Demonlanders, my old man has (had) a demon gnome that he puts out the front of his apartment on Powlett St a few hundred metres from the G.

When we lose it faces the naughty corner when we win its on proud display. When Maxy kicked the goal after the siren in 2021 to win the minor premiership it was purched on top of a ladder.

It has been stolen twice in 5 years both Collingwood games. Last night one of those people in black and white jail uniforms jumped his fence and stole it.

The old man wants a new gnome before Anzac Eve. Any ideas how to fast track one? It needs to be 30+cm and not one of those plastic ones.

The new gnome will be wearing a Brayshaw style helmet the week we play Collingwood we might need security.

I think the AFL shop sells them , and I bought one about 5 years ago from a privately owned sports memorabilia store in a shop on Victoria street adjacent to the Vic market. This store will be open on Tuesday

  2. Not sure if mentioned here yet but Gary Lyon on SEN this morning brought up the little known fact that Cameron has been FINED 5 times in his career for dangerous tackles.🤦‍♂️

He doesn’t have a spotless record like Pendlebury for example, and obviously hasn’t learnt from his soft feather warnings

There was a clear "kicking in danger" vs Hawks that was not paid. He looked to be impacted by that

Yes, it was obvious to everyone at the ground except the umpires

  10. JVR’s first half was very exciting. I suggest that along with Salem’s impressive performance in the middle ,a position he hasn’t played since his junior days, the 2 were the biggest of a myriad of positives from last night.

  11. The good :

Brown, Windsor, Verell , Picket in the middle, Viney, Gawn’s first half, Petracca when he could be bothered, Lever

    The bad:

fumbling, poor forward entries, Rivers , McVee , kicking for goal, missed targets, May, little sustained pressure, Lawrie’s disposal , Tomlinson impersonating TMac’s lack of agility .

  12. I attended my first preseason training this morning in hot and breezeless conditions.

I’m not a big fan of training techniques so I’ll concentrate on some observations on individual players, and let others comment on set plays.

My initial observations were very pleasing:

    TMac has certainly changed his body shape (and hairdo) looking much lighter and running  comfortably;

Tomlinson is generally not noted for his agility but a dedicated summer of training sees him looking lighter and quite fast too.

Tholstrup looks and trains like a man on a mission and his repeated efforts certainly don’t go unnoticed.

Bowie has muscled up and his kicking was a weapon

Rivers looks supremely fit and continues to give the impression he’ll play more midfield time this year .

Not overly impressed by the fitness of McAdam who seems to be coming from a fair distance behind the others in fitness

Petty likewise to McAdam seems a fair way off match fitness, understandably.

  13. I might be late to the table with these comments but I definitely see a striking similarity between Koltyn and one of the all time great Demons of the past in Alan Jakovich : Size, shape, mullet, goal kicking celebrations, and cockiness.

We can only hope and pray that we’ve landed  another potential superstar
