  1. Petracca was great tonight. Robbo "why didn't you tell me? When did you know?" Petracca "I've always known" Robbo "you go Gerard, I was gonna ask something but now I've forgotten what it was." Petracca "that happens often" ?

  3. I never liked the look of Demonology. When I first became interested in posting about the MFC, Demonology had that weird takeover happening (who the [censored] bothers to do a takeover of a message board?) and I also felt at the time, the content of posters here was far superior. I hadn't realised the likes of @Pollyannaand @Axis of Bobwere posters over there, because they are some of my favourites now. I do remember really liking RobbieF's posts too. I've now been here 12 years. Time flies. It's really helped me download after all our terrible losses in that time, from 186 to the Neeld years. Thanks to @Whispering_Jack, @Demonland, @Nasher and @Grapeviney for providing a space where it can happen.

  6. That was me Nasher. There’s a nice thread on here mid January where I broke the news and Mark got a lot of love that he thoroughly deserved. Im gutted he’s not here to see us playing the way we have been. He loved our club.

  8. I was more active on ‘ology than ‘land in the earlier years too, until I helped move ‘land on to the platform it’s still on today. That was in 2005. I still remember it, we went live the day before my birthday, I was home sick with a shocking cold. You’ve all been stuck with me as admin, hater of haters and defender of whipping boys ever since :) At one point when ‘ology was struggling and Tim was offline, I was working on a plan to move Demonology on to the Demonland platform, but re-skinned to look exactly like Demonology, to keep the members who liked the simplistic look and feel ‘ology had. There was a hidden forum on here that if you clicked on it, took you what for all intents and purposes was Demonology, but was just another corner of Demonland. Never got that plan off the ground though. There are still heaps of the original ‘ology crew kicking around too. Baghdad Bob, Pollyanna, Axis of Bob, RGRS, demonstone, as well as the ones who have posted on here already. The ‘takeover’ of ‘ology was done by a lunatic who had been banned from ‘land and was a serial pest. I lost track of what happened after that.

  9. That's nothing. Viney trained with the hawks before he was drafted too. Also told to cool it because the players were super worried they would get hurt The difference is Jack was 11.

  14. Brayshaw's role to the team is being the defensive wingman, which means getting back to help the defence. I think the switch up on the weekend actually hurt him, as he was playing well in his wing role. I don't think highlighting one instant where he made a bad decision is really constructive. We could do that to every player and find certain things they did wrong. It only matters what they are doing on a regular basis.

  20. The Lions Freo game is not the same. Here we have a person out and about for a few days across Eastern Sydney with what is reported as being a high viral load. Not everyone uses the Service NSW QR system, so there may be a few not traceable. None of that is paranoia, it's a statement of fact. Given the incubation period we don't know what the risk is of Sydney players or support staff potentially being caught out. This next comment is not directed at you so please don't take it like that: it's probably best we don't shoot from the hip regarding the risk around this in relation to the epidemiology. It's obvious some commenters (and this doesn't just relate to DL) view all of this as paranoia and overkill, but it's worth remembering things can get out of hand very quickly.

  21. I was a regular on Demonology from 2005 and had racked up 999 posts before Dr. Who and his brother conned Tim into handing over the keys to the site and totally ruined everything. Some posters I remember fondly are GSmith12, Hatchman and RobbieF. Where are you gentlemen?

  28. Dislike the love for Harmes. Before he got injured he was hardly setting the world on fire.. He plays one game in a non competitive VFL match and posters want him in? If anyone watched, compare the games of Sparrow vs Harmes. Sparrow's was a much more well rounded game. Harmesy just doesn't do the basics well enough atm and for that, he shouldn't be rewarded. I'd bring Sparrow in for Viney. Get Brayshaw back on a wing. Thomo and Baker come out for Petty and Sparrow. Give Brown another week to see how he goes on the G. Something to note was the delivery going inside 50 last week. It was awful for the most part which clearly didnt help Brown. I love Trac like the footballing world, but one thing he definitely needs to improve is his delivery inside 50. At his best, his execution and delivery is top shelf. But he regularly overkicks the ball going forward under little pressure. Needs to become more consistently damaging kicking the ball inside 50. Would be the comps best player if he manages that.

