  1. Didn’t write much in this thread last night, trying to wait till the day after once all the smoke has settled on results like these. I watched the second half of the West Coast v Collingwood game last week and with margins over 40 points this year being a bit more rare I had a slight chuckle and grin on my face. “Hey, that team is getting completely scorched and it’s Collingwood! A flag favourite! Who cares at least it’s not us for a change!” Well… We didn’t even have to wait a full week, be careful what you wish for as a Melbourne fan because no matter how embarrassing another team’s performance is you can bet your bottom dollar we are happy for someone to hold our beer and go one better, putting our supporters in that oh so familiar position of not only sad to lose but beyond embarrassed, not wanting to show their faces in public and void of any hope once again. We all know teams have the mulligan performance, it happens we get it. All the best sides get it blah blah blah. This team does it WAY too often. We’ve had at least 3 of them this year and it is just a habit now. In Grade 4 my teacher told us that for creative writing that we were only allowed to write one short story that included any violence. I did it anyway, by the middle of the year I had written about 3 and she politely reminded me that we were only allowed to write one. It’s a stupid and laughable example and yes I have gone a little loopy but it’s the same thing, you get 1 horribly inept performance in this game. It should be unacceptable, it should be criticised, it should be something you never aim to do again but for some reason you just keep writing violent 4th grade quality short stories and the message doesn’t get through. For as long as I can remember Round 1 2012 straight after Jim’s passing – no ticker, Round 1 2013 against Port – No ticker, Round 1 last year – no ticker the list goes on and on and on and it seems perfectly acceptable. For the first time almost ever I would have loved to push a button to enforce the mercy rule in the 3rd quarter and end the game with the final score there, I had no faith at all that we were going to score and even though we got a couple it was still crappy viewing. I think responsibility is 70% players and 30% Goodwin last night. Weak as water efforts, Under 10 level skill errors and bad bad bad decision making. Really reverted back to the panic and don’t see open players thing. Max is now completely wasted and I firmly believe half of an oppositions preparation is going into him, studying his hitouts and where they go. How do we god damn solve this issue because it’s going to keep going. One dimensional, beat us at contested ball and win. No plan B, no ‘if X is happening we’ll do Y’ X was Port making us kick to the left hand side every time and Y seemed to be let’s keep kicking it long down the left hand side. I’m too tired and unproductive at work to keep this going right now, big thanks to anyone who read this. Just needed to get it out, at least the podcast is on tonight. I think everyone will be impressed hearing from Adrian he’s as die hard as they come.

  2. Earlier in the week I spoke with someone in an incidental work conversation who had been working for an AFL club coaching panel pre covid. He has subsequently been stood down. I don't really know him at all but he noticed that I'm a Demon fan from a top I was wearing in our online meet. He was trying to sell me stuff so he was obviously looking for an "in". We had a bit of footy chit chat and he asked me about my thoughts on the Demons. Then I asked his. He said Gawn is the best ruckman in the comp, and quite possibly the best player, but he plays with "peanuts". He said if Gawn went to a side like Geelong they'd be unbeatable. In his view our midfield fall into one or more of the following categories: double grabbers (fumblers); poor skills; poor decision makers. He said every one of them had at least one of those issues and some had more. He said Gawn gives his midfield first look way more than any other ruck in the competition but the midfield either fumble it, butcher it or pass it on to somebody in a worse position almost all of the time. I asked him about Petracca and he pointed out a very small sample size to go on to quantify his improvement, but that he appeared to have made himself a better player by working harder on both fitness and decision making i.e clearing the immediate area with possession distance. He said the way to beat Melbourne is basically concede the tap, understand where Gawn is dropping it and wait for the midfield to either fumble or turn it over. Down the line, add numbers to any contest with Gawn to neutralize his aerial impact and know that when the ball hits the deck the opposition is much better than 50-50 to scoot away with it. He said neither Gold Coast or Hawthorn covered Gawn properly when he dropped back and that's why we looked so good. Brisbane did and while Gawn had solid numbers, his actual game influence was nullified. He reckons every team playing Melbourne spends at least half their prep time on Gawn. I watched last night with this conversation in mind and it played out pretty much as above. Even Hinkley and Wines post match saying how much time they put into Gawn. He didn't offer any solutions, just pointed out the issues, which unfortunately seem to compound.

