  1. Very subtle old chap, I was going to refer to you in future as Cutter rather than Daisy.
  2. You are a humble decent man or a con but I will give you the benefit of the doubt.
  3. Daisy, I assume that your new years resolutions did not include to behave more politely.
  4. Agree with this insight. For those folk who want to be elite athletes, then quality always comes before quantity. In distance running; high training loads (high kilometres) does not equate to extra speed. Speed does not come from strength although many believe this to be the case. Quality training specific to the event or sport is the key. Otherwise you would have Usain Bolt running 200k a week.
  5. No Moon, not when it is 38 degrees heading to 40. On days like today, keeping up the fluids is important and in the interests of good health.
  6. Biff, with the greatest respect it is always a bit of a worry to hear about single middle aged men going to the fleshpots. Well we have heard about save the children but to add some decency to this thread, save the locals. And as a decent man, you will pay appropriate wages or tips not slave labour cash transactions like so many exploitive corporations worshipped by those seduced by the capitalists. Or those middle aged men that are seeking nourishment of their material desires rather than nourishment of the soul. There is no price to be paid for nourishment of the soul.
  7. And anyone who does not agree is a bum!
  8. agreed binman, both dashers but johnno was a superb long and accurate kick on the run. many will remember those long goals on the burst..
  9. Agreed. Even as a kid back in the 60s, learning to kick both feet was regarded as important. We all practised and tried, some more effectively than others but good coaches stressed how important it was.
  10. Always believed that you play or compete as you train. So love to hear that Goodwins emphasis seems to be on quality over quantity. Sessions that are designed to mirror match conditions. Also that we seem to be working hard on three deficiencies- handball under pressure, non preferred kicking, and speed.
  11. Bloody fantastic mate, the observation skills of a bird watcher, the analytical skills of a boffin, and the enthusiasm of a child. Wonderful to read reports that are so detailed and without the smart arse comments and one-upmanship of past seasons.
  12. I don't listen to footy talk or sport in the morning angry. music is my thing.
  13. sorry to make you angry angry, just getting a bit nostalgic, and fed up with the nature of the footy media these days.
  14. bring back butch gale, mike williamson, indeed anyone pre-1980. lets have footy radio and TV where knowledgeable commentators talk about the game. cant we get rid of special comments and the boys clubs at each station behaving in their loud, boorish and matey manner. i speak particularly of the commercial radio where the standard is so poor. just getting nostalgic folks and thinking how awful it will be listening to these clowns next season.
  15. Don't know that I like the sound of that Saty. Can you tell the others not to go to hard at Gawny. Prefer to see the long legs and knees in cotton wool. Bad enough to cop an injury in a real game but a tragedy if it happens in preseason. And given where Spencer is at the moment I can imagine that he is going hammer and tongs.
  16. Really good to hear, because big Maxy is going to cop it from all sides next season as the enemy tries to soften him up and hurt him. Started to see it late in the season. Happy that Spencer is getting some work because we will need his physicality in 2017.
  17. Ron, what's gender got to do with it ? don't tell me that if it had been a little girl, it would have been different, tell be it ain't so.
  18. I think the difference may be that Rome is the home of classical antiquity and as all Demon fans would know is actually called Roma in Latin. Suspect that Romsey will never be known as the eternal city or be regarded as one of the birthplaces of Western civilisation, let alone attract tourists other than poor unfortunates that find themselves off the beaten track by listening to Siri. God help them if they find a hand painted sign post to Romsey manor. They will find a bed but not one for rest. Having said that I had forgotten that The Vatican City is also located in Roma and currently is the residence of Georgie Porgy Pell. By comparison Uncle and Romsey Manor may be a better place for an overnight stay.
  19. i am glad you have contentment at Romsey Uncle but how do the local community feel? Although I suppose your needs are very specific and the local yokels are quite suitable. My guess is that it's very much a case of Stockholm Syndrome. I think Snowtown also sounds quite pleasant. Or even Wantirna!
  20. Yes there are ghettos of decency where people care and there is a strong sense of community.
  21. We hope so but one needs to be extremely cautious with Melanoma and secondary spread.
  22. Agree , most over rated city in the world. All marketing and spin. Heading all one way. Down. Have been living away this year and you suddenly realise that Melbourne is becoming unaffordable and unliveable with the city ruled by developers, corrupt politicians and local councils and a dog eat dog mentality amongst the mob. Exciting city, no, dysfunctional, yes. It is becoming a city with no kindness or heart. It is a city losing its soul. It is a city dictated by real estate, how to make a quick buck, poverty and desperation. Sorry, it has good coffee and food. As If we need more coffee and food. The only redeeming feature is the MFC. And this web site.
  23. These things are always more complicated than they seem on the surface particularly with legal ramifications involved. Sometimes in organisations it is best to act quickly and decisively to remove the problem before it affects others. It seems that no good can come from letting this situation go for too long. Easier said than done but I hope the club is working to cast HL adrift as soon as possible so that all can move on.
  24. Agreed, I decided many years ago that watching the footy show was a poor reflection on me. Life was too short to watch such infantile pathetic drivel. Hopefully, the death rattle has sounded for this show. It is well passed its use by date and should be guillotined as soon as possible. And Sam should be first cab off the rank..
  25. Great comments by BB, but buy-in comes when players and club start to see improvement and progress toward their goals. This creates belief that what your doing in training and preparation is translating to competition/matches. This requires some measure of success and I think early success including against top teams will be critical. All athletes need to be feel that all the hard yards/training is paying off on the field of competition. In other words, winning games of footy.