  29. At the moment Weideman is a player who had one scoring shot in his last four AFL games last season, and who is stuck in the VFL this season because he was injured (yet again) in the pre season. Sam and his manager might believe he is worthy of more opportunities and a big fat contract, but the reality is that he is yet to make a compelling case for either. The standard of the VFL has dropped significantly, and players are going to need to do more than kick a few goals in a dominant side against poor opposition to get promoted. There is no doubt that Sam's best football is very good, but we see it very rarely. All too often we get the lite version of him, who is not strong enough in marking contests, doesn't demand the football and won't give consistent second efforts. If we can keep Weideman on a two year contract on moderate money, that's great, but I certainly wouldn't be throwing the farm at him.

  31. brayshaw was moved out of wing last game only because none of the 3 emergencies were logical replacements for viney and one of the emergencies was a winger (baker) and so brayshaw became a mid. brayshaw has settled in well to the wing all this year and is a better winger than baker, so he goes back to wing. this week we have the whole list to chose from for a viney replacement. sparrow was bog in 2nds so is logical replacement. harmes would also be a choice but has only had 1 game back from injury

  32. I'd be surprised if other clubs weren't looking at him. As regards Collingwood, they need all their chips to pay for Daicos. They have nothing to trade with and no player we'd be interested in. They can gagf

  33. While I agree with all of the points about Robbo being half-cut, and generally difficult to watch, I'm going to play devil's advocate. I think he provides some value, in that he represents a fairly large proportion of the football watching community. While slurred and poorly-delivered, he does ask questions and make statements that wouldn't be out of place in the local pubs of the outer suburbs. In general, that kind of representation has its place and to be honest, my main critique of Robbo is that, at times, he attempts to sound intelligent. Strategically, the partnership with Gerard makes complete sense - one representative at each end of the social spectrum to soak up as broad an audience as possible. Ok, I've had my fun - you may resume normal programming...

  34. I just listened to Tracc’s interview again he is quite inspirational I love the way he mentioned so many of the kids on the list and said how he is looking forward to playing with them in the future. You just know that you can trust him on and off the field, he and Rick might be the next leadership team when Max & Jack are ready to step aside. This kid and the current crop of players has helped re-kindle my emotions towards the Mighty Demons again. Thank you Christian Petracca for helping us love the game again.

  35. Same day travel is ludicrous for a professional sports organisation. I've travelled alot through my work and nowadays wouldn't even consider travelling on the same day as an important meeting or client engagement. Both the early start and sitting in an aeroplane without fresh air is taxing on the body.

  39. The reason we went and got Brown was not because we didn't believe in Weideman. We wanted support for Sam, yes, but we went and got Brown because McDonald's form fell off a cliff and we no longer believed in Tom. Tom's turnaround in form has given us a great problem to have. I'd be keeping Tom until the end of his contract and I'd hope he'd be a one club player now, with smaller shorter contracts from here on out.

  43. My team for Saturday. B: Hunt May Lever HB: Salem Petty Hibberd C: Langdon Oliver Brayshaw HF: Pickett McDonald Melksham F: Spargo Brown Fritsch R: Gawn Petracca Jordon Int: Rivers Jackson Sparrow Neal-Bullen Medical sub: Jones Ins: Petty & Sparrow Out: Tomlinson & Baker I think we have to keep rewarding the side that has got us to 7-0, assuming they are all good to go and no one needs to be managed. Baker should only be played if replacing Brayshaw or Langdon as he is a natural winger. Sparrow is the obvious replacement for Viney's role until he is back and same for Petty with Tommo.

  45. He wasn’t bad, he just wasn’t good and there is better in form and position. His defensive running and positioning is average, his tackles rarely stick, his decision in making is a touch slow and his kicks lack impact. He is an average player who can play a role on occasion when injuries strike but I think what you see now is what you’ll get. We are no longer an average side.