  3. It was obviously a horrible performance, up there with the worst we have played in the last four years. As bad as the skill level was - and it was hardly VFL level let alone AFL level - it was not that surprising given we have seen it many times before. Perhaps not to that extent (in terms of quality and the duration of the game during which it was on show), but it didn't exactly come as a huge surprise to see us miss basic 20m kicks time and time again. I actually thought we were on top (or at worst level) in terms of winning the ball at the source and getting it inside 50 in the first quarter, but our entries made some of the stuff we did forward of centre earlier in the season look like Hawthorn of 2013-2015. Repeated kicking to the boundary, or to packs, or to one-on-ones where our player would be significantly out-sized, or even straight to Power defenders. As we have seen many times before if you turn the ball over through the middle or across half forward you are out of position and Port just did as they pleased on the rebound. While that part of the game was somewhat unsurprising, what was really un-Melbourne like (in terms of our previous 4 years) was the effort after quarter time. Say what you want about our skills and inside 50 connection, but we have consistently been a high-energy team that tackles, pressures, outnumbers at the contest, works hard and surges the ball forward. After quarter time we seemed to be totally flat, devoid of any energy whatsoever. I think at one point late in the last quarter we had only had about 10 inside 50s since quarter time. Was it a 4-day break? Was it a lack of confidence? Was it going into our shells after so many kicking errors in the first quarter and Port punishing us on the rebound? I'm not sure, but we've had periods in games before where we've turned the ball over constantly but have at least responded. In all our losses this year I don't think anyone can say effort was an issue, but last night there was just this complete absence of energy and an apparent acceptance of the loss. At times you could say there were some soft individual acts which is not a trait we've seen from this team over the years. I'm happy to put this in the mulligan column, however. Most teams have a couple of shockers a season, including the very best teams. This week we've heard about WCE being a premiership favourite and only 6 weeks ago they were absolutely crushed by Gold Coast. Richmond in 2017 were embarrassed by St Kilda mid year and won the premiership. Look at Collingwood last week - 15 goals to 1 since quarter time. In an even competition it happens - the key is whether it becomes a pattern of form or can be consigned to the mulligan column. Now is not the time to panic and throw the baby out with the bathwater. We're 3-5, the season is not over. We've had a tough draw, playing and losing to WCE, Geelong, Richmond, Brisbane and Port, who all sit comfortably near the top of the ladder. Two of those losses were by a kick and we could've won both despite not being at our best. We have only played one bottom 5 team in Hawthorn. Contrast this with Essendon who have wins against the Crows, Dockers, Swans and Roos - and all by less than two goals. If we continue to play like we did against Port then there will be some big concerns, obviously. But for mine there is no evidence to say that is our level, in fact the evidence of the season so far mostly suggests we can at least compete with the better teams.

  4. Right now, this is not a united club. There are fractures within the playing group. Demonland always censor me when I try to post about them. Anyone pick up on Jones’ body language? Anyone ever seen Jones and Viney high five? Did Viney rally the troops at any stage tonight? Were Gus and Hogan two peas in a pod, cut from the same cloth? Is Tom McDonald horribly out of shape and does he crack the sads when his precious brother is on the outer? So, who is to blame? It’s the coach and Mahoney! They create the culture within a group. The Goodwin “I’m mates with everyone” approach is over. These blokes need a rocket and to sort their [censored] out and he ain’t the man to do it. Gawn is in a tough situation, because he is the big friendly giant who is a little like Goody, everyone’s mate. the Steven May interview post match was what I want to hear and I hope he gives it to a few behind closed doors. A lot of people begrudge his captaincy at GC, because he clashed with players. Yeah, because they were [censored] weak and he told them so. He drove high standards and the kids up there were more interested in the party scene on Caval Avenue. home truths need to be spoken this week.

