It's just my summation. There's no doubt these guys will get games, but I'm hardly excited by a couple of C-graders joining the fringes. Naturally, others can please themselves.
-
Yes, they'll only have all/most of preseason, intraclub games, simulated sessions, and NAB challenges to prove their worth in 6 months time. It might have escaped you, but Hogan missed all of last year with stress fractures in his back, but was ready by round 1.

Bugg is a strong bodied competitor and Kennedy was a star junior with decent pace and a strong left foot. Bugg may free up Viney so he can transition from a lockdown role to a more attacking inside cog. We need to improve our outside finishing, so Kennedy fills a role there, except he's never built an engine. It's not hard to see why they'd target these types of players, I just doubt they're good enough to be permanent best 22. Why did they target Mitchie, Riley and Newton ? We were trying to improve our midfield. None are best 22, but it's obvious why we did it. Post your best 22 with Bugg and Kennedy in the team.

Toumpas is a spud at AFL level.
-
It's called having an opinion. Bugg has played senior footy for 4 years. I've seen plenty of him. He's just another ordinary footballer. One gets the distinct feeling they think they have to do something, this is something, therefore let's do this. I agree with your last sentence. Post your best 22 and assume we have Kennedy and Bugg on the list.

He's so good he spent 6 weeks this year in the NEAFL from rounds 14-19. Look at GWS supporters preseason predictions as they named their best 22. Most didn't include Bugg. I agree that he's close to best 22 and his 16 games this year is testament to that, but forgive me for not being excited by a fringe GSW tagger. Jetta Dunn Frost Melksham McDonald *Salem Vince Viney vandenBerg Petracca Hogan Brayshaw Garlett Pedersen Harmes Gawn Tyson Jones Trengove Lumumba Kent Stretch I've left out Garland, Grimes, Newton, Watts, ANB, White, JKH, Dawes and yes, Bugg. Now I know that Bugg isn't competing with many I've left out, I'm just providing a sample size of who's missing. You may doubt Trengove, as many here do, but if he's over his foot and regenerates his movement over the ground I'm bullish about his prospects. You may have Bugg over Stretch. Fair enough. Or Lumumba, who I don't rate, but Roos will play Lumumba in his best 22. I'm not saying Bugg wouldn't get games, clearly he will, but I'm far from excited about the prospects of Bugg and Kennedy joining the club. They're scrubbers who won't take us up the ladder. I'll leave the excitement to others. *I was tempted to move Salem to a wing, but I'd like to see him play one more year off half-back, while White continues to develop.

Two of whom aren't even best 22.
-
You've posted walls and walls of waffle and said absolutely nothing. Time for your next hibernation.
-
How convenient. One can literally predict anything. And is an utter waste of time. And no, I'm not "desperate", clown.
-
I always enjoy your posts and agree with you on much of our youth, but this is patent rubbish. None of that quartet will be a Demon "soon". I suspect your get out of jail card is in 12 months time and Prestia is the only possibility. Bastinac is a hack and Rosa is finished. The most trades there has been since 1986 is 29 in 2011. Last year there was 19. You say there'll be 50 this year ? I don't think so. But yes, the environment is more conducive for players to change clubs.
-
No point deleting a post when you're making a point. And clearly I am. You rarely hear him and are merely judging him on his recruiting record at Richmond. It's a shallow argument (he was coach not recruiter), but yes, it's often made. But look, I get you like the sound of your own voice and on this occasion you provided a little merriment to some.
-
So you disagree ? EDIT: Disregard. Forgot you're from Canberra and probably wouldn't listen often.
-
Disagree. I always find Terry great to listen to. Also, knowing the mistakes made by an under resourced Richmond gives him a great insight into what not to do. Afterall, we learn from our mistakes.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB – JAKE MELKSHAM

In what way ? -
I didn't hear it, but I'm not sure why there's such angst.
-
Those figures were never right. Collingwood are offering him $400K. I suspect we were south of $300K - certainly no more than $300K. Happy to disagree.
-
In truth, I don't really blame Howe. He's been offered a contract by Melbourne that was designed to force his hand and make him leave. He knows he's not wanted at the MFC. That said, his interests are of no concern to me. None whatsoever. I only want what's best for the MFC and to maximise his trade value. And I'd play as hard as I can in doing so.
-
Of course I do. I just disagree that their particular assets are meritorious.
-
As I've already said, this must be a stinker of a draft.
-
I'm aware of that. But I'd rather judge them on what I've seen. Kennedy is a mid, not a small forward. And where does Bugg fit in. Name your best 22 and see how easy it is to fit these two in. I don't get it.
-
I know what they are and do, but Paul Roos being involved guarantees nothing. You seem to think, "well, if Paul Roos wants them it must be a good idea". I don't. Whether it be Henry Playfair (Geelong), Paul Chambers (Geelong), Mark Seaby (West Coast) or Lumumba he's not immune from recycled duds.
-
Do they ? Why ? I don't see it.
-
No. Fitzpatrick has been a better defender than forward and we have better players down back. Max King is the same height as Fitzpatrick and is a far better prospect in the forward/ruck role, albeit he's 1-2 years away. It just might be that Hawthorn are more deficient in some areas than us. Cheney had better prospects at Hawthorn and Adelaide than he did at Melbourne. It's all about list balance.
-
He's wrong on Kent who is highly rated within the club. Unfortunately, he's injury prone and doesn't seem to ever get a decent run at it. Stretch never wastes a disposal. Dawes won't take us further. Watts won't compete. I love the prospects of King who's a highly talented forward/ruck. It's an article that only serves to highlight that it's difficult to be fully across all 18 teams. C-

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB – JAKE MELKSHAM
Gator replied to Theo's topic in Melbourne Demons
This is the crux. We obviously have a clearly defined role for Melksham and it also releases Salem to the wing.
