  1. You are all mad - Harmes is versatile, is one of the best taggers Ive seen, does wonders for our rotations because he never gets tired. When the chips are down Harmes is often one of the few still trying his gut out.

  2. It's a no from me on Thomas. He hits targets. Will take years to teach him to kick it over the head of BBB.

  3. I don't agree. He'd made the AA squad of 40 in his third and final year at the Crows and they considered him a future captain.

  4. Brayshaw > Harmes + Hunt Brayshaw is a proven A grader in not one but three field positions. Harmes is barely a proven A grader in one.

  5. All the people sooking we aren't linked to 700 players like Essendon are every year need to get a grip. Our club does things quietly and diligently. I have no doubt there are other players we are looking at but not telling the media about.

  6. None of your business where I get my information from. Just because you don’t like what you read, doesn’t make it untrue. So jog on buddy because you are the only person who has no idea.

  7. How bloody impressive is Tim Lamb? Seems like someone who doesn't suffer fools, but is fair and reasonable too.
    13 points
  8. You do realise this was mostly all Tim Lamb work considering he was/is still our national recruiting manager who facilitated these deals during this period. Josh Mahoney was just a spokesperson in the media and general footy manager in the same role as what Alan Richardson. All credit needs to go to Tim Lamb and Jason Taylor for building our premiership team.

  9. Reports that Tarryn Thomas could be keen on a change of scenery. His skillset would compliment our midfield group perfectly

  10. The old 'but he's the heart and soul' comment has zero merit when it comes to making ruthless list changes especially when we're in our premiership window. Supporters dead set need to take off the red and blue romance glasses and look at from an on field perspective. We're here to win games and flags. Do whatever it takes to get there. Had we purely kept blokes on our list because they were the heart and soul then guys like Jack Watts ans Brent Moloney would have finished their career at the Dees. If shipping Harmes off brings us better quality from a playing perspective then it's a win already.

  11. No no no no no. Absolutely no. Chompers is red and blue to his bones and belongs with us. And to %#@*ing Essendon!! No no no no no.

  12. I'd say the club is driving the move.

  14. Still seems like yesterday, Great player but even more so Great Mate! would have been 67 today! And as Neil Diamond would sing ..... "Done too Soon" For those that haven't seen it! here is my eulogy of years ago! Rob loved days like today. He probably would have thought it a tad hot for footy, but would have played and dominated, anyway. His greatest pastime on days like to day would be cooking a BBQ for family and friends, playing golf, or on his boat catching a few "Flatties" and maybe the odd "Schnapper" in Port Phillip bay, or just shooting the breeze on his sundeck at Sorrento. Rob was at his happiest when you were happy, it seemed as if by some magical formula he had the "knack" of making you feel as if you were the most important person at that moment he was speaking to you. He loved his family and he loved and valued his friends! Charismatic people have this gift. Some use it for gain, and power, Rob used his charisma because he was genuinely interested in you and your family. Yes Rob was a "Superstar" footballer Bernie Quinlan so rightly said yesterday. But Above and Beyond he was a "Mega Superstar" person! Is this not a better, more substantially satisfying legacy to leave? In private life he was a generous with his time and expertise, as he appeared in public life. I have seen and been lucky enough to witness the way he gently and compassionately met people who at the conclusion of an interaction walked away much happier for the experience. Floating on air is as real as an experienceI have seen and been a part of, and just as euphoric! Just ask any who met him and knew him. I count myself extremely lucky and enriched by knowing him as a friend and mentor! The Euphoria stayed with you and lingered on and on. Over the 35 odd years I have known the man, I have been extremely fortunate to have been welcomed into part of the fabric of his life. He had many "Brothers" in arms and his own two brothers, Tom and Jim must have thought that they had won tattslotto every day of their lives having him as a brother. I can tell you he felt the same way about them! A more gentle, humble, empathic, generous, self effacing, humorous, genuine person you could not find than Rob Flower. I was at his funeral yesterday, and I will be at his public funeral tomorrow. Each time I look up at the sky on a clear night I will seek out the brightest star. If all stars represent great people, then Rob's star will surely be the brightest! With more people like Rob Flower in the world, it would be a more sensational place to be! Vale Rob Flower, a shining light in my life, never forgotten, always remembered "No Regrets" Thanks mate

