  1. Clearly, our once in two generations premiership coach has lost the players.
  2. No doubt that Geelong and Scott are terrific operators, kudos to them. Now, with that out of the way, I detest the armchair ride that club get from the AFL and hope that the headrest catches on fire about 4/5 into the GF and the whole thing falls off the tracks.
  3. Oof, Luke. Dunno how often it works when people return to WA. The childhood experience is so different from the adult one, I reckon, if you have been exposed to bigger, less isolated cities. Not to mention becoming the biggest, youngest, flashiest fish in a very small pond. His family is going to need to get around him, cos he will be on the backpage more often than not. Personally, the thought feels suffocating. I wish gratitude and luck to the young fella and would much rather see the Dockers land him than WCE who can continue to go and [censored] themselves forever and a day.
  4. Super proud of Daisy and, more importantly, her teammates or those in her life who are playing important roles in educating others. She is a beaut and has the profile, but I reckon there's a fair few in that team who are making sure that there is better cultural awareness and understanding than what we've had until now. (Make them all queen/king for a day then abolish the whole thing.)
  5. Just here to say thanks for everyone who works with numbers. Can't stand 'em, myself.
  6. Best of luck Jacko, thanks for your service and for being part of something that I think all of us here will savour for the rest of our lives. I would be all up for MFC fans cheering him thankfully for the rest of his career. Although that might mess with his head a bit 🙃 Ta Dogga!
  7. Some might refer to the latter as Ben Brown's wasteful year...
  8. Culture is important. So too is a decent, second tall forward. Following a premiership side has been a new experience for all of us and I'm sure we've all learned a lot from it as well. I thought we would go B2B but now I have more understanding of how hard thay can be. But just because we didn't win it all this year does not mean that we need to throw out the program and start again completely. We tweak some things and go again. That's what successful teams look like. It's not 'all or nothing'. We will be competing for a few years and, only when this team starts to wane will be able to judge our success properly. If we get to this position again (reigning premiers) it will be interesting to see how, next time, we all deal with the expectation that comes with scaling the mountain. Same goes for the players and coaches. Go Dees
  9. Real bummer but that's footy. Still better than being a perennial cellar dweller. I reckon our list is set up for long term goodness and long term Goodwin-ness. This game is tough as anything and nothing can be taken for granted. Didn’t make it this year, have another crack next year and then again the year after. All I ever wanted was a team that competes and, despite this season going down the tube, this is still what that looks like. Go Dees (and c'mon Freo somehow.)
  10. Mmm. Despite some strong arguments against, I'll back in our premiership coach. If it doesn't pan out, it doesn't pan out. Been a great year and I'm grateful to everyone at our club for making it what it is. P.S I reckon it'll pan out.
  11. I highly doubt JVR will come in. Great VFL form and such a prospect, but what we haven't seen is how he shapes up against AFL players at training. Seems to me they reckon he still has a way to go to close that gap. Personally I'm stoked we are no longer the club throwing great white hopes to the wolves. Goody is a method man and his method is process and stability.
  12. No doubt there's been a few of these for the Brissy coach in the last week. He's been burning sage, sipping cacao and paying homage to every tree/goal post god he can to try and dispel his team's Demons.
  13. A mighty test of our team and club. Leave it to the experts whether he plays or not. As to the argument that he will be targeted, well... I'm not sure how you legally target a fibula...
  14. Tussle of the big cats Media narrative: Tigers are a top 4 team wearing the cloak of a bottom-half-of-the-8 team. Lions hAVe nO heARt. My prediction: close game, Lions will come out on top because they are a better team, playing on their home deck and probably have a more calculated fitness base for this stage of the year. Zorko to tell Lynch he smells funny but it's ok as long as he is being himself. Brissy by 9 pts. Canberra cup Media narrative: Syd-nay an amazing unit, playing two years in front of itself, well drilled and led by a tactically brilliant coach. The Dees are a quiet juggernaut, seemingly ramping up towards the sort of finals form that made the entire competition wet itself in fear 12 months ago. However Sydney can win because they beat us by two goals 3 months ago. My prediction: Sydney to show up and a very hard fought game for the first 4 minutes. Dees to put on 5-8 goals in each of the first two quarters and keep Sydney to 56 pts over the match. MFC by 48 points. The backyard battle twix bird and beast Media narrative: GFC are the greatest institution to ever exist, Chris Scott is some sort of demi-God wielding a troop of the greatest warriors to ever walk the earth. How can we be so blessed to witness such greatness? Pies the young, up and coming list full of verve and audacity, both of which they have acquired through heavy gumption training sessions. My prediction: Geelong are bloody good and I reckon they will smash Cwood, but also largely cos the pies are like us in 2018. They will run out of legs. That being said, they are a way more experienced team than the narrative around them and there is a chance they can take their run one game further. Honestly, if this game wasn't being played at the G, my favoured result would be the entire stadium collapsing in a giant sink hole at half time. It kind of makes me sick to think about these two teams at the same time. Puddy-tats by 37 pts, AFL to order a pyramid be built next to Science Works, dedicated to Chris Scott and a raft of tissue injuries for Geelong. The 'why can we not send them further west?' Trophy (aka the Docklands derby) Media narrative: 🦗 My prediction: At some stage on Sunday evening we will remember that this game happened, check the scores and find that Freo have dismantled the dogs. This is because Freo are a very good footy team and will make their way to a prelim, if not a GF. Also, on the other hand, the Dogs suck. Purple monsters by 25 pts
  15. Beautiful. Estonia in late summer with the sun doing what it does and the harvest imminent, bliss. Sounds like a great trip
  16. As an Estonian passport holder this makes me very happy. Get to Tartu if you can!
  17. No change with Salem still on the sidelines. Nibbler would almost be first name on team sheet. Unless a better user comes along who can do the gut running of ANB, he will be a 200+ gamer for us. A true, underrated star.
  18. Yep! Defo. He led the Melbourne chant and was unknowingly a pretty major figure in my childhood
  19. In the 90s there was the bloke who ran the cheersquad, the name Hokko printed on the back of a Dees hoodie comes to mind but that could be misremembered through the fog of time.
  20. What a cracking match. The tape can go straight to the pool-room. Put it in a soundproof box, though, so we don't have to listen to Hamish whatshisface try and ruin an all time classic MFC win on the bell with his bemoaning the fortunes of the losing team's supporters. He can [censored] right off. I still can't understand how any Dees supporter can't be absolutely rapt that this is what we are living through. Onwards. Go Dees
  21. Stoked for you! In September I'll get to see my family for first time in 4 years. That's a decent contract's worth of time, Jacko
