  1. Well folks, I've just come out of surgery or so it seems, to have the middle lobe of my right lung removed because of a growth in the collapsed lung and my diaphragm piltrated (stiched down). Don't want to bore you all with the ****ty stuff, but I must say timing of this operation was of not my doing. To my elation I was to be at the hospital at 6.30 am Friday to be prepped for a morning procedure that would likely last 4 hrs. So I'm thinking start at 9 finish at 1 gimee time to come around to watch the game. Didnt allow for the effects of the ongoing drip fed ketamine and oxycodone . So to say it appeared as a dream is an understatement. In and out of consciousness but managed to see the whole game (I think) unless I have died and gone to heaven.

  2. Brown comes from the era of “if you’re someone who cries…a cry-baby, you shouldn’t be playing football”. It wasn’t that long ago, so things are changing rapidly. Listening to the game commentary - BT, Brayshaw, and then Riewoldt, Lyon and Brown in the after-match analysis, it really iterates how rank and stupid Brown’s macho-garbage attitude is. BT no stranger to this of course. As usual, Kayo-FOXTEL-7 are waaay behind the curve. The more we/viewers/other media call it out, the better. Nick Riewoldt, one the bravest yet least aggro players ever, nailed the Lions rubbish tough-rough idiocy perfectly, making the point that it doesn’t work, and always backfires. He was really the lone voice, and you can feel his discomfort with the tough boys club mentality that Brown represents. As to Zorko, it’s inexplicable to me that this guy is the Lions captain. His angry schoolyard ‘make it hurt’ physicality (typified by the headlock on Lingers) is simply anathema to leadership. That headlock should also have been punished by the umps. I also want to praise Christian Petracca. EVERY single tussle and bit of aggro, he’s in there pulling guys away and talking them down (mostly Jack Viney!). His maturity and sense of responsibility for sportsmanship and fair play is unique. This club is extremely lucky to have him. Love the boy.

  3. And again Petty goes unheralded for a sensational performance and a great last quarter. He is a star and he’s only 22.

  6. Brown is the type that tears would signal weakness. That's what he meant and that Petty shouldn't get upset and that if he'd just brushed it off, there wouldn't be an issue. Hence, according to Brown, he played his part in this. Brown has the emotional intelligence of a mosquito and should be called out for it.

  7. Some in the media won't be happy until they can make public whatever upset Petty without having any concern that that may be more upsetting to Petty than what happened on Friday night.

  8. I just watched Goody in his presser. I really love the bloke. Not sure he gets the love he deserves to be honest. Premiership coach and is just all team…could go on to be one of the absolute greats in my opinion. We need to celebrate Goody more!!!!

  10. Since you asked. No love for him. Almost universal condemnation. Very much hope whatever the Petty incident was isn't covered up/ignored. Depending on what it was, we should be considering giving Zorko a club suspension and him missing the elimination final. And if it wasn’t being taken off him already, his captaincy ends this year. Really all around awful performance capped off with our captain acting most un-captain like. This finals campaign needs to be Zorko's final games as captain and next year his last as a player. Melbourne were fairly classy about it but pretty clear Zorko said something pretty horrible. So incredibly disappointing from anyone let alone the club captain. Its been hard to defend him over the years through all the stupid crap he does. Just wish the club had looked elsewhere for leadership At least whatever was said will take the focus off the many shortcomings of that performance. Pretty disgraceful then. If the AFL doesn't ban him multiple weeks, we should. Would help our chances of winning, without having him out their carrying on like a [censored] embarrassing his peers and fans. We’ve had some great recent captains haven’t we. Hard to pick who was the worse person - Zorko, Beams or Rockliff. We should get on the front foot and ban him internally for a week so the AFL doesn't have to get involved. Not on and it also shows we don't stand for that kind of crap. Can’t remember being more embarrassed as a Lions fan, especially after the appalling conduct by our captain. Say what you want about Fagans coaching skills. But I feel bad about him having to discuss whatever vile s**t Zorko has said Got 4 text messages from mates all along the lines of Zorko is a ******* [censored]. All I could do was respond with a thumbs up Regardless of what was said to Petty, his conduct tonight for the whole game was absolutely unforgivable. He has completely given up on his personal standards as a player and leader, no wonder we lack leadership in big games. No one even wants to fly the flag for him, it’s selfish and distracting. How his behaviour, as our skipper, has been allowed to deteriorate to this point is an indictment on our club. Said it before he is a disgrace as a captain .yet all the softies go 5 time best and fairest . He is a grub and people wonder why our team has no heart he is the chief leader of it The only bit of tolerance shown was quickly shot down: Let’s wait to see what happened before we crucify him. Zorko obviously said something he shouldn't have but can we wait until we know more about the situation before retiring the guy. Don't think based on his past behaviour we should give him the benefit of the doubt tbh. I don't think a bloke starts crying based on nothing. Fair enough My favourite: And there didn't seem to be any need for it at that stage of the game. If you want to be a tough guy go pick on Melksham By the way that was just from page 1 and 2 of bigfooty. Didn't bother with the next 8 pages.

