On top of that, two of their AFLW players were done this week for drug use.

Shocking culture at Sydney going back decades to Swans player Dale Lewis’ 2002 statement that 75 per cent of AFL players had tried illicit drugs.

The Swans’ culture should receive saturation coverage in the media over the next week.

And Wicks isn’t the only Swans player not to get a game this weekend. They have a bye.

Is the Herald Sun kinda like the sporting version of women's weekly.

So much stuff being printed based on stories rather than verified facts

It’s why the AFL for me has become unbearable to watch. If the Dees weren’t in it, I would’ve (and just about have) given it away years ago. It has become so business driven, and what is best for that business to succeed, that the football aspect has been neglected for some time now.

Grass roots local footy is so much purer and more enjoyable to witness. Go and get yourself a team to follow outside of the national/state leagues. It is way more fun to watch and be a part of. You feel like you’re part of a real community.

    Exactly right

One man has made a career of being a tough as nails competitor, the other has made a career of ducking his head. Just ask him.

And he's a special comments clown on channel 7 now. So. Still ducking his head into a bag of footy cliches

It should be weeks though. Open palm strikes to the solar plexus are identical to punches. If that’s a fine then that is a terrible precedent to set.

A strike is a strike. Can you strike someone in the head with an open hand and get away with it too. Seriously.

    The AFL is a circus.
But it's also so noveu and stylish. Every year, we get to try and work out what new interpretations of rules.
    What's in FASHION THIS YEAR?

This year I'm calling it "Pushin in the back is pretty sweet most of the time"

at 10:41 in the last quarter, at a centre bounce, the ball went to the edge of the square where a lions player was held by one arm while trying to take posession of the ball, then pushed in the back on to the ball as two other pies players raced in and pushed the ball back under the lions player and three of them laid on top of him while locking the ball into him. Then put their arms up of course.

Free kick collingwood - holding the ball.

This is called "a pressure act" by the highly paid exspurts at channel 7

Full credit to collingwood, their attack on lions ball carriers was immense and won them the game and.... the free kick count. 22 to 16.

The real winners tonight in this grand final rematch of course were CRYPTO.COM and OMO Ultra.

Thanks AFL and the media circus.

Anyone else find KAYO juddery as hell tonight?

  6. What I love about Jack, apart from his toughness is that he has never rested on his laurels. He's always looked to improve on his weaknesses

    His tackling,

He used to get cited so much for his hits remember, now with his judo / grappling skills, he just drags them down and wraps them up. I'm sure he still hurts them.

    His disposal,

his work on his disposal and forward work around the goals has transformed. He's that much cleaner with his disposals and attacking work now.

As @Superunknown mentioned to me last night, he lost the captaincy but never sooked about it, just kept on leading on the field.

He's not a Gawny type club man, he just goes out there and fights in the trenches every game.

He's carried the team on his back so many times to keep us in games.

We are very lucky to have him and it's a joy to watch him give 100 percent week in week out.

    Thank you Jack Viney

Trying to find info on any evolution in the Port Adelaide gamestyle,

Seems like Wines it taking more stoppages and spending less time forward which is hardly surprising or radical.

Marshall is taking a ton of marks (10 and 9) and creating many more goal assists than previous seasons, but both Marshall and Dixon have barely 50/50 goal accuracy. Maybe playing further out and taking their marks and set shots from further out?

Then again, maybe their forward stats are just skewed by the bizarre game against the Eagles. Finlayson 0.4, Dixon 3.3, Marshall 0.3, Bergman 0.3. Could and probably should have been a 100 point win despite letting West Coast score 70.

Which brings up the next point - West Coast 70 and Richmond scoring 92 despite both games being dominated by Port suggests that Port are pretty leaky defensively, and all that despite no tall forward scoring more than one goal against them.

Hard to get much of a read on them other than that, with just two games to look at and against what is basically the second-last and third-last teams (with only Collingwood below).

Did I mention only Collingwood is below then. Because Collingwood is last - clearly 0-3 is lower than 0-2.

    Just recapping, Collingwood; the worst.

I think their leaky defence is a good reason to play Petty forward and smash them

Collingwood. This should be the only option in the poll. They're arrogant scum and their supporters have been violent and abusive at games I've attended.

Western Bulldogs a runner up for me. Had poor experiences at some of their games too.

