  1. He didn't kick 100 when he was at Melbourne and not saying he wasn't a champion local footballer but to suggest he was better than Adem is laughable (Adem kicked 21 goals in school shoes as a 15yo in a schoolboys game and had he played suburban and country footy in his prime would have ran absolutely rampant and probably kicked tons from midfield.

  3. Competitive beast with a strut of arrogance. From a physical perspective he's a pretty well built lad with thick set of thighs. He's certainly ready ready to match it with the senior bodies but I genuinely think having a year off next year and going through the same induction as what Petracca did back in 2015 will set him up well for a good AFL career.

  4. I reckon North have also improved and built a lot of form since we played them as well... Have my tickets, and hope lots of Dees fans go along. Not our home ground, but let's make it one!

  5. I feel like after the first 8 rounds teams went down the opposite wing to Ed more often, and played a more defensive mindset in their positioning around him. I think Hunter is going to make a huge difference to us in this regard. No offence to JJ but Hunter is a much more experienced wingman and can do more damage with the ball in hand. We can now attack and defend down either wing, where I felt Jordon was often too slow and defensive as an outlet. I think Ed will be very happy to have a more well rounded outside player on the opposite wing to him.

  6. Ed Langdon, if not already is fast becoming one of our all time favourite running machines, Ed regularly clocks up 100% game time even when carrying niggles. He is highly skilled and as tough as they come but wouldn’t recommend that he give anymore pre match speeches before big games, I would also like to see Ed get a bit more protection. I am really looking forward to seeing how Ed and Lauchie control their respective wings in 2023 and how we exploit the advantage that they will afford the team, he is a quirky, loveable individual and he is ours.❤️💙🤘💕.

  7. An outstanding wingman who provides non stop run and carry, linking with his teammates up and down the ground and is a great decision-maker. Has great stamina but his effectiveness was blunted by a rib injury in midseason. "The former Docker has become a critical piece of the Melbourne midfield with his hard-running on a wing since arriving at the club three years ago. Langdon averaged more than 21 disposals a game, but had five matches over 25 disposals in the first eight rounds and only one after that. Attracted some unwanted attention when he labelled Collingwood a “one-trick pony” ahead of their round 21 clash at the MCG, which the Magpies went on to win." - Herald Sun Date of Birth: 1 February 1996 Height: 182cm Weight: 77kg Games MFC 2022: 23 Career Total: 132 Goals MFC 2022: 13 Career Total: 61 Tenth Club Best & Fairest: 367 votes Brownlow Medal: 7 votes

  8. Ed Langdon changed our game plan. His constant up and down running to support the midfield as well as his preparedness to back the back line and then run forward and present as a target in the forward line sets him apart from any other player. Pity he can only play one side. So we have recruited Hunter in the hope that he will emulate Ed's play on the other side. One Ed Langdon is great, two would be out of this world. GO DEES

  11. I'm sure grass root netball associations would love that 15mil for Infrastructure as well. A lot more people play and follow Netball in Vic than follow the mfc. The bottom line on the facility upgrade it has to have or appear to have more community benefit than just a facility for mfc. If we haven't done so already we need to be adding in Reach Foundation into the facility, teenage mental health and support needs to receive the funding and facilities it needs.

  12. Ed’s smile though. After our match in Adelaide I was with a bunch of Dees fans (local gals) at a pub and I turned on my phone and they saw my lock-screen. And my home screen. And my Safari background… So then everyone starts pulling out their phones and showing their pics: this is my daughter, these are my kids, this is my grandson etc. The lady next to me also had Demons wallpaper on hers and says to me, “lol you can tell by our phones who’s got kids and who hasn’t.” I’m like, “I know right!”

  15. Any time, anywhere. We have been a far better side than Adelaide this year, and should win reasonably comfortably if we take our chances. Poor goalkicking is the number one threat to us winning a premiership this year, but playing away from Casey Fields show help our efficiency.

  16. I still reckon that play-on from the mark was not an option, neither was 'thinking quicker'. Due to the way our forwards play, there is not a great deal of leading or anticipating driving/receiving efforts coming into our forward line - and thus providing targets (other than those readied yet ignored from Spargo). A little like ANB, some plays had to be seen across seconds and so a delay was imposed to get the full picture of options. This is one of cruelling features of the fwd-pocket assault. It has to go, and Jordan (and ANB most likely, as well) have both been developing instincts for the strike zones that will improve and be more rapid when the options are created up-field. We now have two recruits in addition to our stocks of stone pillars who could assist in this regard as a generator of creating opportunities, enhancing our forward delivery speeds and creating sensible shots from marks taken just outside or within the hot zone of 50m, not having to find a single forward/resting ruck to take the 'pack' mark without fail. Jordan will have benefitted from this onfield analysis within his games so far. We all know that he kept possession, was forced to take some time and must have been very frustrated that the 'team' failed to initiate innovation for the hard work.