  5. Heroes wear helmets!!! Harmes needs to be played back into form and stay there. He's the best tagger in the comp. Half back, no. Wing, no. HFF, no. Take the number 1 mid every week and let's see what happens. Hell, might even win a clearance.

  6. I know there was a lot of discussion about the Richmond game but I didn't see that as one of the "shockers" I was referring to. I reckon the media completely overplayed the performance in that game. The stats in that game were level. We were never out of the game at any point. Yes the skill level and decision-making was appalling but there was good effort, we won enough of the ball, competed hard but let ourselves down with our use of the ball. The Tigers just ran rings around the Bulldogs, a team touted as a top-four chance, without Nankervis, Caddy, Prestia, Edwards, Houli and Vlaustin who all played against us. We were far more competitive than the Dogs were against a significantly stronger Richmond side. Last night was different. It was one of those flat, lethargic, at times soft and accepting of defeat kinds of losses. That's what I'm referring to as the mulligan as we have not seen that type of performance this year. We've seen the poor skills, the lack of inside 50 efficiency, but not that.

  7. If Andrew McLeod and Tyson Edwards can play in 2 flags together, and there is no Lachie Hunter/Bailey Smith type stuff going on, then I can 't see why some players not liking every player should be an impediment to playing winning football regularly.

  8. Fundamentals a disgrace. ? Disposal - Flatfooted, also passing it to someone who is flat footed. Kicking - Across the body, poor technique, lazy. Correct me if i'm wrong but i'm sure it's called football? Fundamental #1. If i was this bad at my job i'd be sacked. What's a word worse than abysmal? Tackling - Poor technique, attack the rib cage pin the arms. Too many broken. Go and watch Storm practice. Positioning - Mids forwards forever out of position. Then call for the ball in a worse position. Movement - As above flat footed. Is there no property steward to check if there's concrete stuck to the bottom of there boots? Opposition circling packs like sharks and we stand there often with back to goal and wonder why we get caught over and over. Football smarts - Is there any? Was there any? Has it been trained/learning'd out of them. Awareness - Zero, on most fronts. Selection - 3 talls? Playing out of form players. They still have no idea what our best 22 looks like. Which means they don't really have a proper system to play? Leadership - I question this on field. Gawn/Viney yes they bust their guts but are they leaders? Can they see patterns/trends mid game and fix/foresee problems, coach on field. Coaching - Far far too easy to coach against. "Operation kick it to Max" has been found out... This is a whole other topic.. Wet footy - Train all this week with the sprinklers on. Some lads need to swap the Nivea for resin. Hunger - That was a must win game. It speaks volumes. ??????

  9. The May interview was the best effort of the night. Refreshing to see a player genuinely angry and upset after a loss compared to the boring corporate drivel that we normally get from the players.

  11. Well it's very hard for even @Pollyanna to find any positives from that debacle, although I guess Steven May contained Charlie Dixon. Our biggest strength is our greatest weakness. Max's ruck domination is too predictable. There's a difference between first possession and clearance. We're flat track bullies - against the weaker midfields we can turn first possession into the clearance but against stronger well-drilled midfields they turn our first possession into their clearance. Contested clearance is the centre-piece of our strategy and it all goes horribly wrong from there. What to do? Well it won't happen but ... I'd ruck Max less and ruck Jackson (or Preuss when Jackson needs week off) more to change up the dynamic. I'd also ask Max to mix up the set-plays when he rucks much more with some big thumps forward and make sure our forwards are first to the ball. When he's not rucking I'd vary Max either in defensive 50 or attacking 50 and let him use his marking strengths which is really his biggest winning asset. I'd also instruct him to handball from the mark to a runner going past at least some of the time, probably most of the time. I'd move Viney forward, he has been very good this year but along with Oliver he's all first possession and it's too samey with him in the midfield rotation, he'd make a great small forward and he could cameo or provide injury coverage in the middle. I'd put Brayshaw back in there with Petracca and Oliver and as others have pointed out - use Harmes as a stopper when Neale or Boak get on top - in this case Oliver and Petracca can go forward in his place.

