  3. If you said anything like “our season is over” in the last month, give yourself an immediate uppercut. Many welcome returns to form, but none more pleasing for me than Jake Lever. Absolutely outstanding.

  4. Fantastic, emphatic return to form by the Dees. That could easily have been a 15 goal win against the "former... (hehe)" ladder leader. I tipped us to win by 3-4 goals so this is much more than i expected. Viney = immense Jackson = Pay him what he wants. Kids gonna be a champion. Lever = a totally different player with May in the team. Harmes = Smashed Neale... get around him. Bedford = dynamic Oliver = Brownlow Hibbo = blanketed Cameron Jordan early was also very good. Lots of others i could, and probably should praise. Fantastic win Dees. Should be an enjoyable weekend 'Landers.......

  7. He remains close with Trent, his parents are happy with his welfare at the club, he wants to repay the draft faith and the decision to give him an extended break in Perth pre-season, the offer is as flexible as he needs it to be, he wants to continue learning from Max and he generally isn't motivated by money or stardom.

  10. And don’t forget y’all… it’s the PINK LADY match! Maybe add a touch of pink to your attire tonight. Think pink is unmanly? The boys are all running around in pink socks tonight. Tell Jack Viney pink is unmanly. 🤣 Our banner looks AMAZING! And I was told yesterday that BCNA are extremely happy with it, and just as happy with the MFC for continuing to support them by hosting this match every season. 💖 GO DEES! edit: see @Lucifers Hero’s post, above. Thanks Luci 😘

  12. I’m going to write a longer post about that game when I get on the train… but if that performance didn’t make you love your footy team a little bit more than you thought was possible I feel sorry for you.

  15. Since 22-9 Lions in the first this was an annihilation, make no mistake. You could see we got our structures working late in the first quarter and we slowed them right down. Our reward came in the second and it was pretty much game over at half time. We weren’t letting this one go. Well done to every single player out there tonight. Viney was just inspirational, awesome game by the skip.

  18. Jack Viney fully fit is a scary sight The media talks about our pillar mids of Clarry and Trac, but a 100% fit Viney is arguably on the same level He has been massive for the past month, long may it continue

  23. For Thursday night game against an interstate team, that crowd was a brilliant result. We pulled in more than Richmond vs Port on Thurs night, despite nearly 50,000 less members across teams playing. Brilliant effort Dees fans. Ignore the noise about our crowds for dopey pelicans like Caro. We’re third highest average home attendance in the league. Were more loyal than anyone. Hats off!

  30. Very good operator is Richo. Interesting story about Richo. Was speaking to a past player who I've gotten to know well over the past few years. Comes up camping on the Murray over the summer period and hits thr local golf course a fair bit. We were discussing about the past players club that Rod Grinter started up which has grown really big in the past 24 months to the point where some ex players from opposition clubs have said it's the best in the AFL with how tight and big its become. I remember hearing Shane Crawford say on his podcast stating he was jealous of how good it was because he felt Hawthorn had no past players group even though with recent premiership success. Anyway, he was saying that when Josh Mahoney was involved he created a big divide within the past players and the club which all started by Mahoney removing Spike Harris? (Not sure of his actual name) unfairly and with no acknowledgement after many years of service for the Melbourne Football Club. This didn't go down well with many of the past players, current staff and even administrators. When Richo and Mark Williams came to the club the first thing they did was amend this relationship between the past players and the club and Richo was supposedly very big driver in this and making the club as whole again. He was very big on the concept of having past players still having a sense of belonging to the footy club even after they've finished up, and also making sure the current day players understand the importance of the history and contribution they've made towards this footy. It's no surprise that for the first time in a long time we're seeing past players doing jumper presentations to first gamers this year and last year also with James McDonald. Whilst Richo has been significant in this area I will also make special mentions to Mark Williams and Max Gawn also. Club is in great hands under the likes of Richo, Chocco etc..

  31. Viney's performance was one of his best in a Dees jumper, knocked himself out and went straight back into the middle, couldn't get tackled and reorganised someone's spine with that pile driver of a hit in the last. and what about James Jordon, he is owning the members side wing, not only looking comfortable but in career best form I'd argue.

