Your doing Albania a disservice. Albania has its drawbacks but it is more interesting. And in many out of the way towns they have EFTPOS.

Your last sentence, my thoughts exactly.

Agreed, wing or half forward only, also our disposal generally down back is a worry, early days but same disposal problems as previous seasons, and Melksham does not help.

THE BOMBERS' DOPING SAGA - THE FAT LADY SINGS
hemingway replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in General Discussion
Not a surprising comment from a businessman and president that was used to getting his own way, without consultation or consideration of the views of others, and also without any concern for the truth. Sound like someone else currently in the news. Powerful people think they get their own way through force of personality and position. -
Pro is just one poster. He has an opinion as everyone else does. It is not better or worse. Some posters think their opinion is better, more informed or simply superior to others. Fortunately, many just like to share their opinion with other posters or enjoy reading the opinion of others. Some earn respect from others through their informed views or the manner in which they communicate.. Those that don't earn respect are those that allow ego or a sense of superiority influence their posts. The Watts saga is a good example where opinions rule due to different perceptions, different information sources and different interpretations. In the end, I enjoy this sight because I love this club and I find this site more informative and interesting that any "official sites" including the marketing spiel that comes from the MFC site. Let diversity of opinions rule but without ego or personal denigration of other's views or opinions.

Good news, quietly getting on with business in a no fuss manner.

Does anyone need more info? Although very slow for a member of the footy club (excluding the players) to say anything. Not exactly preemptive.

Thanks for sharing these two games guys. Fantastic to watch and not that different in many ways. Features of both games 29 years apart: Attack on the ball, inside and outside. Attack on their opponents. Pressure, pressure, pressure. Running in numbers and into space. Sensible and effective use of handball and short kicking. Other features of the North match: Great umpiring. Seeing Demetriou, Clarkson and Shaun Smith playing for North. Seeing the late Robbie, Jimmy and Sean playing that day. What great players and men! Seeing the dads of our current players, Todd, Steven Stretch, Shaun Smith-how time flies. Seeing some of the Demon names that I had forgotten playing in that match. How did Northey get such incredible value out of these good ordinary players? The game against North was still the most dominant 4 quarter performance that I have ever seen from Melbourne. A day to treasure and remember. I will always remember after returning from the game and seeing the jubilant look on my father's face when I walked into his hospital room in his final days, and sharing the highlights of the day. He had taken me to the footy every week from the age of 4 and they were the best days ever.- 52 replies

Perhaps the biggest missed opportunity by the MFC, compounded by what the takeover by the CFC. But I guess at the time, we had little or no money......or not enough.

Agree OD. i think this is what we are always going to get with Garlett. Sometimes the case with the "will of the wisp" types. They are frustrating to watch but there is always the feeling that they can remain kick less for most of the game yet still have the ability to kick an important goal or win the game at a critical moment. Jeff Farmer had plenty of poor games where he did little but we still remember his magic and unpredictability. He always drew a couple of defenders away from the contest,

thanks for the reality check rusty!

Great summary Goffy.

Garlett is important for us and adds the much needed x factor when in form. We look much better balanced when he is playing. However, the x factor is very much dependent on consistency. I would prefer a few goals each match than a bag and then nothing. A consistent Garlett makes for a very potent forward line and a very dangerous side. I also have no faith in getting a full season from Kent given the nature of his game and his injury history.

The What Do You Think of the New Clash Guernsey Poll
hemingway replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
our colours. that's Melbourne not some team in a white jumper. love it -
Great win against the dogs. They had a few out but so did we, and they are the 2016 premiers. I know it has been mentioned on many occasions, but the game just highlighted to me how much depth we now have and the potential we have in the playing list. We have competition for spots, the first time in a long time, and now have the talent and the depth to cover the inevitable injuries that will occur during the season. Sure we have a few guns we do not want to lose through injury but that is no different from any AFL side. I was keeping a lid on my own expectations, but after Saturdays game I am excited for the first time for many years.

Agree with this, simple enough but need to do consistently as stated. If you don't win the clearances your dead.

A useful reminder to all those who may want to vent their spleen in the event of a drubbing.

With the outs on both sides, will be an interesting test. One still has to stop and remember that we are playing the current premiers. Amazing or was it all a dream! Would love to see some of the fringe players get a run.

Biff, you of all people, should appreciate diversity and "the rich tapestry of life." Its why you have so many friends on this site! Somewhere behind your facade is a kind, caring man who appreciates all of humanity. We are all spirit souls and universally connected even to the toothless, fat, ugly and disgusting poor people. Remember they are in the majority. And you must have lots of like friends at the GAT and also in the bars and clubs of SE Asia. By the way can you tell us your height, weight, facial characteristics, and bank balance. And post a candid photo of you and your smile.
-
of course Biff, my comments were of course tongue in cheek. i know that you need sustenance and support given the perilous position of the Gat. but you reach a point in your life where you need to learn moderation in all things and seek nourishment of the soul.

Makes my past excessive behaviour seem well what can I say.....not excessive. I feel there is a touch of unreality creeping into your life Biff. A lengthy period in rehab is beckoning.

"We're proud, and proud of each other"

Agreed. And how long will it take ? Says a lot about the culture of men's sport. Courage on the field but not off it. -
that would not be good.
