  1. Yep edited 4 times but forgot this part here. http://www.scpaige.com.au/2013-phantom-draft-september-edition/
  2. Ah ok thanks for clearing that up. So whats the hype with Freeman on demonland given we need inside mids and a truck load of them?
  3. McStay - Club: Eastern Ranges/East Ringwood D.O.B.: 24.6.95 Height: 194cm Weight: 88kg Another player who has impressed me this year, Dan McStay has had a superb season, another player who really flourished in Tom Boyd’s absence at Eastern. For McStay, he has established himself as the ultimate swingman, possessing the ability to be switched forward at any time. More often than not in 2013, McStay started forward, and was often thrown back if things were getting out of hand, but it’s in defence – his natural position – where he shines the brightest. What I love about McStay, is that he isn’t afraid to take contested grabs, crash packs or get physical with opposition forwards. Very athletic, composed and calm under pressure – McStay relishes the opportunity to shut down the gorilla key forwards, and doesn’t mind making them play accountable football by penetrating the defensive 50 and making himself an option. Brilliant left foot, ultra clean hands – another package player who gives you a bit of everything. Giles Club: Woodville West Torrens/Blyth Snowtown D.O.B.: 5.5.95 Height: 195cm Weight: 93kg Like a small Jack Russell thinking he is a pit bull, Cameron Giles – a 195cm ruck/defender believes he is a midfielder. Giles is an absolute ripper of a prospect, and in terms of development could be absolutely anything in the coming years. Giles can do it all; ruck, play in defence or even swing forward – and if he’s feeling a little bit fancy, he’s also an attacking winger! It is however, in defence when Giles plays his best game – taking big scalps in the National Championships on Max King, Dallas Willsmore and Michael Apeness, in a brilliant display of shutdown football. The Crows would love an athletic big man to add to their ranks, and they get that in Cameron Giles. Fort Club: Geelong Falcons/South Barwon D.O.B.: 4.10.95 Height: 196cm Weight: 84kg A key defender who constantly wears down his opponent, Fraser Fort had a fantastic season and could go higher than where I’ve placed him. However, with Ayden Kennedy and Luke Delaney most likely leaving the club, Fort could be groomed to take over from Michael Firrito, and will be a future A-Pillar in defence for the Roos in the years to come. Terrific one-on-one, elite overhead and also has shown versatility to play up forward which makes him a hot prospect come draft day. I like the sounds of McStay & the versatility of Giles, however admittedly I have never seen any play.
  4. Yep agreed losing Frawley is a MASSIVE step back. Critical we keep him however I dont want to be discussing this time next year the fact we lost him for nothing (or not what he is worth).
  5. Agreed, I'm being greedy however we need every midfielder possible. Still Freeman (inside mid), Impey (small forward) and Jansen (inside mid), Cross (PSD) would be very welcome additions. Add Viv, Vince, Tyson we will have a positive trade/draft period.
  6. I dont want to be greedy but is there any way we can obtain Freeman & Crouch? Are there any players worthy of trading for the ability to obtain both these two? Tapscott & Blease wont cut it, I have suggested Frawley before only if he wants out but personally cant see how to recruit both players...anyone see a way?
  7. Does anyone here think we can maintain Frawley? And should we seek a trade next week before we potentially lose him for nothing? A team like GWS, Hawthorn, North Melbourne, Carlton are screaming out for a FB. Frawley + Pick 53 for a teams first and 2nd round pick?
  8. Couldn't have said better myself. I am not convinced with Tyson and Vince however I agree I should give them time and have faith in the new direction of the club
  9. Agreed with your sarcasm. Didnt put much thought into it. Had a long enough day at work than to have to start putting serious thought to this. The principle is if Frawley wont sign, trade him while we can
  10. Any word from anyone on Frawley. Better to trade now than lose for nothing. Surely worth a top 10 pick for sure. Oh course it depends who is interested but pick 40 + Frawley for top 10 pick + very decent player (pref a backline player to fill the void)
  11. I honestly dont know how to feel about this one. Others will know more about Dom, and I'm keen to hear what they say, but for someone with low stats (yes I know he was injured) and to give up 2 and 20 (I know we get 9) just doesn't sit right with me. Time will tell and Im not writing the kid off, just not sitting well with me atm
  12. So what picks do the MFC now hold given Vic, Bernie and Tyson are recruited?
  13. This has all been discussed before. The MFC cant draft/develop for sh**. Time to look forward not into the past. We can review as much as we like, its not going to change anything. What the club needs to do now is put serious (and I mean serious) work into the recruitment and development areas of the club (at both VFL and AFL). Whatever financial cost it requires to have this done correctly. I have said it before, if we incorrectly draft or not develop players, we have no chance of being competitive and therefor the club will again follow the path to its demise. Learn from the past, look to the future!