  12. May's interview is telling IMO. He notes the following: skill errors reduce our confidence, but the errors are not a confidence thing but, rather, a concentration thing. Direct quote: "the game's too hard to just turn up and expect it to happen. You've got to focus every disposal" when our confidence falls, we go into our shells, so we stop taking the game on; we score when we take the game on, but we stopped doing that; when the ball is spending too much time in the back half, we tire our defensively, limiting our ability to attack. When that sort of thing comes from a player, it's illuminating IMO. Clearly spoke honestly. Shows that we have too many players who don't mentally focus and/or cannot perform consistently week in, week out. That leads to mistakes, that leads to us going into shells, and that leads to losses. Our coaches and players, jointly, should be past this by now.

  13. To be honest this is why talk of cliques, fractures don't overly concern me. All teams have their issues, cliques and people who don't get along etc etc. As you rightly say it is how they are dealt with and managed. Winning certainly helps with that. Look at the Australian cricket team during the Warne, Waugh era. The two most important members of that team - the talismen, could not stand each other in the last few years they played. Barely talked by all accounts. Didn't hurt too much where it counted on field. But good managers, manage. A concern i have always had with Goody - and it is a feeling, i don't have inside word or anything - is i wonder how he is with man management. Sure positive relationships are critical but the the best managers know how to harmonise a group and to have different personalities and styles reach their potential and play their part. I didn't like the Watts situation. Under roos he played his best footy, because he allowed him to be who he was. I understand i don't know what was going on behind the scenes and from many posted here (including leoncelli any number of times) there were reports about his off field behavior and impact on the group from a culture perspective. All of which might be true (and for mine, within reason, i could care less what they do off field). But whilst i respect the decision to trade him - and not wanting to pone that decision up for debate, i get the argument for that decision - i still wonder if Goody might have managed him differently to get a good outcome. The best teams, be that in work or sport - are made up off different cats. Robots don't win premierships.

  14. For the second time this year we have witnessed the opposition bench openly laughing while having a rest. I have never seen this before and this time they were all kids! At the same time our bench resembled a wake with Brayshaw's body language in particular a real concern. If anyone thinks there are not some issues ongoing within the playing group /coaching group, it's time to take the rose coloured glasses off.

  15. One thing that was extremely evident last night was all our players standing behind their opponent, especially wings and half forwards. It looked like they were just looking for the easy handball over the top but unfortunately Port won the ball at the contest and their wings and Half backs just charged forward with us 4-5 metres off them. I'm not critical of the 3 talls up forward, our ball movement was terrible you can't point the finger at these guys, our mids just got smashed. Salem is interesting, he isn't that run and carry half back , the only time we look dangerous coming off half back is when Hibbard gets the ball, Salem is almost a loose play and doesn't carry the football. Olivers game was summed up when he had 2 players Gawn and someone else alone 30m in front of him, and he decided to go wide and kicked it directly to 2 Port Players with no Melbourne player with in 5m. Hate to say it the ball for him is like a hot potato he just wants to flick it out to anyone, just get it away so he doesn't need to kick. Brayshaw/Jones: As soon as he is on a wing they loses interest, put in the middle different players. There is something going on here with these 2 and the coach it isn't healthy. The work rate was really bad. Work rate is a mind set, the game goes against us we don't increase our work rate, we get lazy and look for easy touches sitting back. Port did want every team has done against us for 12 years, just put numbers behind the ball and wait for us to turn it over then spread. Clubs know we can't kick the footy and they know we push to lock the ball in so once they get it there is a lot of space to attack.

  16. If we aren't 5-5 in two weeks goody won't have a job. If we aren't 5-5 in two weeks this forum will go into complete meltdown. If we make it to 5-5 that isn't an achievement, that is a minimum expectation looking at the draw. No one will care if we are 5-5, but they certainly will if we aren't.

