Cross and Dunn were good down back. Kennedy Harris is one of those rare players - where he just looks dangerous everytime it comes near him. I watch Kennedy Harris and expect him to win every contest, it is the sign of a great player. Salem a good start with 5 kicks for the quarter. Good to see Jamar throwing his weight around.

Pederson has improved a lot, last year he wouldn't of led for that.
-
Gray ran under the ball there. Port going really well, their pressure and spread is killing us.
-
Hope we have someone locking down on Polec.
-
Nah, I didn't realize we had Dawes out (forgot he was suspended). If we had Dawes in, I'd of left a ruckman at home - not subbed him.
-
I didn't mind it, I'd actually sub a ruckman against Port - or probably leave one at home. If we get beaten by Port, it will be by their run, that is their weapon.
-
Great news that Salem isn't sub anyway. Looking forward seeing what he can do, I think he is a special player.
-
That is a smart move. Port are a running side, we can't afford to carry too much tall timber. If we are going to win - we are going to have to run with Port. Given that Lobbe will ruck a full game, he'll be up against it anyway - as we have forwards who can give our main ruck a chop out.

Is Cale Morton going to be there?

Such a brilliant player, very unique, very skilled, classy and talented. Sadly, that only extended to the football field. Jurrah obviously has problems - like many of us do - and I hope he concentrates on his problems, and not football. I don't think Liam can take any short cuts and I hope he realizes the extent of his behavior and how damaging to others it can be. Jurrah could make it back to AFL, no doubt.. But IMO he'll never have the collective attitude that Roos need - in order to draft him. Roos operates on collectively and selflessness. If Jurrah had more of those 2 things, he wouldn't be in his current position.

Swans were my pick at the start of the year - still they remain my pick. But I wouldn't base them a sure thing, just on last night. Sydney were always going to match up well against Geelong, they are similar sides. The challenge will come during the finals against Hawthorn and Fremantle. Both Hawthorn and Fremantle play extremely disciplined football, they play to structures extremely well. I think they could hurt Sydney on the outside come finals time.
-
I see no reason why we can't beat Port. So on that, I give us a chance. Port are nothing special, they get there on hard work and gut running. If our fitness holds out, we'll give it a shake.
-
I agree that he could quite easily make it back. The weight is off his shoulders, I assume he is dealing with his issues, we'd have support structures in place, he'd be untouched by the media. I don't think they'd be any real pressure on Clark if he were to come back. It would be good for football and I could see him having support across the AFL. He'd be in a much better position than he was when he left the game. Either way, wish him the best, he seems like a genuinely good person.

If Vlad wanted to stop the tanking investigation into MFC, he could've. In the end, the evidence wasn't there - yet they still handed down fines, Vlad isn't a guy who goes by the book, he is a guy who answers to no one.
-
We have Vlad to thank for tarnishing our name and dragging us through the tanking saga. Over 10 sides tanked before us and some more blatantly, yet Vlad decides to drag our name through the mud. Roos and PJ are great, but the damage the tanking saga done to MFC is irreversible.

Players to target at the end of the year
KingDingAling replied to JackVineyForPresident's topic in Melbourne Demons
The key is to find players who want out of their club. If Sydney don't play Mitchell, he might want out. Would be worth asking the question, he is one of the best youngsters in the competition. -
I can see why we've tried to play him in both. The fact is, Trengove doesn't have the pace to play as an outside midfielder - but he does his the class and finish. However, because he doesn't have the breakaway pace, he isn't effective at all.. So we try play him as an inside midfielder, but the problem with that - is that Trengove doesn't have the aggression or toughness to play as an inside midfielder. Trengove needs to play with more intent if he is to make it as a midfielder.

Has Tom Mitchell done much? You not watch last year? I'd have Mitchell at least on par with Shiel and Treloar. -

If Tom Mitchell continues to get overlooked in Sydney, I'd be throwing the sink at him. Absolute gun! -
You are only as good as your last game, Trengove is of Casey standard, maybe not even. I think he has a lot of work to do, A LOT. From what I've seen of Jack Trengove the past 2 years, it will be hard for him to break back into the senior side. The problem? He lacks aggression, a will to get the ball at any cost. MFC is no longer a side where you just go through the motions. I haven't been impressed by Trengove the past few years, he has much work to do.

I think Tom Scully is dragging them down. From all reports, the kids at GWS regularly slag off their opposition - and are known for getting ahead of themselves. Everything that has been said about the GWS, it just sounds exactly like Tom Scully, and.. Given Tom Scully is their feared and respected leader, I am not surprised they are acting like a bunch of half witted sociopaths.
-
You'd give up picks 3 and 4, just to clarify? Or pick 3 or possibly 4? I wouldn't give up 2 high draft picks for those 2 players. Shiel, yes.. In a heart beat for mine. Tomlinson, no.. Not even nearly, done not a lot.
-
Welsh was spot on, well said. We get a bit precious with these footballers, but when professional AFL footballers are getting done by part timers. Then I have no problem at all Welsh letting fly.
-
No for mine, too expensive, won't come for less than a mill.
-
I like watching GWS fail, because the decision to include them in the competition was based around potential revenue. The decision to include GWS in the competition wasn't about whether it would make the AFL a better game to watch - it was instead about those missing dollars in NSW. I'd strip 4-5 sides from the competition and have teams play each other twice. It would make the game, better, fairer and even out the talent coming into the competition. I wish the AFL were realistic, but instead, they include GWS, GC and just further devalue the overall game. The AFL cares more about the brand - than the game... But, what they need to realize is that, the game is the product of the brand - devaluing that product damages the brand itself, especially in the long term..
