Interesting you say this, I caught up with my family yesterday - my nephew plays with Duursma at Gippsland Power. I asked them what they think of him and where he should land. They said the same thing. They said he can take great marks and can do amazing passages of play, but he can butcher it and goes missing.
They are a little shocked that he is in consideration for a top 5 pick.i mean, in saying that, if we take him with our first, jason taylor and the recruiters have done it for a reason.. i just can't see it. also be shocked if we took a mid sized caddy. need more midfield class and skilled KPPs (o'sullivan, et al).

I reckon even if he was available, our preference would be Duursma.
i realise that its unfair and definitely illogical, but i can't help but compare duursma with his brother, who can be great, but is also super flakey..especially after his first season or two. it looks as though the new version is in a class above, but still, from the online games that i watched, not sure that he is what we need right now.. looks more like a pick from 10 on. i'd be happy to land duursma at our second pick, but not our first.

I have a strange feeling we're gonna land McKercher.. Not sure how, but I reckon that we might be making moves for him. Heard nothing, just a vibe mannnn..

yep Steve, we should've...but we didn't. let that burn.

I am not sure our midfield has the kicking skill to play in a more precise fashion. Petracca, Oliver, Viney, Hunter, Gawn, ANB, Langdon, Sparrow, Brayshaw and Rivers are our top 10 inside 50 kickers (accounting for more than half our entries) and none of them are elite AFL kicks. We obviously need more skill on the outside, but Petracca, Oliver, Viney and Gawn are the core of our team and will continue to provide more than a quarter of our entries. We could encourage them to hit up shorter targets, but they are not very good at that and this potentially opens us up to counterattack.
Rank Name Games Average 1 Christian Petracca 25 5.88 2 Clayton Oliver 15 5.47 3 Jack Viney 24 5.29 4 Lachlan Hunter 24 3.71 5 Max Gawn 22 3.41 6 Alex Neal-Bullen 25 3.40 7 Ed Langdon 25 3.12 8 Tom Sparrow 23 2.96 9 Angus Brayshaw 24 2.88 9 Trent Rivers 25 2.88 11 Brodie Grundy 17 2.71 12 Christian Salem 16 2.56 13 Bayley Fritsch 17 2.53 14 James Jordon 18 2.39 14 Kysaiah Pickett 23 2.39 16 James Harmes 9 2.33 17 Jake Melksham 13 2.31 18 Kade Chandler 23 2.17 19 Taj Woewodin 4 2.00 20 Charlie Spargo 14 1.93 stating the bleeding obvious, but we need talented players by foot going inside 50 as much as we need a tall forward..

from all reports anyone that had watched him play were saying that he would potentially step up next year. a real shame. hopefully he gets on a list elsewhere, seems like a nice guy and has the attributes.

IF Grundy was traded, he wouldn't be a Free Agent (attracting a compensation pick) so any draft pick and/or players would be negotiated between Melbourne and his hypothetical new club.
i was more referring to a pick trade, obviously not a compensation pick..

out of interest, should grundy be traded, i wonder if we are eligible for a draft pick and if so, what that would be? in the 20s?

just ordered a longsleeve dark blue and naarm beanie.. always regret not buying an indigenous jumper and never had a longsleeve before. never too late (41). psyched.

Currently looking at grabbing one of the nifty longsleeve guernseys from the MFC website..
Wondering if I can pay extra for a number on the back (10), or if the club is no longer doing this?..I know that they used to years ago?..
Additionally, I'm be interested if all Demonlanders were given the chance to obtain a free jumper from the club, and you could get a number on the back to represent the love ofyour fave player, which number would you ask for?

Steven May knew. He was telling Lever all about it after the 50 was paid.
he only knew after asking the umpire what on earth it was for..

Our fumbling is becoming a concern and will hurt us against the better sides, especially when it is Petracca, Viney, Oliver, ANB, Spargo etc... who are usually so clean. We have to tidy this up.
My man Brayshaw is possibly our sloppiest current player. Some of his un-pressured stuff ups today (and over the last 2 weeks as well) were mind boggling. It is only his 2-way running and defensive efforts keeping him in the 22. He is a gun, but clean hands and feet required.
I agree.. not sure why so many of the team have been fumbling and yesterday was particularly bad (obviously it was highly contested, but still, there were many dropped uncontested marks). and yes, my fave brayshaw has been one of the big culprits. not a great look. i also noticed chandler was a little guilt of it it in the first half too. it seems to catch on throughout the rest of the team, much like missed shots at goal..
a slightly better/healthier opposition yesterday would've made a more stressful watch. we were lucky we weren't punished.

yep, worried rivers will leave too.. oh well, can't keep em all. i do like him though. just as long as we keep kozzy.

wish we'd gone for hotton. gruzewksi was also a big miss. would've been happy to trade up to get either of them.

'um yeah, morning everyone.. i got a burger and chips and thickshake today on our magnificent journey to the victoria gardens food court. the burger has protein, the chips have sodium - just like our drinks at halftime and the thickshake is making my legs thicker. i think this is good stuff to eat. in conclusion, i hope to continue my good dieting habits daily and thank you very much for your time.'

Brayshaw isn't going anywhere and if he does, I will be heartbroken, cos he's my fave.. Has been since he used to set up Garlett! Love how he's evolved as a player and don't care if he plays wing or half back, he's great and verging on AA at either position. Just love him. Vice Captain I reckon. Although it'd be a bit crap to take that off Viney..

6 - Oliver. Won us the game. Tore away from packs and kicked to forwards lace out. Just a terror.
5 - Brayshaw - My fave. Love him and everything he does. Like to think I'd play like that if I could run farther than the corner shop.
4 - Happy E - Legend. Love the way he plays the game. Always looking for a one-two and loves a goal.
3 - Bowey. Just can't get enough of his disposal. Love he's starting to get a little tougher too. So much time and plays the half back role well.
2 - Weid. Happy he got amongst it, but wasn't as enthused as others about his performance. Seems like a really nice guy and that, but just can't see him sticking around.. Had hoped to see Van Rooyen this game, but Sam went ok.
1 - Joel Smith - Not a fan, but his best game if you ask me. Credit where credit is due. Good spoils. Not terrible disposal. Stretched the lines. Gives us something the other defenders don't. Still, I doubt him.
Hon Mention: Fritsch. Style and technique (lower that hair though Bayley, lol). Loved how he went for the speccie at the end and did basically the same thing as he did in the GF and got one over the back. Cheeky.

have you considered that with our first rounder for next year, as well as any compensation that we would get for petty, we could get a tall forward to join the club?..
