  1. My better half has been leaving jewellery brochures scattered around the house. Never let it be said that I can't take a hint. I'm going to buy her a nice magazine rack for Christmas.

  2. Paul Amy reporting that the Casey Demons are keen on recruiting ex-GWS Giant Matt Buntine who originally played with the Dandenong Stingrays. Meanwhile, onballer Tom McCaffrey who had limited opportunities over the past two seasons, is being linked with Werribee. Ruckman Andrew Courtney who also struggled to get game time with the club is off to the Northern Bullants.

  4. Updates for delisting of Hore and Declase and Hibberd one year contract. We have no more players OOC. A few points: I've corrected the Allowed A Rookie numbers to be: 1 - 6. Jordon has been shown as a senior all year so I left him there for the sake of consistency. He is contracted until 2023 so a late pick will be used (94 or 112) to make that official. Chandler has been assumed to be an A rookie, pending further clarification. If he is promoted to the senior list a late pick will be used to make it official (94 or 112). In summary, we have 38 senior and A rookie players giving us 4 overall list spots. Based on Jordon/Chandler assumptions herein that is 3-4 senior spots and 0 -1 A rookie spots. (Plus two 'B rookie spots). The classification of A Rookie vs Senior is a bit academic regarding list numbers and eligibility to play. The benefit is that being a rookie helps manage the sal cap as a portion (I think the first $80,000) isn't include so their is an incentive to max the rookies. As @Turnercorrectly noted if Andy Moniz-Wakefield gets thru the draft we can take him as a 'B' rookie. Some forthcoming dates may clarify our list intentions: List Lodgements, NGA and F/S nominations. Refer to this thread: . Re our draft picks: Collingwood and Bulldogs currently have 10 draft picks between our 37 and 57 and will use them for their respective F/S, and/or trade/consolidate them. This means our picks 49 and 57 will come in a long way. My current estimate is that 49 will be in the low 40's and 57 will be high 40's. I won't make it too exact as it will change with more pick trades. The next update will be after the Draft, unless their are significant changes to our draft position.

  5. Experienced Football Administrator Marcus Wagner has been appointed Melbourne Football Club’s new General Manager, Football Operations and AFLW. Wagner, who has spent the last 13 years at the Collingwood Football Club, began his career in performance analytics before progressing to head up the club’s football operations. Over his journey with Collingwood, he has been heavily involved in the development of the club’s high performance training facilities and its AFLW program. Wagner will oversee the Football Operations for the AFL, AFLW, VFL and VFLW programs, filling the role previously served by Daniel McPherson, who announced his departure early in the month having accepted a position with North Melbourne. He will commence at the club in November.

  6. I feel Jack Viney hasnt been appreciated enough. He had struggled a bit this year with injuries. Really stepped up in his last five games and while overshadowed by stellar mids in Trac and Oliver, he certainly played a big part in our success. Displayed some silky skills above his usual hard tackling and racked up a large number of possessions with much better disposal. With him playing like that more consistently gives us the best midfield ever.

  7. Dear all… now that I’ve watched all of the Demons’ finals games multiple times (11 for the GF alone), I am very proud that the boys never resorted to rough play or arrogant grand-standing. What an amazing bunch of young men we have! If only one of them could have married one of my three intelligent and beautiful daughters.

  8. Doubt he’ll be responsible for a lot of decision making early at his time at the club. Good to have someone experienced to do the day to day admin stuff whilst Richo is very involved with the coaches. Hopefully he speaks up if we start to massively front load contracts or if a couple of injured players want to raid the mobile phone lock box!

  9. We now have three of the most important positions in the club filled by ex Collingwood operatives, Jason Taylor Gary Pert and now Marcus Wagner. Are we going to get Eddy to sit on the board.

  11. Here's Salem's turn in the spotlight! Was definitely in our best 4-5 players on the day. Don't think I'll ever get tired of watching him with ball in hand. Surgeon like precision with nearly every disposal.

