I'd move on Trengove and Toumpas. Both are not the type of players that will take this club forward. If Howe has any trade value, I'd move on him. Delist Fitz, Bail, Pederson and Brynes. Bring in some more kids now. We need a clean out.

The AFL need to step in and help us get competitive. Our list is a shambles, there is a big gap in drafting due to years of throwing away picks. Players like Morton, Gysberts, Maric, Cook, Strauss, Tapscott, etc. These are players that should be in their primes, they were quality picks and we are now reaping what we sown. If we continue to get belted each week, we will lose even more members. Either the AFL fold us, or they help us out, there is no in between, we need draft picks.

I think the OP's list is very accurate.

Changes for next week...
KingDingAling replied to The Song Formerly Known As's topic in Melbourne Demons
Yeah, not often I watch an AFL side and think I could do better. From what I seen today, I'd move a lot of players on. -
The only logical explanation now is that he never had it.

Times like these when I am glad to be banned from big footy.

I agree.. Not to mention Toumpas, it was evident last year that he was weak through the core - nothing has changed.
-
No, we don't.. But the alternative is that we aren't competitive, cannot attract members or retain players - ultimately we get worse and fold. If the AFL are confident that we now have a competent board and structure in place, then they will need to allocate us draft picks. I agree that other clubs will go up in arms, but there is no other alternative. We are paying for bad drafting.. Morton, Gysberts, Cook, Maric, Strauss. Not to mention a raft of others. These picks are now coming to bite us, you can't bottom out, draft poorly and expect things to improve just because Paul Roos is in charge.

DEMONLAND PLAYER OF THE YEAR - ROUND TWO
KingDingAling replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
3. Dom Tyson. 2. Nathan Jones. 1. Dunn show. -
WC could rest 3 quarters of their side over there before finals - and still put 10 goals on us.
-
Sadly I agree. Roos is our last hope. We need to keep Roos and the AFL need to allocate us 2 PP's at years end. If we lose Clark and Frawley, then things are going to get FAR worse, I do agree that we cannot sustain much worse than present.
-
If you seen the Simpson interview at half time, you could see he was furious. The scoreboard flattered us, West Coast should've piled on another 30-40 points. I haven't looked at the draw, but I sure as hell hope we don't play them over in WA anytime soon.
-
Obviously he isn't in the right frame of mind to even decide if he wants to play football. After treatment, then hopefully we'll get answers. Pushing Clark right now, that solves nothing. Let's just concentrate on what we can control, which is Dawes, Hogan, Viney, Jamar, Gawn and getting Garland back out there. Forget about Clark. Even the media is leaving this one alone.

Quality draft picks that we've used on Morton, Cook, Gysberts, Dawes, Strauss, Blease, Tapscott, Maric. We are paying for those picks. We did not draft well at all. Those players should be really hitting their straps around now - yet we are getting nothing, it is a BIG gap in drafting. Pile that on top of GC and GWS concessions, when we tailed out. I am not surprised we are ordinary, I am only surprised that others are surprised.
-
I'd float Trengove for trade at years end. If he nets us a first rounder, we've hit the lottery.
-
Dom Tyson is a star. This is what other clubs expect of top 5 picks. It is a miracle it happens at MFC.

These days all organisations nurture mental illness, they identify it and go about treating it. Pushing mentally ill players away isn't how to run a club. I wouldn't want to support a club that just cut guys who were mentally ill - and players wouldn't want to come here also. If you are going to be angry, fair enough, but isn't the fault of this football department, it is the fault of the last. The writing was well and truly on the wall before we drafted Clark.
-
Yeah, it's always hard to give things up, no matter how little value they actually hold.
-
That kid has got it. JKH just has that belief, we need more of this. This is the Roos drafting. Imagine what Roos could've done with our era of BP picks.
-
Roos thought he'd seen the worst of football at Fitzroy, poor bugger.
-
Yeah, I agree. We've been down the bottom with WC, Richmond, Port.. All those sides drafted relatively well and are on the up - meanwhile we are sinking lower and lower.
-
Yeah, I agree, I wouldn't sell out to retain Frawley. Retain Dunn and pin point an A grade mid from another club. We are going to need a stack to get a Dangerfield type across, but we need to do that. If we can get our forward line up and running for next year, then we have to target an elite mid.
-
I don't think hassling Clark is the answer. We have Dawes and Hogan on the sidelines, let's just get them on the park - then worry about Clark.
-
So weak through the core. Was weak through the core during under 18's, then had surgery and for some reason we picked him up. Meanwhile Ollie Wines was looking like Selwood mach II during the champs and we overlook him. We needed a Selwood type player, not a Camporalee.

I see why Dom Tyson was drafted at pick 3 by GWS. He is a star. Was a good trade by Roos.
