Scott Thompson was homesick, and requested trade back to Crows. After we groomed and nurtured him through injury and about to make his mark. Played 49 games with MFC in 4yrs and then 269 games with the Crows. It will be interesting to watch Petty's body language for the rest of the year. Will we see another Luke Jackson and not go at the contest fearing injury like he played in 2022. Petty will do the same and not want to jeopardise his prospects for a trade.
I was dubious about Petty's desire to return to SA until I read an interview with his sister Hannah who is captain of the Adelaide Thunderbirds. Hannah mentioned that the family was very tight.
She said that Harrison was keen to return to SA. I do think the MFC will trade him at the end of this season whilst there a chance of getting something of value.
IMO the best chance of him staying is if we make it to the GF (and Crows finish down the ladder).

You can trade picks all the way up to and on draft night though? 6,11,12,15 and a future first, there’s no doubt we could’ve made some big plays with that, had a month to prepare it, probably would’ve made the eagles have a good hard think about trading pick 1
I’ll say it again, there’s no way known we were going to get picks 11 and 15 for Petty. He’s played 5 and a bit years, averaging 12 games per year and 8.5 disposals per game.

On the last day of trade Adelaide offered two first rounders, 11 and 15
Not sure where you got that info from.
Adelaide did have picks 11 and 15 at one stage but traded them (and a future 2nd round) to GWS for picks 8 and 17.The only report I saw that mentioned picks was from SA reporter Theo Doropoulos who said pick 14 and McAdam had been offered by the Crows.
IMO Petty will leave at the end of this year and we'll be lucky to get a late first round pick.
Petty's never going to be a KPP - forward or back.

Something not right (IMO) about the way Libra just collapsed. Stringer hit him pretty hard.

apparently he trained today?
I’m not sure. Nathan told yesterday. Maybe a ‘farewell’ session. Craig Kelly phoned Nathan immediately and offered him a position at the club. Nathan also in line for a large payout (from the Players’ fund?).
I assume Gus also in line for a similar payment, albeit small consolation.

Further to my post re Nathan Murphy’s forced retirement, Shaun told me in January that Nathan’s contract had been extended by three years.
It means we may have the Pies in our corner when it comes to negotiating with the AFL re ‘compensation’ as regards the salary cap.- 2

Shaun Murphy (father of Nathan) just told me that the AFL have retired Nathan.

I think there’s a typo there. BBB out. Hore in. Agree. BBB cooked.

• hand troubling him
Definitely an issue. Many would have seen him grimace (at a training session?) when a fan went to shake his injured hand.
I'd like to know the exact problem. A broken bone? Does the club expect it to heal over the bye?

May and Woey in for Hore and Chin. Marty will get his opportunities. Not sure Bill will, especially when/if McAdam gets fit.

What's Gerald Healy's problem? Did we push him out or something?

Had a holiday house near me for some years. I fronted him at my local many years ago about his ‘grudge’. Definitely no love for the Dees.
BTW Crackers Keenan similarly no love for us.- 2

I feel sorry for the people that used to enjoy a drink late in the game standing by the window watching the game.
Assume the media area is to replace the media area that used to be outdoors on level 4 above.
Is it exclusively for Foxtel media? Another club premium member phoned in filthy with the arrangement saying he paid top dollar and sounded as though he wanted to view much of the game from behind glass..
I passed through the bar yesterday but have tended to use the Lindsay Hassett or Jack Ryder bars that I assume still have a view of the ground albeit mainly for early arrivals (who grab a seat).

What is it with the screen size at the ground effectively reduced by 25% with ads a la Marvel. Even 25% of the large screen with ‘SYDNEY SYDNEY SYDNEY down one side.

I’ve got a suggestion Jack.
Both ‘186’ and ‘GF 2000’ be added to banned list.

In Sydney with 30 close mates from the Surfcoast. Unlike them I’m in the cheap seats - behind the Demon Army. Last time I sat with the cheer squad ‘Froggy’ Crompton kicked the winning goal. I’ve got a feeling Blake Howes could replicate the feat tonight.

I think our wings are areas where we can get significant improvement from last years team. I personally think we have a few players who could improve us there with Rivers being one.
Agree. Langers not up to his usual best last season and I’m not convinced that Hunter has the foot skills to improve on his forward 50 deliveries. Rivers and Windsor will put pressure on the former two.

Either made up story or Adelaide just leak this stuff to put pressure on Melbourne ahead of contract negotiations, still seeking retribution for the loss of Lever.
Lever and McAdam, even though the latter had fallen out of favour with selectors.

As mentioned, another mid (Sparrow) or forward (Petty) are the last type of player they need. It’s their defence and ruck stock that needs replenishing if they are to move up the ladder.
Methinks it’s a case of Ralphy making up a story that has little or no basis. -

Stuff all besides the cap space it'll open up
I’m not sure about that. If a player is contracted and retires as far as I’m aware his salary is still part of the TPP. Possibly the reason both TMac and BBB are going around again.

I would have Tomlinson in for TMac, he’s coming off a calf niggle and a lot of people have listed him as cooked? I would also give Windsor another run and Verrall needs to be in the starting 22 to support Max.😁
Agree re Tomlinson and Windsor for Langers. Just reckon the latter needs a wake up call. Not sure who Verrall replaces. Maybe goes in as sub.

Well I agree. A 10 zip start to 2022 and crumbled. Not much better last year. All teams have injuries. Pies had Daicos missing for some weeks.
A true forwards coach would be handy addition. I’m hoping McQualter can get a better ‘connection’ between Max and our on-ballers. (no offence Ooze).- 2

Harrison Petty
in Melbourne Demons

My mistake. Petty played primarily in the backline following the ANZAC game last year.
