I do. He won't be near their best 22 and he's no Hale. He may get a game or three and I understand why Hawthorn think it's worth a punt when one considers his versatility and attributes, but he was finished at Melbourne. King is a mile ahead in the talent stakes.
-
So if I've got this right, because Hawthorn are happy to have him as depth you think we made a mistake ? Nice logic.
-
We have better defenders and Max King, also 200cm, has consigned Fitzpatrick to the dungheap. Delist.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN KENNEDY

He's played all of his best footy at VFL and junior level as a mid, not a small forward. -

Bugger ? -
I've made it clear that I'm not across this year's draft, however, Parish is (presently) a slightly built outside mid. History tells you that strongly built inside mids taken in the top 10 have something like an 80% success rate. It drops off markedly for other types. I'll be very interested in who they take at pick 3, Clearly Parish won't make it through to pick 7. Is Curnow more a mid than a tall forward, the other way round, or equally adept at both ? While Francis can play mid or forward he apparently plays his best footy as an athletic intercept defender. He looks a real talent, albeit still a bit raw from recent videos. Taylor has been terrific so far and I'll back whatever he and the club decides. I suspect Parish will need to be really good to be taken at pick 3 given the time he'll take to develop.
-
I haven't followed juniors this year, however, from a purely theoretical point of view, if Curnow is as good as touted and plays the Stringer type role he must be our choice at pick 3. Or Francis if they see the same type of potential and rate him higher.

Not excited by this, however, he deserves his name correctly spelt in the thread title. His name is Tomas. -
Very underwhelmed with Kennedy and Bugg. Rapt with draft picks. Obviously.
-
We started the trade period with pick 6. If you said we'd finish the trade period with picks 3 and 7 and lose just one best 22 player - a C-grader - I wouldn't have believed you.
-
I reckon we offered him less than $300K, which is what I've already stated on this thread. What are you on about ?
-
I have little doubt it's right. We didn't rate or want him.
-
I'm not one of the 44 who liked this

OK. Shows how much we rated Toumpas. He's a D grader and no-one could argue otherwise, so the question is what do we expect he'll become as a player. You have your answer. He's so weak in the contest we consider him not AFL quality.

Who cares where Kennedy was rated years ago ? I rated him too. Very underwhelmed. -
Howe is a C+ grader and Toumpas is D. What do you expect to receive for such players ? (For reference I consider Nathan Jones a B grader, who has had one A grade year - 2014) Toumpas isn't worth much more than pick 50. Pick 40 if you got really lucky. And Kennedy and 29 for Howe is reasonable. I don't know what the fuss is about.
-
He's a harmless supporter that is passionate about the Dees. And that's all that matters.
-
Did you just hear his dulcet tones ?
-
Glad you're so certain about it. I share your conviction.
-
In a fashion. Kennedy is a 175 cm mid, who has excelled in the VFL as a mid, but been played as a small forward/mid at AFL level and struggled. Harmes is a 185 cm forward/mid with excellent pace, who is a terrific contested mark. I see Kent and JKH competing more with Kennedy than Harmes.
-
What do you think Bugg and Kennedy are ?
-
The point I'm making is that I'm ambivalent about two fringe-dwellers and that this is a very underwhelming trade period. I don't rate Lumumba either, but I suspect he'll be in initial calculations. And they don't replace Harmes, because they're not competing with Harmes. We backed them in on Newton, Riley and Mitchie. More fringe players. I always like posting a best 22 as it's interesting and I know clubs project their best 22 too. In essence, we're trading for depth. Exciting, isn't it ?
-
Dunno don't care.

You'd have to be within the AFL fraternity to really know. Freeman's ceiling is a mile higher than Howe's. It's whether you punt on an unknown AFL quantity over a C-grader's 100 game output. If I was confident in Freeman's injury I'd take his upside.
-
Howe is the best high mark in history, but he's an ordinary footballer and rarely impacts games.