  11. The mainstream media wouldn't be game to report what is on social media, it is so bad. Even without seeing the social media we know by our club reaction that it was really bad. We do things quietly be it complain about umpiring, accepting/fighting player suspensionsetc. Not this time. Richardson and Goodwin were very upfront, direct and unequivocal about the incident. And made a point of saying Brisbane apologised. Huge kudos to them for publicly and strongly standing up for Petty and drawing a line under abuse.

  12. I think the club and the players have behaved themselves impeccably. They went out hard at the ball all night, were not put off by Brisbanes fake toughness, hit them legally hard, ground them into the turf and smashed them on the scoreboard. Brisbane are a basket case. They can't play the MCG, they can't play finals. They can't play Melbourne. They choose low life Captains. The club then stood up for their mate Petty, Richardson went straight to the Brisbane Football Director and let him know what had happened. That is culture that is streets ahead of Brisbane and most clubs to be frank.

  15. I’m sure it’s been said on this thread already but how the F is that not a 50 metre penalty against zorko when he put Langdon in an ongoing headlock after being run down. Even without the comment to Petty, Zorko was at it all night and , as a captain, disgraced himself.

  18. Ironically, Nick Riewoldt was sitting right next to him. Brown forgot the famous time when Nick went crying to the bench after Brown's teammate Chris Scott and Mal Michael targeted Riewoldt's broken collarbone. Nick didn't say anything last night but he would have seen the parallels to his incident. Brown may have been trying to deflect blame but it was very very poor.

  21. Bad moment from Brown. He needs to apologise for victim blaming. Only saying this to make myself feel better, but i thought zorko was the biggest grub in the league BEFORE this game. He has managed to beat his own disgusting lows.

  22. Here's a more complete table. 24. The seven commentary was woeful last night. Only Daisy could hold her head high. Two many examples to recount them all, but two stood out. One was the general downplaying of the Lions form. They played high level football and brought the heat. Neale was sublime at times and some of their midfield work was exceptional. We were just levels above. The second was the pathetic misrepresentation of who was the aggressor and initiator of all the argy bargy. The lions, led by Zorko, clearly came out with a specific plan to physically go after us. It was as clear as day. Never have i felt more that i was watching a completeley differnt game than the commentators. And seriously, Hodge as a special commentator? Give me break. He adds absolutely nothing and is so wrong, so often. One second he is saying the lions have to attack and go thtough the corridor, the very next second, after we get yet another goal from a turnover, he is saying that is what happens when go through the corridor against the dees. And for Christ's sake , hodge is paid to do specials comments and he is totally clueless at round 23 that Brown has been brilliant with his bananas all season? Brown added that string to his bow in the preseason as demonstrated in the practice match against the roos. Yes i know that because i'm a dees tragic, but he is paid to know such stuff, and if not what exactly is his role? Just pathetic. And the fox trio of ex footballers were juts as bad. Brown was simply viewing the game as an upset fan and completely underrated the lions' game. Their numbers were impressive. After about 10 minutes of the first quarter we were 11 up in contested ball. By the end of the quarter it was only plus 5. And it oscillated in the 5-10 range for the rest of the match. They came out super red hot at the start of the second and third quarters. They had more inside 50s and matched us for forward half percentage - which one of our key metrics. But the most frustrating thing was the faux tough guy narrative. I get what they mean in that isn't actually being 'tough' sniping players and being way over the top with your aggression - physical and verbal. But it downplayed how out of order the lions were. It wasn't faux toughness - it was a full on pathetic assault. Ask Langdon, BB or Hunt, who got smashed multiple time as did any number of players (including maxy of course) if it was faux. i was so proud of how we channeled our energy into the footy. We won that game in the in the first 15 minutes by doing so, and did brilliantly to hold off their surges though the game.

