Scene: AFL house. Gil McLachlan's office. Mark Evans: ... and I really should have not been involved in that decision. I would have thought good governance demanded it. Gil: Governance. Right. Excuse me one moment. (Gil types) https://www.google.com.au/search?hl=en-AU&q=govenence What is good governance? - Good Governance Guide www.goodgovernance.org.au/...governance/what-is-good-governance/ Good governance is about the processes for making and implementing decisions. It's not about making 'correct' decisions, but about the best possible process for making those decisions. Good decision-making processes, and therefore good governance, share several characteristics. Gil: So, what were you saying? Evans: Good governance demands it. It comes back to the integrity of the competition. Gil: Integrity. Right. Can you excuse me just one moment again?

After his first game for the Suns, he called his mum. Mum: Hello darl. How did it go today? GA: We lost. Mum: That's nice darl. What are your new teammates like? GA: It's funny, but they think I'm Jesus! Mum: That's nice. How do you know that? GA: Well, in the game, there was a minute go and we were three points down. I marked the ball 40 out straight in front. I called the boys in and said, let us now join together and bow our heads in a short prayer that the Lord may guide this kick home. And they said, Jesus Christ, what are you doing!?!?!?!

Lachie Whitfield under investigation

He said it's got a heart bigger than Phar Lap! Or was it that he tried to make it a senator? Hang on ... he said "Kingston Town Self Interest can't win this." No wait .. he said, "Ed, my boss is coming over for dinner tonight and ... Ed, will you get off the phone?!" -
It would not be beyond Eddie to make an offer like that, especially when his own legacy at CFC is coming under fire.

Well here it is straight from the horses mouth. Read into it what you will. Eddie McGuire flatly denies Collingwood has spoken to Paul Roos about coaching in 2018 It would seem strange for Roos to coach again given what he's said in the past about his missus. And if he wanted a non-coaching role we would have found one for him in 3 seconds flat.

The AFL have no stomach for irrelevancies such as these. How can they possibly affect the KPIs of the executives? Keep your eye on the ratings gate ball. According to my AFL predictor (in the Whitfield thread somewhere) ... 2. If it is known to the public, make a statement that it's no big deal. Nothing to see here. All going to plan.

Where, on bomber blitz? -
??? B*gger the money, I'm trying to figure out whether Alice will get done for loan sharking, drug dealing, or tax avoidance. Although it looks very much like poor chump Charlie, already out a donut and a chocolate cake, will be sent to play in Alice Springs. So maybe she'll get done for soliciting too. It's late. I think I may have eaten one of those cookies.

GWS have no imagination. Here are some other excuses which worked well against another psychotic woman. I ran out of gas. I had a flat tire. I didn't have enough money for cab fare. My tux didn't come back from the cleaners. An old friend came in from out of town. Someone stole my car. There was an earthquake. A terrible flood. Locusts! IT WASN'T MY FAULT, I SWEAR TO GOD! -
THE BOMBERS' DOPING SAGA - THE FAT LADY SINGS
Mazer Rackham replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in General Discussion
I reckon Jobe was given a nod and a wink by the AFL early on in the saga that the Charlie was not at risk. That they'd pull strings, get the players off, voila, Charlie is a non issue. Now, the delay is all about how they reconcile that with the players going down and all avenues of appeal exhausted. Imagine if a p!ssed off Jobe went public... -

I hope I can assume you are against drugs in sport. What should an anti drug agency be doing to ensure clean sport? How is your "ideal" anti drug agency structured and what does it do? -

EFC will be kicking themselves. They played their "rogue sports scientist" card poorly. Look where it got them. They should have come out on day 1 day 518 and admitted that the 34 players all had psychotic girlfriends that they were trying to avoid. That Gubby. What an operator. -

They didn't go looking. Whitfield hid IN CASE they went looking. As ever, the cover up is ten times worse than the original offence. But feel free to continue bagging ASADA based on nothing. They could use a break. -

You're not wrong. It seems that Lachie was simply trying to hide from his crazy girlfriend! Wow, context can explain everything. Giant Lachie Whitfield claims 'drug' texts a ruse as AFL anti-doping charges loom I suppose that also explains why Lachie missed the round 7 match against Carlton. In case his girlfriend tried to run onto the ground and force him to propose. -

They are shameless. Would they even notice? Now if a sponsor said they're disgusted and are pulling their dollars ......... -
EFC v the Hawks, eh .... I fondly recall not so long ago where, in accordance with the modern tradition, every year Tigers played Blues in the opening round. Every year, Tiges got their hopes jacked up sky high: this could be the year! By 10:30 Friday night their season was in tatters. Just fantasising here, but by god, it would be marvellous to see the EFC season in tatters by 10:30 on the Saturday.

It's well known that Cousins was not squeaky clean. But as you imply, there really is no comparison. Cousins was into "recreational" drugs, and although they can be performance enhancing, that's not why he took them. (Or so it appears from this distance.) Also he was in it for himself, not for any footy related reason. And, he was cunning enough to time his use so that the AFL testing regime, such as it was, never caught him. He's no angel, and probably lucky. Compare that to the coach-instituted team-wide doping programme at EFC, unprecedented and breath taking in its audacity. -

Gil likes a challenge. "Everyone said he couldn't keep it! That the rules didn't allow it. That there was no way the comp could permit it. Well, who's laughing now? (Apart from me and Jobe, that is.)" -
At a guess ... hold on to the pill?

Regrettably, Dawes was not "overtaken" in his role. He could not perform the role. Admire his work ethic and other qualities but his glaring, planet-size deficiency made it impossible for him to hold a spot in an AFL team.

The number one rule of the AFL is that there are no rules. They do what they damn well feel like doing. -

This sports lawyer is so invested in splitting hairs and throwing up clouds of legal obfuscation that he seems to have lost sight of his own assertion: "surely it's a fait accompli that Watson's Brownlow Medal, earned in the Bombers annus horribilis, will be stripped". I have more to say but am too disgusted at the thought that the AFL will adopt this character's line of thinking.