  14. If Frawley is not going to make a decision on his future with the MFC what about a trade involving this. Pick 2 + Frawley for Shiel + Treloar + Pick 9? Or GWS 2nd Round pick if 9 is overkill for them...which it perhaps is. Allows Myers to be recruited as a defender
  15. Oh no. Dear god no. Were not talking about the preseason....all I remember last year is comments from Neeld saying how well our preseason is going, how well it went during our heavy losses. I hate preseason and wish I could avoid all the discussions on it. There are 17 other teams who will have a great preseason. Personally, I couldn't give a s***
  16. Great news. Welcome aboard VIVIAN
  17. With the recent appointment of Viv Michie to the MFC, Supporters should rest easy that the club is making the right decisions without the media attention. It has been suggested by posters on demonland that the club is not reacting to the trade period however this just shows that the club is working behind closed doors and the reduced media attention may in fact assist the club is signing significant names at a bargain price. I'm happy with two or three more appointments via trade/FA established players and the remainder via the national draft. Pick 2 + Pick 19 + Blease = Shiel + Treloar Pick 21 (or Sylvia Compo pick, wherever that is) = Vince Pick 36 = Jarman Impey Pick 54 = Viv Michie Pick 72 = Clizby upgrade FA = Cross Would love to see Jamar gone and Jolly in so a trade on Jamar + Tapscott for having the ability to get Jolly would be great.
  18. Dream scenario: pick 2 = L. Shuey + pick 44 Pick 19 + M.Jamar = D. Shiel Pick 20 (Sylvia Compo) = TAC Cup Inside Midfielder (ie Dunstan/Sheed/M.Jones) Pick 37 = S.Savage Pick 44 = TAC Inside midfielder Pick 58 = State Leigue VFL/SANFL small forward Pick 76 = D. Cross Rookie 1: N.Duigan Rookie 2: Best availible Midfield of = Shuey, Shiel, Pick 20 TAC Midfielder, Savage, Cross, Duigan and pick 44. Not bad if I say so myself
  19. I would like to have your confidance but for years, we supporters have over exadurated the talent on the list. With a forward line of Howe, Clark, Hogan, Dawes I think we are fairly comfortable. I cant say the same for our backline. Frawley and Garland are A grade players however I'm still not 100% convinced on McDonald and Terlich to hold their position. Our midfield and backline need some serious attention and I cant see a quick fix to this. Only time will tell I guess
  20. Granted. Peter Jackson admitted the MFC had put little funds into player development and recruitment. I was in a heavy discussion with a Geelong mate. We both agreed that the recruitment and development departments in AFL football are almost the most important area of a club to invest in. Paul Roos knows what he is doing. Assuming, worst case scenario, and he isn't able to improve our position on the ladder, he will at least provide some foundations for development and recruitment. He has come from the Swans, with their own academy, and knows how important this is to any team. Every melbourne supporter is tired of waiting. As supporters we have been incredibly pacient. We will need to continue waiting patiently. It wont be a quick fix but if this club can sign 4-5 established players over the coming 2 years as well as clever decisions made with recruitment and development, we may start to rise on the ladder (this will be ever so slowly though). 5 years in my opinion, just to break into the 8. A further 8-10 years to be a real contest for a GF. Set the foundations of this club first. However long, whatever financial cost, this club needs to strip every department back and start from scratch. Patching up on a rotten foundation will guarantee failure. Follow Hawthorn, Geelong and Sydneys road and start with the foundation and the rest will follow (with hard work).
  21. Not sure why everyone is so worked up on the loss of Colin. He is 27 years old, a sub standard AFL player who should have never been selected with such a high potential, highly scrutinize pick. The MFC will benefit substantially with his leaving. Assuming the club is granted a 2nd round or even 3rd round compo pick, we can use this pick on either a young upcoming player from the VFL or select a mature AFL player. Colin is of no loss. Perhaps he may show more light playing in a team with high profile players. I dont expect to see miracles from this guy and suspect he will struggle to make the best 22 on a regular basis. The MFC have offered everything to Colin. His immature, party boy attitude is no longer required in this team. Wish Colin luck (as he will need it) and move on. Decision done, now its up to the recruitment staff to select the best player with that pick. Again, at 27, he wont be around the MFC when we are consistently competitive as it will take at least 5 years for this club to see ourselves in the top 8 of the AFL.
  22. Sylvia is of no loss to the MFC. I would love to be writing this, thanking Sylvia for his contribution to the MFC. Unfortunately all I can say is don't let the door hit you on the way out. A selfish, pathetic player who would have been delisted years ago had he played for any team but the MFC. Glad to see this decision made and now the MFC can begin to move forward without sub standard, high potential, overexadurated player like Sylvia. Ouch!
  23. And your prepared to part with pick 2 (which is what it would cost us) for yet another risk (and Trengove wont be anywhere close to the 'better players'). He has averaged 18 disposals a game. Hardly exciting
  24. I seriously dont want Swallow. He is very overrated. Has anyone actually looked at his career stats, nothing too exciting
  25. Was hoping for some better names for trade options. Those 4 aren't worth a grain of salt.
