Carlton deserved it, good win.

Bit tough on the kid. Hang in there he'll be right. My young bloke barracks for Port, because his favorite player is Ollie Wines. I hope MFC targets Wines for a couple of reasons these days. Once he is old enough to make decisions for himself, I will tell him it's MFC or out on his ear.

Players to target at the end of the year

Jamar will bounce back and Gawn is about ripe. Have faith in our ruck stocks, they aren't as bad as some make out. -

Never underestimate the Kings soldiers on the ground. -
There is a unique inner drive about some kids who have done the hard yards. I'd rather us take a punt on one of these kids - than take a punt on another private school bottom feeder.

That kid from Adel, Reilly I think it is.. Is supposed to be pretty handy, I haven't seen him play - but the wraps on the kid are that he is ahead of Michie. -

I couldn't believe we overlooked Parker. I'd nearly give up our first rounder for him now, nearly.. -
Robbo just said he thinks Moloney's career is finished
KingDingAling replied to Gorgoroth's topic in Melbourne Demons
Beamer would dominate any league under the AFL. He is just a bit stiff due to circumstance, as Brisbane desperately need to fast track some kids. Moloney finds himself in a similar position than he was in here. The only difference is, Brisbane actually have a decent core of young mids. He should count his lucky eggs that Rich isn't playing atm. -
We are 1 and 4 after 5 rounds, we've played the weaker sides, apart from West Coast - and they gave us a hiding. If we were judged upon results, it is pathetic. But given the state of our list, I don't think it is realistic to expect results much better than 1 and 4. We are in terrible shape and it is going to take Roos quite some time to see game winning results. The signs are much better under Roos, it is just he is coming from a long way back - a long, long way back.

As much as I'd love to see him kick out for us, I vote to leave both Salem and Toumpas in the VFL for the whole year. I don't want to see either in the AFL this year. Give these kids a chance to develop and gain confidence. Give Roos a chance to play fringe players instead, it will be a decent cull come seasons end.

With Strauss comes a lack of awareness. IMO he'll have to really thump the door down.

Agree 100%.

Bit cold for him maybe?

I hold no hope for Watts anymore. I think he can be of some use forward. But it comes down to aggression - or lack of it. I'd be scraping the barrel, but I'd probably throw Watts in the midfield and leave him there. He'd be useless there, but he'd either have to fight to get a kick - or he'd soon find himself in the VFL, then another club. I'd maybe even throw him in the ruck, he'd have to find a way to use his body. That would be scraping the barrel.

Hawkins was a junior 'flat track bully', going alright atm. Mentally, Watts is still a boy against men, it is just unfortunate that Trengove also slides into that category. I don't have the answers, but I know they need more aggression. Maybe they've been nurtured by females all their lives, I do not know.. But it is no coincidence the young Selwoods are the best Selwoods, they've had to fight for it. Trengove and Watts have it handed to them, they don't have to fight for anything. I rules Crouch out when I watched an interview last year, said he laid his brother Brad out at a family do. I thought, well, that rules him out from MFC.
-
Watts is a good forward, but he is only serviceable in other positions. I think Jack is a couple years off playing the football he needs to play. It all comes down to aggression, it's just not there atm, mentally he is still a boy. Jack is the type of guy who I assume still lives at home. It is above the shoulders with Watts, it isn't football related. Why I think he is a good forward and average in other areas, is because if we can deliver to him - he'll convert. But.. Jack won't work for the leather, that won't come until he becomes a man.

What stands out most to me are Geelongs leaders. MFC have a great leader in Nathan Jones, a few years too late - but that is another story. Geelong have 6-7 guys that lead like Jones.. They have Selwood, Bartel, Johnson, Hawkins, Taylor, Kelly and Mackie, all leaders in their own right. MFC have Nathan Jones, that is the difference. We have Viney coming through and hopefully Hogan. But.. We lack leaders, no doubt. It's why Cross also stands out, Geelong is full of the those type of guys.

I'm not jealous, this is what football is all about. These two sides give us GREAT games. I'd love it to be Melbourne, but we'll have our time.
-
Great pick up, Cross is a leader and teacher. He adds a lot to our club.

First year or not, Salem can kick. Problem solved. It is a kick out for christs sakes, it's hardly going to compromise his development. We aren't this precious surely? Plus, it is our recruitment that has let us down over the past 5 years. You can develop spuds all you like, dress em up and roll em out, but at the end of the day - they will still be spuds.
-
Salem can kick out. Problem solved. Was surprised the directive yesterday wasn't to keep the kickouts away from Ablett. It needs to be a combined effort to stop Gary and the kicker didn't pull his weight. Jordie was good.
-
Crouch dominated yesterday, was very busy. He should be a demon, will come back to bite us.
-
Salem you freak.

Sick of getting raped by the umps.

Thanks Roosy.
