Who knows, but no doubt we were totally cooked.
I don't buy it.
You don't win two finals and then just become totally cooked.
There were multiple factors as to why we lost that game in the manner we did.
Being cooked was one of many.

Hardly a delayed start to pre-season.
Both running within the next two weeks.

They were only split into two groups.
Well can you make comment on who you believe looked like they were struggling vs those who have really come back to make a point?

Yes, both did everything but the contact work.
They are looking in good condition.
Great to see them out there.
Thanks for the reports.
How did Angus run and does he look to be in tip top condition?

But you have no idea if they were running in the same group, so you instantly had an unnecessary crack at a few guys. The overreacting from you and others on here is ludicrous at times.
Look above.
That's good news if it's the case.
But if it wasn't, I wasn't potting anyone.

They weren’t all in the same running groups so unless you have exact times everyone ran you can take nothing from it
I stand corrected then and good to hear.

Marc McGowan reported they ran the time trials in smaller groups, maybe just be happy that Bedford looks to have really worked hard over the pre-season, rather than in-correctly potting others.
It's impossible to talk sense with supporters like you.
I started with a positive and ended with a negative. It's obviously a huge wrap for Bedford and super impressive. It's equally disheartening that he beat 4th and 5th year starting midfielders to the line though.
There is absolutely zero potting in my post.
The sensitivity around here is ludicrous at times.

I'd similarly be interested to hear where Gus ran.
Massive year ahead for him. Someone who looked cooked far too often in games last year.
Going by photos, he doesn't exactly cut a super lean shape.
-
Positive to hear that there were big numbers in participation.
Less positive that a second year small forward ran second in a time trial in front of a host of midfielders coming into their prime.
Oliver, Harmes, Brayshaw and Petracca (wants to play more mid).
Quite alarming really.

Since we drafted Finlayson and Langdon specifically to play on the wing, it might get very crowded there with Sparrow.
That's news to me.

100% agree last year was a horror show. On field. And most now understand and acknowledge the reasons why.
But to say we were a club in crisis is, in my view complete rubbish. My definition of a club in crisis is the crows.
As evidence of being in crisis you say we moved on a 'whole brigade of assistant coaches'. A whole brigade? How many have we moved on? I might be missing someone but all I can think of is McCartney and Jennings (who technically wasn't an assistant coach).
Am I missing someone? Let's say I am. That means we have moved 2 assistant coaches and one strategy person on. Hardly a 'whole brigade'. In fact I'd suggest 2-3 changes a year would be industry standard.
Rawlings, McCartney, Jennings, Viney, Sam Pietsch...
You can play the technicalities game but when a club have that many leave, (no matter the terms) over a single off-season, you know something is up.
We had a crisis meeting off the back of our horrendous first half of the year. There was a complete restructuring of positions at assistant level, (that's alarming given it was the middle of the season). And by the end of the year, we had an exodus.
I'm not comparing us to Adelaide, I'm looking at us.
In the eyes of the footballing world, we were at crisis point by mid-year and by year's end something had to change. And it did.

I love everything the club is coming out with in recent weeks, it really flies in the face of a few doomsayer posters on this site. I thought this club was in crisis? I mean; Goodwin was to be sacked (didn't eventuate, and ended up signing Richardson to help Goodwin the same week), players wanted out en mass (didn't eventuate, with only 1 player requesting a trade after we didn't offer a contract), Lewis leaving the club disenfranchised (didn't eventuate, and ended up signing him up as a part time kicking coach).
Am I seeing a pattern here? Everything that some have posted as gospel of a club in crisis hasn't occurred, and in fact in most cases, has ended up being the exact opposite!
I also love what's coming out of the club recently but it doesn't fly in the face of any poster rightly expressing their disgust from this season.
I'm not sure what your definition of 'crisis' is for a team that went from prelim to second last over the course of a year, but I'm pretty sure moving on an entire brigade of assistant coaches is a good indicator as to what went down in our mid-year 'crisis' meeting.. It was either Goodwin or his assistants that were going to go and one of those two things eventuated.
You can paint it however you like, but the season was an absolute horror show and changes were rightly made. We were in a crisis and made some bold calls. Now it's the beginning of a new pre-season so naturally everybody is optimistic as new recruits, coaches and announcements are released.

Yes me too! This the second time I have attended at the advertised time 10.30 for them to finish up at 11.00. They are starting at 9.30 or earlier why advertise the wrong time repeatedly?
Because Melbourne..

An extremely favourable fixture.
First half of the year especially.
Absolutely zero excuses not to make finals next year and I expect a top 6 finish minimum.

Hey, Dyson Heppell did it.
But so far we have no evidence Young can do it.
I'm open to taking him if the recruiting dept think he can.
I just don't see it myself. The fact that swooper mentioned he played midfield throughout his unders as well as a bit for the Stingrays suggests that he's not a 'boxed' half back flanker, even if it's his more natural position.
The evidence is there at his unders level. That's all we have to go by.
When was the last time a 'boxed' flanker went at pick 3 in a draft?

This is the time when I think of my very close and longtime friend, @Chook in Perth

This excites me greatly.
He is free and if he can play at even 80% of his ability, his contribution will be felt.

-
Those believing that Young is 'just a half-back flanker' are greatly underselling him.
He may have played that position almost his entire under 18's year, but his attribute diversity and therefore upside is infinite.
He has an incredible blend of attributes.

My theory is that the only reason with bought pick 8 was for Kemp. Id say we know he will be there at 8.
Seems a long shot.
Not sure why clubs would have a 'gentleman's agreement' on who is taking who during trade week. It's far too early.
You might be right that we're hoping he'll be there or that chances are good that he'll be there. But that's about it I reckon.

Does it really matter as long as the whiners get the Darwin game back home, we have to play 11 games 'away', as per mantra, successful teams can win anywhere or are the whiners hoping we lose so they can whine about the draw
You've answered your own question, chap.
We're not a 'successful team' yet are we?
