranquil MCG from behind that glass.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - ALEX NEAL-BULLEN
DemonDave replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Is this our first hyphenator from SA since Trent Ormond-Allan?? -
A week is long time in football. This time last week he was a star.

A quick look at this trade via google, the Swans got pick #26, a 2nd Rounder from St Kilda for these two. Turned into Brett Meredith who returned an underwhelming 16 games and ten goals in 5 years of footy..
-
They already traded for a muscled up spud this year in Josh Hunt.

So will the be calling this grand plan "The Red and Blue Print" ? Here's photo of those deadbeat Yankees 'packing them in' at their expensive concrete monstrosity: https://twitter.com/EmptySeatsPics/status/474606905563021312/photo/1 Bums.

From the actual Premiership side 14 players were in attendance: Bernie Massey, Tony Anderson, Frank Davis, Brian Dixon, Bluey Adams, Bryan Kenneally, Barrie Vagg,Graeme Jacobs, John Lord, Barry Bourke, John Townsend, RDB, Hassa Mann and Ken Emselle. I think I got all of them. Doc Roet was in the UK, and they did a somewhat unsuccesful Skype session with Tassie Johnson, who is struggling after recently losing a leg unfortunately. And I think Graham Wise couldnt make it there today but will be at their lunch tomorrow. Speaking to Bryan Kenneally after the function (who along with Hassa and Dixon did the organising for todays event), he mentioned they've also invited as many of the 2nds and 3rds from the lists that they could get in contact with, along with spouses or offspring of deceased past players. Also present were Ray Groom, Kerry Rattray, Garry Byers and a few others whose names escape me. They were all great blokes to chat to, heard some fantastic anecdotes (including a still on-going fued between surviving match committee members families of the time and the Smith family).

Jack Trengove out for year with navicular fracture
DemonDave replied to Arrow's topic in Melbourne Demons
Josh Mahoney interviewed on SEN just now, stated that Jack had complained about not being able to 'push/take off' earlier in the year, and scans then showed nothing. Worsened pain after this week and new scan confirmed it. Good luck in recovery Trenners... Also, mentioned that Garland would play Casey seniors this week, and Hogan in 2-3 weeks would play most likely at Casey.. -
If this season turns out how we all fear
DemonDave replied to Demon_Tingles's topic in Melbourne Demons
Yeah sure, that would change everything overnight! Lucky there weren't internet forums around between 65 and 87 or we would be suffering from a massive identity crisis right now from changing names so many times -
Anyone else see him tear sheds off another journo after Sunday nights loss for apparently eating during his press conference? And then point and eyeball him/her again on his way out of it? yet he was quite happy to take good coin as a media pundit in his gap year, and play that game. The man is a sanctimonious bullying pr1ck who picks the easy targets for his ire all the time. I'd put him, fat ed and figjam in a phone booth and let them settle their differences.

Practice Match - Melbourne v Hawthorn @ Casey Fields
DemonDave replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
We played three finalists from last year in our preseason. I think thats a great introduction to realities for our list this year. Our Rnd 1 opponents have played the Dogs, GWS and Port and still not won a thing.
