Healy’s problem is he’s the Ian Chappell of footy commentary

Agreed. Did you hear the line about Kozzie? "He's been good the last 2 weeks after a quiet game against Sydney" He clearly didn't remember Kozzie was suspended for the Sydney clash. The rest of the commentary team fell silent after that line

  2. As I sat in the members I reflected on two of the moves made off-season. Harmsey going to the dogs and Jibba joining the dees.

The emotion of losing a premiership player was hard to swallow, but the move was right for both parties. Billings was almost written off, and a bit of a risk for the dees.

Today's game showed the FD's vision, and if Billings can maintain form and fitness he may be the recruit of the year.

  3. Does anyone know if contracts can be restructured after signing to be front ended?

If we don't make a move this year for a player, we have dead cap space that is not being utilised in 2024.

Could existing deals be reworked to fill in the cap void in 2024 to free up space the following year(s)?

  4. I'll always love these two players for winning us a flag.

RE: list management, both contracts were educated decisions. If tmac and brown don't get hurt in 2022, we could have won that flag.

If they were fit and firing for this year, we could have won it .

Injuries are a part of the game, and we have been extremely unlucky inside forward 50.

Sadly I agree with most posters that these two guys probably aren't going to contribute in 2024, the injuries have taken a toll.

They won't retire, and will be a part of the 2024 season. I can't see either player making a comeback and dominating, but they may feature again in the 1s as depth selections.

  5. I feel like the sun's are going to have a tough time getting the "right price" for a top 10 pick after giving away a top 10 pick in Bowes and a first rounder for a half eaten dim sim last year.

I'd the suns hold him another year and he doesn't crack the team, he's going to cost as almost nothing at the trade table.

He could be on the move for less than the right price.

Not so convinced on your first point and the second point they have been saying that for a few years now and they haven't.

They won't make the 8 and will need to say goodbye to a number of best 22 vets this year and next. They don't have the cattle to come in and replace them.

    They are done.

  7. Josh Daicos is the best winger in the AFL. His decision making is elite.

Amazing to think he was thinking of giving it away a few years ago.

Cats are sold and slow and look like they are in for a big fall.

The cats situation is a cautionary tale for all list managers, you have to keep developing and turning your list over. Topping up and holding firm with your vets only works for a little while before it all goes belly up.

  8. I've watched Jeffo live a handful of times this year and his game and body are developing each and every month.

He has great hands, and can be a tall marking target.

I think it's important to note he's shared a vfl forward line during the year with the likes of BBB, Melky, Shache, Tmac, Grundy.

He's not the first in line for targets but works hard to be an option for his teammates.

  9. Dunstan likely won't be retained, and it is plausible to think Harmesy will be looking for more regular playing time and a contract extension elsewhere.

If the aforementioned players are playing elsewhere, and Jordon leaves via free agency we are looking very thin for depth when injuries occur.

I wouldn't blame Jordon for looking elsewhere, but there is a role to play at the dees for him if he is willing to sit on the fringe and take opportunities when they are presented.

  10. Blundstone Arena has not been a happy hunting ground for us, with our win loss record record being 1-3.

North supporters may be down and out, but they are harder to beat in tassie and even harder to thrash in tassie.

Dees should win this given north have nothing much to play for, but I'm not confident we will give them a hiding at this venue.

As a Demon supporter, trading for Harry McKay could be a game-changing move for our forward line.

McKay is a talented and dynamic key forward who over time will prove his worth on the field. His strong marking ability, goal kicking, and athleticism would complement our team's playing style and strengthen our scoring potential.

With McKay in our forward line, we could create a formidable attacking force and increase our chances of more success. Let's imagine the excitement of watching this bloke don the red and blue. I think it's time we seriously look at at trading for him?

On about a million a year, so which two contracted players get moved to accommodate his salary?

Blues would be wanting x2 top 10 picks which we can't currently satisfy.

Harry is a gun and a good fit for us, but I can't see how a deal gets done with Carlton.

  12. I'm no expert on recruiting junior talent, but I have taken notice of what Brisbane have managed to do by adding a top tier junior player

Brisbane were a contender, but needed to find another gear. They added Ashcroft, and also Fletcher and dunkley and now have arguably one of the best lists, if not the best list in the AFL.

It's the Ashcroft pick that lifted that side immediately. Reid would have that impact for us.

Our premiership window is open now, and may close in 2-3 years. Get Reid, chase another flag.

  13. I respect his greatness and contributions to the game.

But I can never forget the beltings we suffered at the hands of buddy and the Hawks during their dynasty.

He wouldn't have joined us during our darkest days, he doesn't deserve a look in during our brightest.

Good luck to him doing supplement commercials with his wife in his retirement.

    Thanks, but no thanks.
