Roos spoke about this in the post match presser. In essence he said our boys were hand balling too short on the weekend, as they have for a fair bit of the year. He said if you watch the top teams they take a couple of hand balls to get out to space and the kicker, this takes longer better hand balls (something Clarry does well) but we were taking 4 or 5 handballs to try and get to the same point. That obviously ups the risk involved and the margin for error. I took from what he said that this was much more and execution issue than a gameplan issue.

I don't expect them to be even but a 400% difference is staggering. It wasn't even the ones they paid the Blues, there were some shockers but there always are, it was the ones we didn't get like Hogan being pushed from a marking contest by a player facing him not even looking near the ball while his team mate marked in our goal square, or Max being pushed out of the ruck and shepherded from competing again and again and again, only to have a free paid against his for doing the same. 1 free for a whole half of a game is unheard of and really can't happen. It doesn't matter how dominant the opposition there will be more than 1 mistake made by a team to give away a free in a half of footy.

The North result surprised you? I watch them very little but every time I do they get a great run with the umps, including in every game against us for years. The dogs were the ones that surprised me, I thought they would be in positive territory but not quite that far.

Can't remember saying the opposite in a game this year although I am confident there must have been at least 1 or 2. This is a game we must win. We have a clear incentive to do so, they don't, we are in good form, they aren't. If we lose I will be disappointed as it will truly be the end of the season. Reminds me of the North game. How many goals from frees was it again, 7 I think. At least 4 of them were very questionable.

They can be in contact and talk about what ever they like, as long as it isn't to do with football (i.e. coaching, training, game plans etc). They can discuss contracts and social matters.

Didn't the same happen in the Gold Coast game (or one recently) where a couple of players got fined for rough conduct or the like yet we were not awarded the free on the day?

Any team would have got exactly the compensation we did for those players. It is decided by a formula and what we received fits within the formula.

It is basically that if a team has not made finals for a set period of time (they suggest 3 years) then they get an extra pick at the start of the second round, and the team who has been out longest, or is the worst, gets the first of these picks. The idea is to help the club stuck at the bottom to inject talent into their side faster and make the comp more even. 2 things: 1: If you watch the highlights package it is basically a Cyril highlights until near the end when they must have felt they needed to put some of us in to show we won. [censored] off Hawthorn, I hope the club goes under! 2: It has been said here a lot that our game plan is wrong and in particular that we can't beat 'Clarkson sides' (as in teams coached by ex Hawthorn assistants. I wonder if we will hear that gain now that we have beaten the Clarkson side!?

When was the last time we went into round 21 still a mathematical chance of making the finals (although it is a very slim chance)! It is nice to have not been discussing the trade period for the last 2 months.

I think both were paid by one of the umps down the field and not the ump closest. From watching I got the feeling one of the umps was actually doing a good job, he was calling what was there. The other two were muppets. I think this caused the high contact to Jetta not paid and the high contact to Cyril paid moments later, I would go with not paying either as they both ducked.

I was always taught to introduce myself to the jury before competing (different sport) and to always be polite. Doing so will not get you off cheating but it may help in the 50/50 calls.

Rioli got the free kick for a passage of play a few second later where he was tackled. He was tackled legally but because it was close he of course got the free for too high. The hit on Clarry and the free were two different incidents.

Port are only a chance if they beat us this week. Who ever loses that game is out of contention for finals, if North win any of the remaining games both are out of contention.