  25. I re-iterate the commentary narrative last night that somehow the Dees were the ones starting all the rough stuff - the Bears, and Zorko in particular, we’re victims. Brayshaw (commentator) led this all night. Brown’s comments about Petty were from another time. Disgusting.

  26. I don't think that's quite what he said. I heard it as Brown saying, after footage of him crying, that petty might be embarrassed for his part. Which, even if I'm right is still pathetic. I mean what possible reason would petty have to be embarrassed? The last quarter should be viewed through the lens of that incident. The entire team was impacted by seeing petty so obviously distressed and would have white hot angry, particularly his brothers in arm down back. Impressive effort by our boys , particularly Harry to remain as focused as they did and not lose the plot and do something silly.

  29. Was at the Gabba last night and Zorko would have been in at least 10 ‘scuffles’. If he invested as much time in finding the football as he did sniping, he’d be a decent player. He’s scum

  30. We should back Petty 1000% but if he’s happy to not escalate things it would be nice if we could keep the details under wraps. Doesn’t mean we excuse Zorko, but it would show we’re focused on the job and protect Petty from whatever it was that set him off to begin with

  31. I might be unique in this opinion but I’ve got respect for mitch robinson. Has always played hard, lived on the edge and got the best out of himself. Called is bruise free when we were. Zorko has always been a crap bloke. Look at his run ins with Touk Miller. He is the worst captain in the AFL by a mile. They will never win a premiership with him as captain

  32. The problem with being too definitive about the winning margin the Swans need to overtake us is that when dividing the quotient (the answer) varies according to the size of the divisor (bottom number). The Saints' average tally over the last five matches is 70.4 points. Over the last two games against top four aspirants (cats and lions) it is 65.5. For simplicity's sake let's give them 66 points this week which would make the Swans' divisor 1608 (currently Swans' points against of 1542 + 66). If the Swans win by 60 points which is the margin Fox suggested, they romp it in. The calculation is 2105 (points for of 1979 plus the Saints' 66 and plus 60) divided by 1608 = 130.9 which is enough. But if the Saints only score 50 points and lose by 60 the calculation is 2089 divided by 1592 (still a 60 point winning margin for Sydney) and the answer is 131.2 which is even better for Sydney; And this is the really bad news, if the Swans hold the Saints to just 50 points, and win by 51 points, they overtake us with a percentage of 130.6. So Rupert Murdoch's Fox is wrong (again). The calculation is Swans pts against 1542 + 50 = 1592. Swans points for of 1979 plus Saints 50 plus 51 winning margin = 2080. Then divide 2080 by 1592 and we are third. On the other hand if the Saints score 60 points and lose by 51 we stay in second spot with our percentage of 130.4. The Swans would need a nine goal margin to overrun us. SO the key here is that the Saints score as heavily as possible. If the Swans defence holds tight they might overtake us with an eight goal win. I've never been keener on Dean Kent kicking a bag, although I hope we don't have to rely on that.

I was in the rooms after the game and Bail was clearly out of sorts. He did thank Wheatley for squaring up. Disgusting act by Robinson.