  15. Getting beaten in straight sets on the MCG during September, always meant that changes were necessary. It hurts to see favourite players go, but The Club has to be hard on itself right now, to improve. I am now more interested in who comes into the 22 for next year

  16. Langdon was playing great footy at Freo and just hitting his prime. There’s a myth the demons created him. Much different to trying to turn back the years on Hunter

  17. Tarryn Thomas ✅ His back half of 2021 was elite once he was moved into the midfield. As classy as they come. Really fell away in 2022 form-wise and was also dealing with some personal issues. Hope we’re having discussions with his management as I think with a fresh start he would be a great fit for the Dees.

  18. I'm glad they're moving fringe players on. Keep turning the list over.

  19. Rubbish. Dees, Tigers, Bulldogs all with drought breaking flags in the last few years. Freo, Adelaide, GWS all in Grand Finals. The evidence says you're completely wrong.

  20. For me James Harmes is a first 18 player, he’s not a bottom six player he’s tough hard and can fill a number of roles, he is a good mark and kicks pretty straight. He is fast enough to quell opposition’s top mids, there are no guarantees on anyone we bring in. For mine he is a Keeper. No If’s But’s or Maybes.!!!

  21. Nothing. We got found out in the back half of the year and we're trying to find another edge to make our list better. I'm sure this is club driven. I like this one. I'll help @Mach5 pack his bags.

  23. Thanks for the thrills Hunty, all the best over there.

  24. So GWS lose another quality player and possibly Hopper as well. Between that and what’s going on at North I’m not sure how anyone can think 19 teams is sustainable in this competition.

  25. Freo have a few irons in the fire with Nth with Logue, so I’m thinking the JHF trade will unlock the top 10 pick we are after and allow Freo to swap 1st rd picks with Nth

  26. Jordon was coming 4th in the best and fairest after Rd 16 and was probably heading for a top 6 finish if injury didn't strike him down. Sure, he's not a line breaking natural winger but he cracks in, defends brilliantly, hits targets and plays team first footy. And he's only 21. Thought he had a fine season.

  27. Hunter is a very smart hard running link player. Yes, he's not quick. But he's adequate. Yes, he doesn't kick it far, but he's accurate and plays within his limitations. Some seem to focus more on a player's weaknesses while completely disregarding their strengths. Hunter is a quality wingman. It will be harder for the opposition to shut down one wing if Hunter is on the other. Langdon would love another specialist wingman in the side who knows what they're doing. It's a smart move by the club to at least explore the opportunity.

  28. He's a fringe player who from memory is on pretty good coin. If his departure allows us to improve the list then I'm all for it. The club will have a plan. We'll never forget ''that kick'', but Harmes is expendable.

  29. I get that most of Harmes' strengths we have plenty off, and he's coverable in many aspects But the tagging element I feel is somewhat a competitive advantage for him, has been very useful against strong mids

  30. Harmes wants to play midfield and doesn’t like playing elsewhere. Similar to Brayshaw EXCEPT that Angus can play anywhere and excel whereas James just doesn’t excel anywhere other than in the middle. I have also heard he does not cope well when not in the middle either. that isn’t a condemnation of a solid Demon and someone who will always have a place in shared memory of our drought breaking flag. If this does happen, this is how you get younger players through the team which was a large criticism from some. I won’t like to see him go but if the deal is right - this is what good teams do.

  31. Jayden Hunt is a great lad. Never shirked. Had a great 2021 and was very unfortunate to get injured a month out from finals. Deserved a premiership medallion (I don't like the convention that only those who play on the day get a medallion. He was a major contributor across the season and deserved a medal imv) I hate the Eagles but I wish you well Jayden. All the best

  32. My take from the Tim Lamb interview is that we’re going to get Grundy to fill the void left by Jackson, and otherwise we’ll be backing in the same squad for premiership glory next year. He basically ruled Corbett out and we haven’t been linked with anyone else. I know there’s always the discussion around us “not leaking” and having hidden targets but I can’t remember any of our trades not being known by the media in the past several years apart from Pat McKenna which came from nowhere. I find it a little frustrating (surely Gunston for free would have helped us) but these guys did an incredible job assembling a premiership list so will have to back their judgment.

