  1. Yep, I'm with ya DD. And I get the tactic of wide kickouts from the goal square into the flanks to negate risk. That's playing the percentages but yeah, I think our hand and footskills have erroded and so has our player's confidence to thread the needle and take the game on. Disco would normally be a great rebounder, our last quarter and going into our shells really cost us dearly against the saints. We've got a pretty solid list, I'm loving the idea of watching our team take the game on next year. In the words of the wonderful band Cable Ties - And it might be hopeless but I've gotta try it It's better than lying down and bringing on our fate
  2. I wonder too if the habit of leading through the centre square has been drilled out of them. I.e. why bother calling for it in the middle. We are a predictable hug the boundary line team as we leave defence almost always. The only time we went hard and fast was off turnovers off half back which was great to see. Apart from using turnover opportunities, we just don't seem to use the centre corridor much at all. Looking forward to a new coaching group
  3. This is one of the pieces that does my head in. Salem, sublime user of the ball but not so much anymore. Windsor was pretty good last year but not so much anymore. Viney used to be woeful, then learnt to lower his eyes about 3 or 4 seasons ago and is now terrible again. I still feel like we've let stands and skills slip over the last two years. Great game, great to see the effort and some more switching up today and faster movement for a good portion of the game. Our list isn't too bad. Our skills are generally deplorable. Way too many turnovers
  4. Deetime almost always we deliver
  5. That was just a brilliant little lead and kick to Roo. Gimme another 10 of those today please
  6. You probably just summed up the last two seasons
  7. Nah, we just need more entries 😁
  8. He had a really solid game
  9. It was one of the best games of footy I've watched this year. I'd urge anyone who hasn't seen the game to watch the replay from the start. And... It was almost the worst game. We were so lucky with that stupid free given to the lions right at the end [censored]. Such a great fight back for the Dees to get that last goal. Just awesome
  10. Dan Annabel 11 13 79 Defeated by Casey 12 11 83. What a ripper of a game
  11. Dan Annabel 11 13 79 Defeated by Casey 12 11 83. What a ripper of a game
  12. That was an atrocious free right in front of goal. Haha suck shiiiiiiiiit lions
  13. Mitch Hardy. Bloody awesome
  14. Geez Brown and his kicking. Could have won the game then
  15. And again, we go sideways instead of attacking the goals
  16. Sometimes we seem afraid of the goals
  17. Great scrapping goal by AJ. Go Dees
  18. Geez the umps aren't rewarding our tackles and have let a few head high hits to our players in marking contests go
  19. That was a super pack mark and goal by Kentfield
  20. I'm looking forward to hearing what Annabel did during his Xmas break
  21. Are we going to give our third goal in a row in the last seconds of the quarter? I've been following this club for decades and the one consistent thing we've always done incredibly well is Deetime. We just seem to always put in good efforts and then bloody lapse in the last couple of minutes. Really good game of footy. We're defending and transitioning really well but just not finishing.
  22. Great goal Bailey
  23. Roosy should at least be on the selection panel. Even better an advisory role for the next footy department. He seems still really invested in our club and seems to want us to succeed. What if Instead of department reviews when things go south every few years, we had someone like Paul Roos provide an oversight role to the club. Maybe a consilierge role to the coaches. I guess it worked to in the original handover. What would it be like to have him involved again? He's so well respected by everyone at the club. Let's see if we can use him in a part time basis to help us continually improve rather than reviews when things turn to poo.
  24. Yes definitely a focus on skills and crafting a game plan Is what we need from a refreshed coaching panel. Is Buckley too arrogant or aloof? I'm not sure. Goody was truly loved by the players, we don't want to go to the other extreme and get another Neeld. Somewhere in between perhaps. Thanks to the poster that collated the win loss records of experienced coaches. Horse way out in front. Yes Sydney had advantages but have a listen to Paul Roos interview on ABC sport a couple of days back. He really really rates our squad and it gave me a lot of hope hearing him talk about our list
  25. I'm not driving through 18 pages, so not sure if this has been shared. but this was a great little interview with Paul Roos. Gotta love him. ABC listenGoodwin sacked: Roos on why now and who's next - ABC listenIf Melbourne hasn't called John Longmire yet, club officials are 'berefet in their duties'. That's the view of the man who preceded Simon Goodwin, Paul Roos. In this bumper episode Roos reflects on Go
