  1. I drove up to Canberra for the game with a crew of demon mates, optimistic of a good showing but mindful of my fathers words. "Never back a horse second up after a spell." And how right he was. Devastated by the lack of effort. Confused that professional footballers could not take clean possession. Confounded that leadership can disappear within 1 short week. Feelings of deja vu. Fortunately the beer was cold at the ground, the red wine flowed that night and was complimented by the cleansing of Olympic proportioned venting. I am not concerned about who is in or out I just want effort applied to the task at hand. So re-attach the heart strings and take it up to the crows. Go Dees.
  2. Not sure but I thought Brad Miller was our development coach? If so as he moved on or is he going to fill an assistant coach role?
  3. These costs will pale into insignificance once the 34 players eventually take Essendon to court for compensation. Failing in their duty to provide a safe workplace, loss of earnings and inability to pursue their careers, pain and suffering due to stress and pressure that the elongated denial of responsibility that Hird and Little are happy to continue and so on and so on. Where are they going to find the money? Will the afl bail them out? Only a miracle can save this club. I feel sorry for their players and supporters. Well Hirdy sit back and count your money and Little enjoy your business interests. There may be a place for a Tassy side shortly.
  4. Its going to be interesting how the AFL handles this issue. Its a direct attack on its system of player movement. They surely cannot let this go unchecked otherwise it will open up a new pathway to move clubs if a player is happy to sit out for a year, a season or a few months whilst enjoying their retirement benefits.
  5. I would be very surprised if we trade Kent. He has great speed and acceleration has kicked 9 goals in 11 games has been with us for 5 minutes. Believe thre is abig upside to Kent at MFC?
  6. I agree that Bail wouldn't get a game in higher ranked teams, but I also agree that he has improved this year and he has been consistent in his application more so than some the others making up numbers on match day. What I find interesting is that Roos has preferred to play Riley and build his fitness and regularly use him as the sub rather than bringing a fit player in from Casey. It's an indictment on the remaining players on the list, so I am expecting a ruthless approach to improve the side. I don't care who stays or goes and am tired of 7 years of crap under achieving, unskilled footballers.
  7. One of the aspects of the modern game that annoys me most is that teams allow the opposition to switch the play from one side of the ground easily and without pressure when coming out of defence. I was at the game on Sunday and Port often had a chain of 4 or 5 players across the ground doing just this. I cannot understand why players are not dropped back to play man on man on a least 2 players in the chain therefore the player with the ball either has to attempt a riskier long kick to a free man or are forced to kick to a contested situation up the ground. I hate it when opposition players rake up easy possessions in these situations and move the ball often without pressure.
  8. Tribunal has just confirmed their inability to be independent and fair thinkers in the process of justice. Puppets of the AFL agenda.
  9. Can the tribunal be charged for bringing the game into disrepute?
  10. We'll the tribunal tonight has identified the type of players we need. Players that have had ballet lessons so they can pirouette on left and right feet to avoid a contest.
  11. AFL GUILTY Well Gillion up to you now. How can you have attacking footy if you cannot commit to the contest??
  12. Skills and speed have to be the priorities for us moving forward. We have lacked in these qualities for far to long. I am tired of turnovers via poor disposal by foot and handballs to ankles and over head. So if players fit this bill then put them to the top of the list.
  13. A bystander in a group of spectators shows more effort and intensity than Jack. He will go done as another AFL player that had the talent but not the mental aptitude to take it to any acceptable level.
  14. Great to see a young player with good kicking skills in the side. Well done Christian first game first touch and first goal
  15. Really impressed with Watts form tonight. Particular happy with the effort put into waving of arms and pointing in various directions. Running on and off the bench was breath taking and running consistently and beautifully around the ground keeping a watchful eye on the opposition. Am sure the Casey develop squad is waiting with trembling anticipation.
  16. Sadly a mediocre career from 157 games in a time when mediocre performance was accepted at the MFC. The team will be far better of without the spectre of "potential" haunting long suffering supporters for future seasons.
  17. Seemed to me that Matt Jones as picked up a bit more pace. Did anyone else notice this?
  18. Happy to put your house on and share the spoils.
  19. Ibbottson would be a great pick up, although the priority has to be Frawley so throw the bickies at him him first. Hopefully our improvement next year is enough to convince him to stay.
  20. If Aidan can add some much needed mongrel and grunt to the mid field then I am most happy to have him in the red and blue. One point of interest for me is just how bad the break to his leg was? And will we actually him on the track and available for round 1 selection at Casey or MFC, or adding to the cursed rehab group for a prolonged period of time?
  21. Noted that David Misson indicated that Grimes is back from leave early and training already and was on the training track first day with with the younger players. I believe this is a statement by Grimes that he is the captain of the MFC and wants to retain the captaincy. A fine young man who has taken the the first opportunity set the standard. A good start to pre season for me.
