Fox footy disagree with you: The Demons forward line thrived with multiple targets and the tackling pressure, and strong aerial work of Sam Weideman will likely keep Jack Watts out again.
-
I don't disagree that he can be better and provide a little more. Every single player in our team can be better and do more. My point is that he did what was asked of him to the best of his ability, which is more than can be said of the alternatives.
-
That's not what I said, I was making the point that possessions are not the sole measure of success. If it were we would be on top of the ladder as we average the highest by any team this year. My point is that everyone has a role, I thought he fulfilled his role today.
-
If a taging player has 6 possessions would you be calling for noose? His role was to contest and bring the ball to ground, which is precisely what he did
-
I would hope we make the point of asking the head umpire to take us through the new rule that affects the ruck contest that says "If the player is Gawn, then the opposition ruckman shall receive free kick for no obvious reason" it was a disgraceful display of umpiring in that regard today and it was obvious Gawn held back on even contesting ruck for fear of giving away a free.
-
It was a small forward game plan today, his role was to do exactly what you have said he did. Wait back in the marking contest and bring the ball to ground.
-
Again, Goodwin has sent a VEEERRRRYYY clear message the lack of effort and shying away from the hard ball will see you play in the VFL.
-
Every Demon fan at the game!!!!
-
Disagree, Goodwin has proven consistently that effort goes rewarded and repeated game of laziness gets you time in the VFL. Jack will stay in VFL until he does what the coaches askes him to do, as per early in the year when the coach wouldn't play him because he wasn't doing what was asked of him. Petracca may miss out next week for Maynard in my opinion
-
No way in hell, his role was to compete and bring the ball to ground which he did well. Plus watts still looked average in the VfL yesterday
-
Great quarter boys keep the energy and effort up!!! Do demons

Big crowd building with many outside waiting to get in, could be over 50k

Just arrived at the ground, howling gale forced winds blowing to punt road end... Nah just kidding ??

See my previous post where I said: You do know that 8 of or top 10 goal scores for their year are playing including our top 3?

MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - ROUND 21

With 8 of our top 10 goal kickers for the year playing I think we will be just fine as long as we play well around stoppages and then deliver it well into our forwards. -

Very well said Copuchas ? As much as I also want us to make finals this year, you are 100% spot on with everything you have said. Ive been coaching elite swimming for 18 years and the mistake most rookie coaches make in the early days of coaching is going for short term success at the detriment of future success. This is no different in any sport. Goodwin is an exceptional coach and our FD are top notch and I trust them (as frustrating as waiting for that success can be). if we stuff it up now going for short term success we might as well start rebuilding again. -
Trust somebody who's avatar is a shot glass of what looks like whisky!!! Surely on the p i s s !! Boom tish ?????

Totally agree. It won't change this season however so we need to find a way to combat it ASAP! -

Which season? We're on three and I'd say the first two we're much better ? -

I don't disagree at all that when he is rucking well we have a significant advantage in the center, trouble is he isn't as dominant as he has been in the past in my opinion. GWS was a great example as many of his taps when straight to GWS players. what I'm saying is, if he's not having his best game and we are getting beaten in the middle what harm is there in mixing it up a little and putting him down forward? For what it's worth, we have won 5 out of 10 games with Gawn in the side, and 5 out of 9 with him out of the side. Dont get me wrong, I love the guy and want him on the ground in every single game for ever, just I think we can be more creative with him when things aren't going well. -

I actually think we are loosing our center dominance as a result of having max in the ruck. We have played our best games when we have a clear knowledge of what will happen in the ruck duel. When max was out we knew we would loose the ruck contest, so we planned for that by simply assuming it would be hit straight to one of the opposition players and manning up hard on those players looking to shark it off them. At the moment max is not in his best form, but we are setting up as if we will win the ruck contest, but since that is not happening we are winning little of the center clearance. i say we go back to playing pedo or watts or similar in ruck, assume we will loose the contest, and go back to what was working for us, sharking it off the opposition ruck. Play max forward around 35m out from goal to create a target for the long bomb we so dearly love, and play our crumbing forwards around or behind him for when it hits the deck or for the quit handball over the back. -
And be unmanned all game and have his best game for the year!

This was on AFL website This was on AfL website, maybe get a few more than we expect: Melbourne and the MCC have given away 20,000 tickets to the game to various schools and multicultural communities

Dangerfield got 2 weeks, downgraded to 1 for early plea. Grundy should get two as well, and Mumford 1 week potentially, plus a week for his bump on Gawns face (seriously how was no free given for that???)