  12. I felt pretty despondent …. left the room realizing that I wasn’t wearing my scarf ….. put it on and ….. bang, bang, bang (and repeat) …. so you can all thank me for the turnaround. 100 points to 7 with the said scarf on ❤️💙❤️❤️💙

  13. You could probably add Richo into that mix also. Importantly the ones above were part of a relatively successful era at the pies. Obviously Pert has worked with them all and knows what he is getting - he hasn't got too much wrong since last seasons football review that saw us make key appointments in Yze, Mark Williams and others.

  14. You do realise that it’s your duty to wear said scarf every nanosecond of every single match next year, right? Oh and during every single training session in which our boys partake. (To avoid any injuries.) And it wouldn’t hurt for you to wear it while they’re on their post-season break (no drownings, rock climbing accidents etc.) Maybe just never take the bloody thing off. Cheers!

  17. 5x AA (including 2021 captain), premiership captain. Max is now one of the greatest Demos ever. I think his leadership style also helped the team gel and really buy into the team-first nature, while he is a bit of a different cat I think his approach to leadership was a big plus this year, here's to Maxy becoming a 2x premiership skipper next year 🤞

  20. It would be easy to read the news and twitter and think we have a big problem looming with Vax rates and mandates. We don't. Soon - maybe by xmas, Oz will have more than 90% of over 16s double vaxxed. We will be in the top 5 countries in the world for coverage. And mandates? The police force is probably relatively representative of the community in terms of the spectrum of views on vaccination and mandates. There are 21,399 police officers and PSO’s in Victoria. 43 are not vaccinated, and were suspended as the mandate came into force. 0.2% Houston- we don't have a problem.

  21. I just had a look out of interest and i doubt whether has been a better draft year for Melbourne than 2014 From the players drafted in 2014 we now have Petracca (2) Brayshaw (3) Lever (14) Neal-Bullen (40) and Langdon (54). Even the two Melbourne players no longer with us had serviceable careers Stretch (42) 47 games, and Oscar McDonald (53) 82 games including 1 for Carlton. There are only 37 players drafted that year still on AFL lists. Only 16 have played 100 games.

  27. Any demonlander interested in this official vicroads plate? I bought one with my initials and this one with a play on demon 21MDMN. I thought my son would be interested in this one but he isnt. Not looking at making a profit, you can have for actual cost $695. Easy to re-assign to whoever wants it. I actually like this 21MDMN better than mine but I dont expect to be able to sell my other one as easily. DM if interested. Its a brand new set of 2 official Vic plates

  29. Had an incredible year did big Maxy Gawn. He has to go down as one of the greatest Demons of all time to be a 5 time All Australian. Not only that but also one of the game's greatest Ruckmen. His Preliminary Final match against Geelong with 5 goals (kicking them from everywhere!) was one of the most dominant performances I had ever seen by a Demons player. He was a freak of nature in some of things he was doing! Now he is a Premiership Captain for the Melbourne Football Club. Hope he continues to have an amazing career with many more Premierships for the Demons and ends up playing 250+ games for the Melbourne Football Club.

  30. As I was too young to remember 1987 - this puts into context how enormous the Stynes / Buckenara incident was against the hawks. 1st finals appearance since 1964, smashing our opposition in the first two finals, arguably our greatest ever player captaining us at the twilight of his career and turning it on, having the reigning premier the hawks on toast in the preliminary.... 94, 98, 2000, 2002, 2018 etc were hard enough but that 1987 year must've been something and really hurt! I'm so glad everyone on here who remembers that year (and the pain before and after) can now have tasted the ultimate success!

  40. I just don’t understand how a health care professional who studied science and medicine can refuse to get vaccinated. You don’t deserve to look after people’s health if you don’t understand or believe in science. All of my friends who are in healthcare are literally waiting to be given the green light to get their booster shots. That’s how committed most healthcare workers are to protecting themselves and their patients. And so they should be!

  43. Yep, I'm not a fan at all of requesting to play Footscray in Round 1. I feel its not really at all humble unfurling the flag in their faces, in fact it could make the difference given how close some teams are in terms of mental application. We talk about 'respecting' our opponents, well this isn't it for mine. I don't think we should bite off more than we can chew.
