The Tiges have had 4 good wins. We have one good win and a poor win. We have not been too bad that's true but far from impressive and not confidence building performances. However, we will have to make the most of our opportunities up forward and our midfield will have to play its a...... off.

Definitely a more circumspect opinion BB.

Richmond are in great form. Melbourne is not. We have players out of form and an unsettled lineup. Unless something changes our defence is going to be under serious pressure. Martin and Riewoldt could cause some serious damage. Usually optimistic playing the tigers but not looking forward to this one. Could get ugly.

Gee the Hawks miss Mitchell. He was the extractor, the go to player, the link man. It's going to be very interesting to see how the club responds over coming weeks if the losses continue.

The Petracca v McCartin debate reprised
hemingway replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Off the field Toby is a liability but on the field he is a dynamo. Slot into any side and be a huge asset because of his contested possessions and footy smarts. And he is as tough as nails. -
Agreed, not writing off the season. , but it's going to be a real test. Our single biggest advantage in gaining possession is gone for an extended period. Of all players, Max is the biggest loss. But certainly an opportunity for Jake to step up. But he is no Max. Interesting times ahead.

Surgery could mean season, certainly a minimum of 8-12w as you suggest. Rotten luck. We will need to reinvent ourselves without Max.

The key to Freo is Sandilands. We have to counter or nullify him. We do, we will.

Wise words from Goodwin on the MFC site. Measured, sensible and positive. Impressed by his intelligence, good communication skills and empathy.

Disappointing but the stats from the game show that we have come a long way. Possession count, inside 50s etc etc. Unlike the bad old days we are winning the ball. Cruelled by shocking kicking for goal, loss of aerial dominance in the ruck and by the efforts of Selwood and Danger. For me, many more positives than negatives. Truly believe we need to go with minimal changes to the line-up. We need stability in the line-up and only make changes where absolutely necessary, ie Spencer for Gawn.

Watch for the bandaged head diving to the ground particularly in the last quarter if its close.

Gazza has run out of juice, physically and mentally.

At least they are not season ending injuries and Hogan will have time to get over any niggles. The reality is that we have to learn to play without some of our stars during the season as a result of injury or suspension. Better now than later. Agree with some other comments that all players have to be more disciplined. You can be tough and hard without getting suspended. Because everyone is watching.

I really dont care about the semantics. We won the bloody game. If we win ugly most of the time that's just fine with me. We have had years of losing ugly every bloody week. So let's be happy with the win.

Hate the long distance lens where you can't pick up the players and they look like dots. Also the commentators describing every detail rather than letting the camera show the story. Overtalking and useless statistics a la Bruce of past games etc.

If you had ever spent an afternoon with Gertrude you would not say such things Dieter and you would then understand that there is more to a person that what meets the eye.

We all want a win but they are still a young developing team. There are going to be good and bad days. We need patience.
-
That is the truth.

I'm sure your first para is the crux. The dogs are so quick the umps are caught napping and do not want to slow down play.

You have no respect or decency. Given your own interests I would have expected bitter.

TEAM SELECTION AND MATCH PREVIEW - ROUND 2
hemingway replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I am not convinced by Kent. When he is good or not injured, he can be very good, but he does go missing. And Harmes despite his deficiencies, does provide intensity around the contest up forward. If we can get Kent to string some games together my view may change. -

if you are as beautiful as your mug shot suggests, I agree with you darling. -
I have more time for Buckles than his Pres. I doubt it will happen, but the Pres should fall before Buckles. Buckles is a decent person.
