wasnt mcphee out with sylvia and didak? that implicates three clubs at once...
-
im gonna go out on a limb and say neitzs body is not as bad as everyone thinks it is. his injuries have been bad luck. broken bones, collision to the knee. not soft tissue injuries which are typical of body failure.
-
well at least you can't lose while you have possession of the footy! \ loved that post, made me smile visibly (not just on the inside).
-
jacey, if i were you i'd be barracking for scotty t more than kane cornes...

is it just me, or have there been an extraordinary number of big name retirees this year? Mark Ricciuto, Chris Johnson, Chris Scott, Michael Voss, Anthony Koutoufides, Matthew Lappin, James Clement, James Hird, Troy Cook, Shane Parker, Ben Dixon, Richie Vandenberg, Glenn Archer, Jonathan Hay, Clint Bizzell, Nathan Brown, Byron Pickett, Josh Mahoney, Michael Wilson, Darryl Wakelin, Darren Gaspar, Ray Hall, Kent Kingsley, Trent Knobel, Fraser Gehrig, Aaron Hamill, Andrew Thompson, Brett Voss, Rowan Jones, Josh Wooden, Luke Darcy, Brett Montgomery, Matthew Robbins, ok i know there are a lot of average players retiring also but there is a lot of cream in that is, is it more than normal?

great post. bailey is shaping as a real goer isnt he? i wonder if he can coach...
-
no way. hopefully he nominates one club. otherwise it will be a bidding war. collingwood can bid all they want to get the price up, but the bids are not binding... i dont want that scenario at all. it will not be worth getting him.
-
good point. losing robbo means benny could play more bit parts up forward. his kicknig still worries me, but if he is the third tall, (neitz and newton) then its not a bad idea... remembering players like bate, dunn, sylvia will rotate thru the forward line...
-
im spewing, went away for the weekend and i forgot to nominate! lol stinga you would have got three from me, not enough to win so it doesnt matter anyway. jaded you got lucky on this one! we can all get our revenge in the 'best mod' award! lol
-
you dont know how good you had it bobby! i'd kill to see us lose the grand final every year. it sure beats finishing 14th!
-
just wondering why you bothered to use the example of the afl top four considering you didnt use them again, after you mentioned they were top 4? lol
-
just brisy and sysndey for 'the cost of living'. imo that should be evened out across the board, adelaide costs less, so they get less. and fwiw i think they should have the same cap as everyone else, but all players are payed an additional 5% to cover cost of living. the only people who are seeing any of that extra 5% are the stars. and it gives them money to lure players with. it should be normal cap, and everyone gets a slight increase to cover the cost. that it isnt proves the afl is just trying to cheat the way for sydney...

it will all depend on what he says. if he says i want to go to x, or i go in the draft, then it will be alright. but if says i want to go to melb or collingwood then i think we should bargain and back out. as great as he is, if its a bidding war we're in we will lose. we should just bump up the price for collingwood. if he just picks one club, i think WC will have to settle for 1 player and 1 pick...if its a bidding war they will get loads more.
-
if WC have been able to pay judd, cousins, cox, embly, kerr, braun, et al without going over the salary cap, there is no reason why we cant fit judd into with our current list...
-
but it is only 10/112 on pants' list. thats only 8.9% of the whole 'analysis'... what his 'analysis' is saying is that the loyalty factor could be the few % difference between the decisions. if juss sits down at the end of the day and says, its a 50/50, or even perhaps 40/60, that extra % could be what swings it our way. and dont forget that 10 points are not only his own loyalties as a kid but the loyalty of his parents...
-
we're not scum... we are low key in the media compared to collingwood...eddie would be all over him 'judd this, judd that'... we're not scum... they have dale thomas... we're not scum... his family still go for melbourne... we're not scum... thats 7 good reasons to come to melbourne...

The single most important day since 1964

but imagine how insane it will be if he does choose us? -
thinking some more, if we could secure cloke for pick 4 so collingwood could judd i would take it, and i would trade robbo to the bullies for their first rounder, maybe throw something else in if we needed too... robbo would become redundant, cloke would be the other forward, (with neitz and newton next year). and the 1st round pick would then be worth more...
-
you know the thing with cloke, is that he seems to do a lot of things right but he cant kick. he really cant. i havnt watched him close enough to see if its because his kicking action is deficient, or if its in the head or what. if it was something the recruiters and footy dept. thought was fixable then yes, in a heartbeat, but if he's gonna be just another player who cant kick goals but should be, well then... he is young and can mark however, and this type of player is not too be sneezed at, so ignore that trade at your own peril.

interesting thoughts here... i agree i like that fact that our board isnt leaking. anything we've let on has been on purpose, in interviews etc, there has been no innuedeno about our club, and to me thats a good sign that we are all on the same page, working together, we are smart etc however, many others have been commenting on how we are the poor cousin behind these clubs, everyone talks about carlton this, collingwood that. could that be because we are doing the right thing and going quietly about getting him, or because we are really un-noticeable?
-
carlton would be a very different outfit with judd and stevens on the park. especially with some more time into murphy and gibbs. i dont think they will be top4 and prob not top 8 just yet but he would be a big steal. however, i think the trade would set them back more. they need to use the top picks to draft more youngsters, and getting judd would cost them too much at this stage...
-
good point, but im not sure if that applies in this case JC. because it is out of competition testing, not in comp, the charge is actually 'conduct unbecoming, or prejudicial to the intrests of the afl' and you front the tribunal. so the suspension isnt a wada-type banned from sport...
-
so my question stands. if he gets 12 weeks, would you be interested in picking him up?
-
just wondering if certain things would hamper your want to get a player in trade week. a tribunral suspension for striking etc i wouldnt be too worried, as long as the player doesnt have a history of striking every year or more, because they'll prob spend more time on the sidelines (and you prob dont want them anyway). an injury that will keep them out for a significant period. judd has a groin that could be 4 months away. what if a player had a broken leg? if it is an injury that will defs be overcome i say it doesnt matter, especially if it makes the deal cheaper for us. what about tested positive OoC to illicit drugs? the penalty for that is up to 12 weeks (for the 3rd strike). would you not want a player with this sort of history? what if it was a young gun who would definitely be n onfield asset? is it enough to turn you off? could you write it into a contract that if he ever fails a drug test again he forfeits the remainder of his contract, or even the contract for that year too? perhaps you could make it serious, fail again and you forfeit your any payments from the contract but must remain contracted for the duration of the contract...ie you cant play but remain listed, or unable to play for another club...
-
very good point. im not sure if collingwood has anyone id want to give up pick 4 for however...if a team wants to get judd and they want our first round pick i want to be trading that pick for a KP.
