Please tell me that some people share similar concerns especially after yesterdays game....?

Agree with you Titan. Right on the money. Have said it a million times. Bate needs to improve a hell of a lot in other areas of his game if he wants to be part of the future. Yesterday was shocking. I'm really getting sick of the injury excuses too. Next year will say a lot for where he is at with Petterd, Watts, Jurrah, Green, Sylvia and potentially another key forward. Bate is an extremely limited player. Morton did take a few nice marks yesterday but also made equally as many clangers when kicking. Also still needs work on the defensive side of his game as well as his want for the contest. I don't care how thin he is. He at least has to show that he wants to get the ball when he is required to. All in all I still have hope in Morton and think he does have a lot of room for improvement. It's a matter of whether or not that will happen though and if he wants it badly enough. Bate on the other hand is a major concern for me. Next year will give us a better indication I feel.

Bater predicting a massive pre-season
stevethemanjordan replied to RedDragon1972's topic in Melbourne Demons
Hope he is talking about himself. Must have a big one if he wishes to be part of the best 22 next year. A few have overtaken him this year. -
Understand what you are saying Daisy but you would hope the fitness/weight trainers at an elite level sporting club would know better than to let that happen.

Apologies. * Majority of this thread?

Umm no. But neither did we..? We got Tom Scully and Jack Trengove. Time will tell Steamin'. I'm still not going to cheer Jordan McMahon for winning a game of football, regardless of the outcome. Never have I stated that we should have lost to Carlton. I'm just confused as to why many on here aren't kicking up as much fuss about losing to Carlton if number one draft picks are such a priority. I'm sure we will end up a good side. Still takes more than high draft picks to win a premiership. Looks like Collingwood have a fair chance this year and I don't see too many top 5 draft picks running around their side. I just think it's sad mate. Everyone's counting their chickens before they hatch.

I'm with you chief. Never will I cheer against a guy who kicked a winning goal for his side after the siren. Gotta love bitter Melbourne supporters. Richmond have got Dustin Martin who it looks like will be equally as good as Scully and Trengove. People forget that we had the oportunity of gaining Kreuzer by losing to Carlton all those years ago. Would have gone a long way to solving our ruck problems I would say ! People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones... Congrats Jordan McMahon on being chosen to play AFL. Great achievement.

Wouldn't be opposed ! Back to the thread indeed... My view of Warnock. Robert Warnock seems to be showing some promising signs especially on the back of pretty much no pre-season. The guy is 23 and has played 31 career games. Anyone saying they are glad he didn't want to come to us is just another nuff nuff. They base it on a couple of early games with Carlton where he looked a bit shaky. I think Warnock has potential and would have been a fantastic pickup had he wanted to play for the dees. He is a developing player just like any other and if he was playing for us, I'm sure there would be some different opinions about him. Needs more games before people start jumping on the guy. A good quality backup ruckman is exactly what we need. For me Johnson and Meeson have never cut it. Spencer is probably the most uncoordinated footballer I have ever seen and you need to be able to do more than just be big and tall in the AFL. Martin is a basketballer trying to play AFL. I have never been excited about the guy. Hopefully Fitzy and Gawn will develop and show a bit more than the current crop (bar Jamar). EDIT : This is based on him wanting to come to PLAY for melbourne. Not wanting to go where the cash is.

Ah, yep. a ) Because the starter of the thread may not have known. b ) Because many people can't be bothered scrolling through pages of threads when with a few mouse clicks a new one can be created. It saves time. Not everyone is on here all day every day.. *cough* Only when I sleep E25. Or anyone else for that matter with posts such as the one that started this squabble. Cheers.

And who cares if there was...? Your observations aren't opening anyones eyes.

Hopefully today finally showed some people that Morton is not as good a kick as they seem to think... We have always had issues with our kicking. We don't have many great kickers. It is something that worries me. It isn't the most important skill to have as an AFL player or anything....

We still have problems with this..

Won't start a new thread but was just reading AFL.com and there is an article on Chris Knights of the crows. Saying that he has also postponed talks, or is just starting to talk now... If he was keen on moving back to Vic (which is where he is from), I would be keen to get him at the right price. Gun player when fit and has a brilliant kick. A quality we don't have in abundance down at MFC. Anyone else ?

James McDonald - Retirement Announcement

Love him. Unbelievable effort. All the best Jr. -
Who will take the reins from Junior..?

Bruce shouldn't get the captaincy and I hope to hell he doesn't. While he may be a valuable player for other reasons, I am not having our captain kick and handball to the same ability as my grandmother. Brad Green by a mile.. Then Moloney or Davey. I for one won't be happy if Bruce gets the captaincy. -
Why we even went after him I will never know.

Spot on Hannabal. Great post.

Glad to read a couple of posts that are on the same boat. It's something that definitely needs work in the offseason.

Apologies for the spelling. Instead of worrying about the way I write, why not comment on the content?

We seem to somehow get lucky with the long bomb kick out to a contest. Sometimes we win them and then continue to run the ball until we score. Sometimes we lose them and get scored against easily. Too many are either hit out of bounds or the ball is tied up and it's a ball up. Jaded. It seems like you have misinterpreted stats. If we win the 50-50 kick out to a contest and then score easily from that with free flowing football then that's great and I am guessing that's the sort of stat you have looked at. The question still remains: How many times do we win these 50-50 kick outs? Please watch some football and let me know. We need other avenues out of defence. Not only the "long bomb". I don't understand how people can disagree with that? Look at how easily Hawthorn moved the ball out from a kick out. Efficiently and effectively. Your only input to this thread initially was something along the lines of.. "Oh no, not this stupid thread again". Do you have anything thoughtful to say? I haven't heard much from you on demonland except for a few one liners here and there and something about dropping Nathan Jones this week. Really proves your worth. You are correct. I should ignore your posts. They bare no substance.

I won't disagree.