  35. Hunt and Frost were two of your fav players?? Whats your favourite stat? Clangers? Watching the footy must have been an act masochism for you. You would have loved the Neeld Era; we couldn’t hit a target… And so forth…

  36. I'd be chatting to the Lions Bundling a few picks in the second round for their pick 15 to help with points. i also think the Dockers will end up trading Lobb to the Dogs for a deal involving pick 11 for Lobb and something, then 11 and 13 to us for Jackson I'd be then bundling pick 11, 13 and our future first to the Eagles for pick 2 who are keen on teens picks to access W.A players and pick 20 coming back to us as well and forwarded on to the Pies for Grundy. So essentially Out: Jackson, 2023 first round In: Picks 2, 15, Brodie Grundy

  38. I totally agree, Layz. It’s always going to be about the club. And rightly so. I’m (almost) always v sad when a player leaves. I regard our players as like sons and I liken their departure from the club to them leaving home. Ordinarily it’s like when my (real) son left home and now lives in Footscray. But with Jayden it’s like when my other son - also real :) - left home and now lives in Warsaw. And no matter how many times this happens… 💔 It never gets any easier.

  39. As long as we dont stand still for another year. We Won a flag and added Luke Dunstan. We need to keep getting better players in. But i hope and think you are probably right about the club not leaking which is a very good sign.

  40. Why on earth do people keep referring to Henry as a key forward?!? Doing my head in He's a lively 187cm fwd/swingman with spring and goalsense - no more a key forward than Fritsch and really a prime build/skillset for a good modern mid

  41. Perfect target for us. He's a smooth mover with good skills, would fill half forward flank or outside mid role nicely. He's young still too so would fit with our list. With a fresh environment and good preseason, he could be a real weapon next year onwards. Go knocking Dees!

  42. 11.30AM — DEES SHUT DOWN PICKETT-POWER WHISPERS Melbourne list boss Tim Lamb has emphatically refuted suggestions premiership forward Kysaiah Pickett won’t be at the club next year. Despite reports suggesting the Power could make a play for Pickett, Lamb told reporters: “Any talk about Kozzie leaving is absolutely ludicrous. We love Kozzie, Kozzie loves us, there’s been no discussion about that (trade).” Trades LIVE: Pies ‘fair way down the track’ on Grundy deal; Freo’s tough stance as frenzy begins

  43. The time period for complaining about limited right of reply or how Jackson approached them is over now and I don't expect to hear about it again. The fact is that the story is out now and needs to be dealt with, any talk in media questioning the journalistic process is irrelavant and deflecting from the real issue at hand.

  44. I can think of at least ten players I'd move on before Hunt, including both Smiths, McVee, and Hibberd in similar roles. Disappointing decision by the club not to look after him.

  45. SEN said this morning that Freo are offering Pick 13 and F1, but want a second round in return. They can get farrked

  46. Why are these two deals linked? We are not going to give Collingwood a top 10 pick for Grundy, which is what we are asking for Jackson. I reckon the two deals are separate.
    6 points
  47. We hold the strong hand with Jackson Either Freo or the Eagles need to come up with the goods or it ends in a stalemate We have to be prepared to let him go through to the pre-season draft knowing that is an unlikely outcome. Accepting unders is out of the question as you never want to sell yourself short North would gazump the clubs from the West in the pre-season draft (if it got that far) as they'd be getting LJ for nothing ... apart from paying him an agreed upon salary (organised prior to the draft) There is a chance that if a deal can't be done LJ re-signs with us and then the Grundy deal falls flat (cop that Collingwood) However, Freo or maybe the Eagles will find a way to satisfy us you'd imagine. If they want him badly enough, they'll find a way
