  1. as a athletic specimen he is perfect isnt he? toned, tall, strong, good mark. he actually isnt a bad kick but has probs in front of goal. but he has played 180 odd games and kicked 150 goals. not a bad career...could get 200...
  2. ive got a very good mates 21st on the 17th, possibly neitas 300th. what do i do then???? and for the record, i want to get married in late march, thee week before the season starts. cricket season is over, footy hasnt begun. the only weekend im free. cept maybe christmas!
  3. this goes against everything i've said. but if newton has to go back and play for sandy for a week or two i wont be too [censored] off. he has had a taste at afl and has performed well and learnt heaps. he could go back and apply that for a full 120 minutes at sandy and dominate. he has looked good at afl, but hasnt been the number 1, an experience which might be good for him. but i would rather see him play more games in the red and blue than the stripes at TBO.
  4. i couldnt care if sheedy is only with us for 1 year, as long as that year brings us a premiership. but in all honesty, why do we need a 10 year coach? a few good years will do me, then let someone else take over while we have his winning culture in place...
  5. oh i would love for that to be the case...
  6. i thought we had a bye. it is interstate isnt it? lol
  7. passion doesnt equal leadership. im not having a go at you but that point needs to be clarified.
  8. it needs to be fixed but the rules cannot be changed at this stage of the season. although the afl will argue it can change the rules whenever it wants and no one can complain because the aim is to win. i think the lottery where the bottom 8 get drawn for top 3 picks is a good idea. but could you imagine finishing last and getting 4th pick? i would be ropeable.
  9. jaded you make a good point but i think with our current list we are in the unique situation of being able to draft young kids as we challange for the success. i dont think we will win it next year if we trade a name or two for first rounders but the year after we could be looking much better. i think we have a very strong core of young players who will be a good unit for 10 years. drafting around that could give a new coach (sheedy) a strong team for 10 years, and the chance to win more than one flag. it is not a case of trade to win it next year before the window closes, it is that we are already 3-4 years into a 6-7 year rebuilding phase with names like mclean, sylvia, jones, dunn, bate, newton, bell, bartram, pettered, frawley, etc already on board. he is not starting from scratch, he is picking up in the middle of an up.
  10. i think we really need to get a kick on now. i cant see him going to freo, but melb and carlton are both looking for coaches as well. for some reason i dont see him at carlton, whereas i could see him becoming the new face of melbourne...i really hope we chase him if he is interested...
  11. brownlow results this link is interesting history wise...
  12. relocation might do him good. or it might be too much. mature age rookie for 1 year, keep a spot on the list to promote him if he puts in hard yards?
  13. did they have a source? and is he gone now or end of season? if he is gone, someone should be round there this arvo with a contract for him to sign...
  14. out of interest, cousins won his year with 21 votes. you already have ablett on 24, with 6 games to go.... does anyone know the highest brownlow votes ever?
  15. if you use the search function you'll find a thread where this was discussed last week...
  16. must've been interesting. out of interest the reason i believe the clubs get money from the afl is because they get all the profits. television rights, league sponsorships, tribunal fines, the list goes on. all this money goes into afl coffers. the afl spends what it has to on staff and the brand (advertising), etc etc and the rest goes back into the clubs. i believe it should be equal but im not sure about that...
  17. im a stayer boys and girls...i dont fly to the lead but with 6 rounds left i'll slowly reel in the competition and win that TBO hotdog (if its still the prize )
  18. im not sure his injuries have been age either, more bad luck. but his ability to heal does seem to be diminishing...
  19. in pagans credit, his coaching record goes back well efore north, ad it was retty good i believe. i thought he had won premierships coaching at both reserves and under 19 levels?
  20. i found this comment ironic given your current display picture/avatar...
  21. and you were doing so well. hadnt wet your pants for 3 weeks! keep trying buddy, you'll be toilet trained soon
  22. it was a classic from behind spec, over the skipper i believe. he got his knees up on the shoulders just from the jump, hands were up chest height already, then he straightened his body to give him that extra height before he marked it and came down over the front. he twisted slightly falling to the left. great mark, will be motw no worries, and from seeing it today i reckon it will take something special to beat it for mark of the year. it was a classic hanger of the highest order. unless there is something out of the ordinary, like morecrofts, i think this is a good chance.
  23. i dont like that. there is still a couple of hours before the game. and there is always the pre game warm up. someone should be kept in reserve.
  24. do you reckon you could adopt doggy brown and ward for the rest of this year? help clean out our list...
