Shannon Byrnes is a goalkicker , he kicks a goal . Positive spin on Byrnes , have they watched him play in the last two years ? No insight and mumble through at best , x footballers should not be game callers . And make sure the callers are astute descriptive and leave their opinions usually formed from or leaning towards tabloid fodder/ sensationalisim aside . Its an absolute disgrace .

I went to North v dees at etihad a few seasons back . A mate works for blackwoods and had been given tickets through work . The seats were in the amongst the roos reserved seating area .they were livid after the first shout of cmon dees . They called security to no avail. It was tense but I hung in there for a half . It was going to be on for sure . I like the idea of the guest area in the olympic stand level 2 area. Ive taken mates in who support the opposition and we sat away from my reserved seat in the guest bay.

I have no idea why we persist with Byrnes. Cant hit a target with a handball and cost us .wattsy needs to get back to basics in the 2's and Howe the same. Terrible game with even our good players missing targets . Field kicking was bad . Umpires are a joke . Commentary on 7 is an absolute farce . Salem will keep up with the Joneses and BigCam showed his critics . We need another crumbing foward Byrnes retired Play Sammy .

Back to basics Jack . A spell in the 2 's is required .

Hopefully the Russian plays a blinder and we win .

Everything Chip has said points back to trying to get the best pay day in what could be his last prime deal. He says he " loves the club" and sees himself as an "old fellah" amongst the group and will let his manager direct him through the year. Posturing- hopefully we offer him what he is worth and even then some if needed. Chip doesn't have a poker face ( or a really good one? ) I will trust what he says.

No changes.. if Salems ready or Bleasey bring them in if there is an injury to a similar sized player.Garlo has to come in at some stage and Georgiou would be unlucky but thats how it goes. Terlich Watts Jetta JKH all did enough imo. Team stats were all in the negative ( bar hitouts ) and Roos wants more tackles , will he get that from dropping any of these guys?

Great comparison with TJ , its a pleasure to watch Jack and in dark times he is one of the reasons I've looked foward to going to games. His kicking and movement through traffic are sublime. He does need to be stronger in the marking contest. Maybe a bigger tank built after match fitness in his new role could help.I was miffed at the negative response in the Scully marking contest a few weeks ago. Scully tied him up in two armed tackle in that marking contest knowing full well he was done and Jack nearly marked it , definantly should have been a free kick. Do people really think he is scared or telling himself Im not getting that ball because I might hurt myself? I doubt he will be dropped.

Ive had a look at the replay after being at the game and viewed the majority of Wattsys 'incidents' with an open mind. He is a different player and is always trying to outhink the opposition and also keeps the umpire in mind when trying to create. Rather than take posession cop a tackle to draw a player he will try and beat his man/draw a free kick and on the weekend on a bad day and probably did short circiut as mentioned in the title of this thread. I think he cops a lot of criticicsim because people cant see what he is thinking and attempting, not the average Jack. Roosy will work with him on this Im sure. He is not soft. He tackles hard when he has to go ( who can tackle ablett? ) the thought process, he sees opportunity where others are on auto pilot. Hardly a reason to evict and banish. He gets open so often but we dont kick it to him. And then we do use him put it up on his head for an easy spoil. He also presents and keeps presenting and should be used every time. He needs to work on his game and fitness like any other player. Jack on a bad day still seemed to have positive influence on the game . how often does a player win a one on one against him? It' s all about stopping Jack or Jack not winning contests isnt it?

On the tram Was at the game . . . Watts is criticised often . He tried just wasnt his day . Team stats- wins -plus for hitouts . Watts would be a superstar in a hawks jumper . Team . . . Suns were too quick , and too big in attack . We need Garlo but we need someone bigger for a a defensive matchup . Go dees

This issue of having no tassie team could be solved by relocating Carlton down to Tassie. They have a big enough fan base to maintain membership and would probably play in melbourne most other weeks.