I couldn't get over their (pies fans) behaviour last year. They beat us in a close final and then they  were angry and abusive after the game.

Happiness does need to seem to be in their DNA. Either just angry or gloatingly abusive when things go their way.

It must be blowing Nev Jettas mind.

Looks like we will need two of Hore, Petty and Tomlinson in the starting 22 to cover for May and Lever.

The Petty decision presumably comes down to how badly the FD want him in the forward line. Personally I think we will be OK with Brown and JVR forward as we were in the second half today, and therefore I'd go with Petty back. That also perhaps avoids the need to bring Tomlinson back if we think Hore can do the job.

If Tommo doesn't get a crack now, you'd wonder why he'd stay.

We'll see. I tend to think he won't get a run, but I like having Petty forward. We're just starting to find a groove up front now after two years of dysfunction

    Agree with all.

With the possible exception of the assessment of fritter's defensive work.

I thought he was average defensively last week, but he got the melksham role on Sicily, a gough job, and limited his intercept marking

He also got up the ground to help out defensively and laid a couple of big tackles.

I'm about to watch the replay, having watched it live, so I'll keep an eye on fritter.

I might be a bit harsh too. Just thought he jogged on a bit when most of the team just chased hard from start to finish.

  11. Just finished watching.

Ruthless footy. So good to see such variation going forward now. Just love it.

Petracca was just huge. That spoil and gut running to make it when the game was iced. True leadership and hunger. And he's havning fun!

Windsor is going to be a star for us.

Pickett is really finding his groove. invaluable

Clarry, How good was that kick off the side of his boot to a team meate on the wing while being crunched by two players in the third?

Sad to see May get crunched. Opprotnunity is there for Tommo to seize the day now. Surely they must bring him in.

Fritta, he got the goals but I still think he's a bit lazy with his defensive efforts.

JVR only got the one goal but I think he is going to be a massive forward for us. You can see his presence and cinfidence growing week to week now that our forward line is opening up. He's not a bad second ruck either.
He just keeps competing. He is taking a while but I still think he will be a Schwarta for us.

Commentators - The Wizard? Really? because he has a mullet or something? He kicked six behinds before getting a goal and still they pumped him up. Jeff Farmer, you must want to punch them. I do.
Can we get more race callers. Seriously. Huddo and Dwayne.

Free kicks, we lost the free kick count after slapping them most of the day. 9 goal win. Lost the free kick count 20 to 17.
Not that they'd try and even it up or anything.

    Bring on Adelaide. Yeah baby

And as for the Race caller bloke calling Frittata: ‘Fritz’- drove me nuts!

Even Hudson was doing it by the end of the game.

Surely someone on that stupidly expansive commentary team could have a quiet word to them to correct it.

I thought he did a pretty good job of just calling the game as he saw it though.

Unlike [censored] like Huddo and BT who have to start shouting like they've had their cruits grabbed just because someone flew for a mark or kicked a point.

God I miss Dennis Cometti and Drew Morphett.

Gimme more race callers and less shouting pillocks

    Cheers Brownie.

    I was wondering about JV.

He started in his usual fashion but seemed quiet for him in the second.

Was he playing a tagging role?

A very satisfying win with the added bonus of Bbb, Tmac and Oliver playing very good ones.

Oliver was equal bog with May for me.

I'm not sure. There's only so much I can see through Kayo.

    Others may know.

Thought he still had his usual solid game.

Yep. I'll put my hand up for being upset Tmac got the nod but he played very well.

Me too @leave it to deever

I wondered if both Tmac and BBB would be fit and fast enough. Such a bonus to see them play so well.

Seeing Clarry getting back to his best and being happy and acknowledged by our supporters.

    Fast and creative ball movement

A more open forward line and lowered eyes / team first kicking

Watching Kozzys effort and skill through the midfield

    Variation in kick outs

Our captain adjusting his ruck work and dominating

    Windsor's lightening speed

    Our fitness and hard running

Our fantastic demon army honouring Gus

So many great things to recognise in that game

Seriously, the quality of this call was miles above channel 7. Except when Huddo called Kade Kyle.

And, both Hill and Hudson are back on the Fritz train. It drives me a bit mad.

They don't say "cricket pitz" why do they keep saying Bailey Fritz?