  18. Well the netball girls today got a $15 million sponsorship from the Victorian government. And still nothing for the MFC. What gives here? There is no votes in money for the MFC is the club praying for a change of government?

  19. Ed was outstanding in the first couple of months, then was below his best after the hit against North. This probably also coincided with him receiving more attention from defensive opponents. I'd like to see him run the edge of the centre square more, like Isaac Smith does, rather than playing along the boundary. If nothing else, it would reduce his tally of OOFs.

  24. "I don't think he will be an embarrassment in our midfield" - WTF the guy is a two time AA. What has Jacko shown? Except for the H&W game against Brisbane his year was very ordinary. He might turn out alright but at the moment a fit BG would take him to the cleaners.

  29. I don't know if he is a flight risk but from my understanding his form has been quite inconsistent all year across WAFL and the under 18 champs. He definitely has some great AFL traits with his explosiveness which he showcased in his great games at both levels but maybe there's questions on his application leading to poor games would be my guess.

  31. I’m not sure how people here are assessing Munkara. Is it the highlights reel or have people taken the trouble to watch him play in a full game? I had to refresh my memory so I went back in time to April/May, both before and after that Australian Academy game v Collingwood VFL. At the time, the pundits rated his game highly but not top of the top shelf but were impressed enough back then to rate him in the top ten in their rankings. We should accept the reasons he’s given for being off the scene for a couple of months and he’s certainly been forgotten by many during that time but there’s no way this bloke is going to be on a rookie list next year.

  34. My best 22 here will all current listed players so you can see who is in or out. I'm really not sure if they plan on starting both Gawn and Grundy on the field - they might but I would start one in the bench then bring on the other to create a mismatch. I also can't see us playing TMac, JVR and Brown with Gawn and Grundie in the team, so I've left Brown out to start. Harmes is stiff, but he just doesn't have a position unless he is replacing Sparrow or Jordan (very possible). Spargo gets the nod over him as the only forward on the bench (especially with extra tall forwards, the flexibility is needed). If there is a 5th on the bench I'm unsure if we'll go an extra tall (Brown) or a runner like Harmes. We've got decent cover in most positions, but like most sides, 4-5 injuries will really test the quality of that depth. B: Michael Hibberd, Steven May, Harrison Petty HB: Angus Brayshaw, Jake Lever, Christian Salem C: Lachie Hunter, Clayton Oliver, Ed Langdon HF: Tom Sparrow, Tom McDonald, Alex Neal-Bullen F: Bayley Fritsch, Jacob Van Rooyen, Kysaiah Pickett Foll: Max Gawn, Christian Petracca, Jack Viney I/C: Jake Bowey, James Jordan, Charlie Spargo, Brodie Grundy Emergency from: Ben Brown, Kade Chandler, James Harmes, Trent Rivers, Jake Melksham, Daniel Turner, Joel Smith, Development (potential games): Bailey Laurie, Blake Howes, Taj Wowoedin, draftees, Development Rookies: Kyah Farris-White, Andy Moniz Wakefield, Judd McVee, Deakyn Smith Likely Backup Only: Josh Schache, Luke Dunstan, Adam Tomlinson

  36. Yep, with you on that. Thought #GiveEmHell could have hung around longer and is a bit more inspiring. #DemonSpirit just feels a bit not connected to anything - Doesn't reference our song, doesn't have any kind of real 'Demon' connection, just a bit nothing. Wouldn't care so much if it was just a hashtag, but it's the whole marketing motto, and in the era of the 'disruptors' (god, I hate corporate speak) it's wishy washy.

  39. Probably the best highlights package I’ve seen from this draft crop. His agility and ability to create space and time for himself is very good. He’s got a good burst of pace and plays aggressively. Looks competent inside and outside, could start as a half forward flanker who hits the scoreboard and provides defensive pressure or link up. If he’s available at 13, he’d be a great get IMO. Only downside to drafting him is he’s from WA, so no idea if he’ll be a flight risk!

  45. Adem Yze was exceptionally skilled. Smart skillful players rarely get into 'nasty' situations simply because they have an advanced level of awareness. Ooze always went when it was his turn - no problem what so ever. Could never question his competitiveness when the ball was there to be won. In fact his skill level ensured he won it way more than not. He was an absolute gun of a player. Robbie Flower was another exceptionally skilled player with a superior level of awareness.

  46. Give him time to grow into his body and develop in the 2’s. Just look at Taj, he didn’t leap out as a contested beast in his draft year either, but he is developing very nicely at Casey and will be a player before too long imo.