After watching him in the flesh and as mentioned in this thread he is just regulation quick . a ' natural ' , agile well balanced quick by hand or foot. Love the way he throws himself into the contest stacks on or when hunting the ball carrier. If only Bleasey could apply himself in a similar fashion. Cmon Sammy we need to have the JKH / Bleasey havoc machine.

Maybe send Mackenzie to Gaz with a view to harrass him for as long as he is out there. Gaz can be slowed down 'once in a red moon'. Cross plays tight on Omera and allows Jones Tyson Viney and co to hunt the footy . Although I think a contested game with less zoning and more one on ones would best suit the dees, the messier the better . Some great one on one footy was played and won last week against the carlscum.

Brett Kirk - Roos' successor?
CityDee replied to The Song Formerly Known As's topic in Melbourne Demons
Tough gig after the great Roosy' era ( if things go to plan ). The players will have to respect the new guy and it could be difficult with the standard set and attachment to Roosy I imagine. But if the new guy is awesome fantastic. Brett Kirk could be that guy.I wonder if Roosy could stay involved as a footy manager or a lesser role as a consultant type deal. Hope so. -
obviously a massive opportunity, hopefully the intensity and tackling will be cranked up again, we will need to be better than last week/ make the most of our scoring attempts . Will be interested to see if the Suns put work into any of our midfielders or attack exclusively.Hopefully Jake can palm a couple down and get us going. The backs will hold, and winners up foward could make for a very enjoyfull day. The great Gaz probably best of all time - Always a joy to watch but wouldnt mind seeing him subbed out in the first due to a Dawes tackle.

Training - Wednesday, 16th April, 2014
CityDee replied to Rod Grinter Riot Squad's topic in Melbourne Demons
I hope Nev gets elevated , he is hard and with full fitness will be valuable . More of a footballer and around the same size as Swan Ablett senior and junior . Allthough god would give him trouble -
Terlich has been good defensively one on one and we will need a player who can do similiar . Physical able to win a contest and break away to intercept . When Roos says Terlichs been great this year he is not joking . He was on saturday , won some great battles out on the wing half back flank . Ocassional turnover but its decision making more than skill error. Clisby may come in id like to see Jetta .
-
Georgiou was good, extremely strong in the contest . Hits hard , wont b long before he claims a couple B Pickett style .
-
Roosy - Best ! The dread i felt before half time when carlscum took momentum was swayed . Roosy knows .
-
I guess the emergencys for the last couple of weeks are contenders to replaceTerlich, Blease Nicholson maybe Trenners but we need leg speed imo
-
Big Jake was spent but willed himself to compete again and again , absolutely spent . well done big man . We tackled well , only stat we were ahead in and played through the middle at times ,won us the game.malthouse/neeld wreckers. Loved vineys purple patch . The carlton maggot that put his 4-20 wrapper in my beer , very lucky i was close to unleashing Rod Grinter style . Happy i didnt . Go Demons.

The continuing saga of Melbourne's injury list - 2014
CityDee replied to alpha33's topic in Melbourne Demons
Id like to see the injurys sustained at afl clubs over the last three years , reckon we have had our fair share of stress related injurys before a ball is bounced in anger . Maybe there is an issue more off legs pool work required? I know North have benefitted from a focus on core strength training in relation to soft tissue injuries . -
Interest Factor in football these days almost dead
CityDee replied to Soidee's topic in Melbourne Demons
It has been tough no doubt. A mate of mine is Tiges member. He had a very stressful week and was at the game where the tiges screwed up a 30 point plus lead going into the last quater. He was genuinly in a strange emotional state and had to exit the ground. I laughed and told him that I know how he feels. We are a resiliant bunch. Its kind of ironic that people on this thread have an interest factor of zero ( almost ) in regard to the saga that is being a demons supporter . Or is it a cry for help? We have seen some success. there was a very bleak period where die hards didnt see finals action from 1964-1987. Thats incredible support if you hung in there. It will turn. Any players that want to go . Go. Jack Viney knows what it means to wear the red and blue. its probably all he has ever wanted to do.Create a backbone of talent that love the jumper/club and the club has a responsibility to get it right and are on that path imo. Hang in there. -
