You can't have Walker in your list as Adelaide had access through a zone selection. The reality is that it's very hard to get decent tall forwards later in the draft and we haven't selected one since 2012.
-
He hasn't participated the last year or two. Not sure why.
-
He's prolific, but in my view not the best. Quigley is brilliant and there are others like Scoopdog, who I rate.
-
Yes. Petracca is 2 inches shorter than Stringer, but a far better mark. Petracca is brilliant overhead and I see him kicking 30 + goals most years.
-
No skullduggery, Stu. I accidently started posting in the post I was quoting (your post) and then deleted too far (back over your comments) and had to try to remember what your quote was. I didn't bother scrolling up. Not that it mattered or changed the context much. Ignore for you, Stu. Both of our lives will be happier. Well, maybe not yours.
-
Yep, things may turn out that way. Although I'm not sure there's another mid available that complements our midfield like Parish. If there was then taking Curnow at 3 would be a no-brainer (assuming we rate him as suggested).
-
You're a dill, Stu. I've already explained that I wasn't knocking Emma. The only poster on BF who I believe is overrated is Knightmare and it's easy to form such a conclusion when I've had access to his posts for years. Just as I've had access to the others who I rate. Why do you need to be spoon fed the bleeding obvious, Stu ?

"KPP notoriously take years longer to come on than utility/mids. How I see it is. Unless you are absolutely desperate for a fwd /back of any kind then you dont waste pointy end picks on a so-so player." Your comments above indicate to me you don't want to take the time to develop a quality young tall. I'd add that if we do draft a tall we obviously consider said player a "quality" prospect and not some "so-so player".

I'm not qualified to have an informed opinion.

Dom hit the nail on the head. With Tyson, Salem, Petracca, Brayshaw, ANB, Stretch, Viney, Melksham, Vandenberg we're well placed for a dominant midfield in the near future. Add Jones, Vince, one of P3 or P7 and hopefully Trengove and it makes sense to use one of these selections on a tall to complement Hogan. It just makes sense.
-
You want an instant fix. The club is building a list that will compete for a flag in 2020. Having a quality key forward to partner Hogan is part of that puzzle. I'll back the recruiters if they use P3 or P7 on one. Quality key forwards are nearly always drafted at the pointy end.
-
This doesn't surprise me. I've not read it elsewhere, so I'm claiming it as a first (Stu), but Hoges nearly always bounces the ball left-handed "Robbie Flower-style". Having a son who bowls left-handed, bats right-handed and plays tennis left-handed I recognised this with Hoges early on. It doesn't surprise me that he's a good left-foot kick.

I rate Quigley, Chris, Snoop Dog, and others ahead of the prolific Knightmare. But I hasten to add that it doesn't mean I wish Knightmare any harm in this life or the next. It just means I have an opinion of his opinion. And not losing "a nanoseconds sleep" over Emma's ratings doesn't mean I don't read her, respect her, or consider her opinions invalid, it means I have more faith in our full-time recruiting staff to get things right.

Clubs go in with a list of preferences and tick off accordingly. It's no biggie.
-
Show me where I've put anyone's opinion down.
-
And I've never suggested otherwise.
-
And we may not, we may take Curnow at P3. But whatever we do I won't lose a nanoseconds sleep over Emma's ratings.
-
So you consider her a greater authority than our recruiting panel ?

Jumbo admits Watts is a lemon, Stuie finally calms down Randle McMurphy style, and rpfc comes clean on his "only child" status.

The best commodity we have right now to gain traction in Melbourne City is Jesse Hogan and, of course, winning. As Lance Franklin showed, kids identify with a marquee player. Franklin was huge in elevating Hawthorn's brand - along with the 2008 flag. Off and on-field, Hogan is the best thing going for this club in eons.
-
I don't rate him much at all.
-
Another reason I'd like Parish is that he's exactly what we need. He complements our midfield perfectly.
-
So you're wanting to take a player whose best position is intercept defender and hope we can make him a quality forward ? I'm not saying we shouldn't btw, it's just I'd prefer the best natural forward at P7.

No modern game-plan dictates that a tall forward never leaves the forward 50. With presses, zones and guarding opponents it's an impossibility. No-one wants Hogan spending the bulk of his time away from the forward 50 where he can't impact the scoreboard, but I also want him using his speed, contested marking ability and fantastic footy nous setting up play and contributing to goal-scoring ball movement. Any great key forward uses multiple leads, angles, as well as strength/timing in marking contests, but Hogan is also a brilliant thinker. Having him permanently anchored in the forward 50 diminishes his ability to contribute to ball movement patterns. Hogan's an on-field architect. He needs to spend plenty of time in the forward 50, but also needs to involve himself up the ground where he can impact play. It also releases space behind him. We'll agree to differ.
