  1. Gee whiz, what was Dom Tyson thinking...kick it down the line if you don't have any options in the middle. Not sure he is a certainty for round 1. Very average thus far.
  2. My god, just realised that this game is starting at 8:40...
  3. Wow, the guy commentating the Saints game (Sandy something) has no clue! He said St Kilda have Melbourne first round and then the next 4 four rounds are no easy bets (one of them is against Brisbane). How has this guy retained his job as a bloody football commentator?
  4. Petracca should shoot at goal more often instead of constantly passing it. Like he did today.
  5. Geez, Carlon will be fielding 29 players today.
  6. From what I've seen thus far, the Saints do have a stronger backline and forward line than us. We have a stronger midfield. Hopefully that will suffice, come round 1. This will be such a good game. Can't wait.
  7. The general consensus amongst the media is that the saints stopped trying after quarter time. Idk whether to believe it or not. The only evidence they provide, bar the sub par performance, was that the saints rested Riewoldt and Steven after half time. Saints will be the new beloved of the media after everyone gets sick and tired of the Bulldogs winning, methinks.
  8. Notable absentees for Bulldogs, from what I can recall, was: Bont, Wallace, Picken, Wood, Smith.
  9. Dominated that quarter. Should be ahead by more. Really impressed though.
  10. Can't wait to see our impeccable midfield in action: Lewis, Jones, Viney, Brayshaw, Oliver, Viney etc. Plus, this has to be the first time all of Petracca, Brayshaw, Salem, and Oliver are playing at the same time.
  11. Of course, the above doesn't apply if we play a team consisting mostly of VFL players. That's why I'm glad we've selected a strong lineup.
  12. For the most part, every teams opposition analyst will have a general idea about our game plan by the end of week 1. Practice matches will of course expedite that process. But it's worth it because like you said, through practice matches, we get to test the efficacy of said game plan and amend it when necessary, without facing any significant repercussions. I think this is a very valuable process. Describing it as ''just a run in the park'' is an understatement, at best.
  13. His 2016 form will suffice of course. But throughout 2014/2015, he was one of the best midfielders in the comp.
  14. Yes, but it's our first opportunity to see some of the newer guys like Jordan Lewis and Jake Melksham. Aside from that though, the main source of excitement is that footy is finally back!
  15. Seeing Jordan Lewis in Melbourne colors is getting me pretty excited. Not going to lie. Let's hope he regains his 2014/2015 form.
  16. I find it baffling that we and Fremantle were considered clear favourites over Brisbane. No one had even played a game yet! In any case, the women's footy this round was very entertaining. A bit frustrating at times, but I think the problem is my expectations. Some of these girls haven't even played footy before, let alone had 10 years to practise like the mens.
  17. Safety concerns (lightning and what not). Only the half was prematurely ended. I suspect the game will keep going.
  18. Ah you're right! Curious to see how this unfolds. I just want to watch footy again tbh though.
  19. My guess (left to right): gawn, hunt, watts, Vince, jones, daisy, viney, petracca, brayshaw, Hogan. What do I win? Tbh, the one that is most puzzling is the one fourth from the right. Who spikes their hair like that? Clearly, it's not Thomas Bugg.
  20. The AFL will try to prolong this as much as possible. So don't be surprised if our pick gets called out at 9pm or some such. Such is their greed....