  32. Exceptional football. Clearly the best we've played since the Grand Final. Should have won by 80+ points against the top side. Yes they were missing Bailey and Zorko, but it's not like Gawn and TMac are bit players either. The clear stand out IMO was the intensity. CP dominance, clearance dominance, forward half pressure, tackle pressure everywhere. We haven't played with that level of ferocity much in 2022 but when we bring it, we really [censored] bring it. Led superbly by Viney, who played one of his all time best career games. Forward half worked so much better as a unit tonight. Small things like Weideman blocking for Brown and crumbers in the right spots in front of the marking forwards. Don't know if it's a coincidence, it probably isn't, but Lever's game was phenomenal, against the highest-scoring side in the competition to boot. Petracca also lifted so our A-grade core was largely on song tonight (Langdon still has room to improve). Weidemand deserves credit. He wasn't dominant but he put his body on the line in the ruck and in marking contests and I thought really applied himself well. Let's see if this is a corner turned. Big games coming up on the road but when we play like this, we are scintillating.

  33. On the train now next to Titus O’Reilly who seems rather chuffed. Had real concerns in the first quarter but it finally clicked. The zone reformed, the tackling pressure returned, our clean up at ground level began to take shape and the link up handballs that have been missing for the past three weeks happened. Jack Viney, take a bow…you willed us back into that game yourself and the team followed. I had major concerns about the lack of contested marks we’d be able to take but it didn’t matter, it took care of itself. The flow returned. My favourite part of the night was not having to even notice May or Petty after quarter time because they just did their job, allowing the true Jake Lever to take flight. The feeling is good. Let’s hope this is the return of what we want and expect from this team. Go Dees and back in your box Brisbane.

  37. Last few weeks has seen the re-emergence of a new more virulent strain of MFCSS virus on Demonworld. Apparently it is that infectious it can be readily transmitted on-line. Symptoms include; Wild, unsubstantiated posts condemning players, coaches, former recruitment staff and ex-presidents. Outbursts of spiteful, 'ungentlemanly' behaviour between some posters. Rampant unbridled pessimism or overly optimistic optimism and increased propensity for gambling and consumption of alcohol. Will the site administrators declare a pandemic if the boys post-bye go down to the lions?

  38. Disappointed Hunt didn’t come back in. He’s been our second best lock down defender this season behind May, and the best for smalls due to pace and agility. Would’ve been handy tonight. Our current backline with Salem, Gus and Bowey for smalls is not working defensively or offensively. We’re 17th for scoring from back half, so that half back dynamic needs to change. Need Hunt or Rivers back in, Bowey out, and Gus shifted further up the ground to fix the balance and get us back to something closer to hat worked last year.

  39. On the road (bus as train not running today). Alarm didn't waken me (I'm deaf and slept on) . Neighbour woke me and sped the 45 minute trip to the station in 20 mins (absolute legend) SO like a well oiled machine we can overcome all adversity and recover poise and salvage victory from the jaws of defeat. GO DEES

  40. I have just seen the funniest thing I have seen on TV in ages. Caro on footy classified last night, complained that Eddie interrupted her. All she does on that show is interrupt the other panellists and talk over them constantly. Eddie snapped back that she interrupts all the time and she didn’t like it. I couldn’t believe what she said and she is either ignorant of the fact that she interrupts all the time, or she is just stupid and self obsessed, with hearing her own voice all the time. PS : She still hasn’t apologised to Dees fans for her incorrect slur on our booing of BOG players while they are receiving an award. She is obviously too busy interrupting to listen to what she actually says. Verbal diarrhoea at its best.

  45. I am not sure if this has previously been mentioned but this weeks game helps raise vital funds for the Breast Cancer Network of Australia. For those that cannot attend, you can purchase a virtual seat for $25. Details can be found at www. bcna.org.au or visit pinkladymatch.com.au This game is very close to my heart as my mum passed away from breast cancer in 2016. BCNA are a wonderful organisation and next year the iconic Field of Women will be back. Just a reminder that 20,741 Australians are expected to be diagnosed with breast cancer this year.

  46. I go to the Pink Lady match every year with my child. My mother died of BC over 10 years ago. Apart from being a great cause to donate towards, its an opportunity to pause and give silent thanks to the woman who raised me. Along with Anzac eve, this is our favourite game of the year (hopefully GF excluded) 💗💗💗💗💗💗

  47. As others have noted, bailey out is huge. One, he is a total gun. Two, he is the exactly the sort of forward we struggle to contain ie gun small to medium goal kickers. The lions usually really stretch us in that regard, because they have bailey and Cameron (not to mention half forwards McCarthy and this year raynor, and mids like mccluggage). With bailey out we have more options for Cameron. On that, you'd think hibbo gets first crack on Cameron.