  19. Focus on winning to develop that culture. But also play players to their strengths on the field not to fill holes created by other weaknesses. By moving a player from their dominant position we unbalance the team, impede their development and create doubt and reduce confidence. Some argue its good for their development but often it has the opposite effect in the long term. If there is a hole, bring in a player (new) and develop them to do that role. Also work out what players we can keep and what need to be moved on.

  20. This is the broken record we encounter every week. Every coach has studied our "game plan". Whereas our coaches appear to know nothing about the opposition. Every coach comes up with some strategy to thwart us. Our coaches are bewildered every time and have no answer. When was the last time our coaches did a number on the opposition, strategy-wise? Our coaches have had their pants pulled down so many times they might as well donate them to the Salvos. They're so used to going around bare-arsed.

Your Jesse Hogan posts were deleted because they were unsubstantiated rubbish ('he was at a party in my apartment building'), not because you had any 'inside mail' that needed censoring. You then pretended to be a lawyer when you were called out on your limited understanding of defamation and the legal risk to which you exposed the site's owners, one of whom is an actual lawyer.

  24. Well, lots said here of course. My particular take is that they just don't often stand up to intense pressure. When things are going well - 'downhill skiing' - the can look great; free-flowing football, their own intense tackling and pressure, confidence play. But Port are the top team and put on immense pressure - perceived and real, and here's the thing: our players clearly haven't embedded their skills enough, because it all comes apart and they revert to old, instinctive ways (hand-balling to someone under pressure, bombing out of the centre/into 50, over-committing too many players to the contest, no-one well-positioned at ground level etc.) Some of this is certainly lack of skill and natural awareness/footy brain, but I'm confident most of the players have enough skill to embed these habits deeper. Of course, the rest is a mental fortitude problem. Again, they sometimes show grit, but without the above skills, momentum is quickly taken away and doubt sets in, then effort lags. Although, the lack of effort I saw last night at times was hard to believe. In summary: back to fundamentals. Drill, drill, drill. Built trust in each other. Do the endless 1 percenters. Never take anything for granted. My fear is that even if they get a run on over the next few games, they'll go back to a "we're awesome" mindset again and then hit another brick wall and cop a beating.

  25. The next 2 weeks prove nothing. They need to win both games comfortably and that won't be enough to win back the trust of supporters. That can only be gained by multiple YEARS of consistent performances. Until then it's same old Melbourne

  26. Too insipid a performance to even post on demonland afterwards. I'm guessing there were hundreds of us just lurking on here reading the posts with an empty feeling in their gut and a shattered feeling in their heart, the last 12 hours. Suckered into building up hope that we could back up our last 3 weeks.

  27. What a gutless, skill-less, soulless performance by a group of supposedly professional sportspeople. This club continues its unparalleled streak of treating its supporters with contempt. This is 100% on the playing group, but Goodwin's decision to mess with both his forward line structure and his midfield combination off a four day break against the top side is number one on a very long list of bone-headed coaching decisions he has made in the past 18 months. Sparrow tried hard and was far from the worst, but had no impact at centre bounces, was flogged by Boak around the ground and kept Petracca out of the middle. Surely Harmes or Brayshaw should have been given the extra midfield time, not a third gamer. As for the forward line, what an absolute disaster. Three tall forwards and Port took uncontested marks all night in our 50. Surely one of Weideman or McDonald could have at least run through a defender at some point, rather than meekly submitting. 5 players combined for 25 tackles, the other 17 for 17 tackles between them. I'm so sick of players like Melksham prancing around like they are the sh*t when they get a cheap goal, but who refuse to go when it is their turn. Hannan and Fritsch are just as bad. Salem and Oliver had over twenty possessions each for less than 200 metres gained. Oliver's kicking is abysmal. Salem epitomises everything that is bad about this team - slow down the ball with cheap 20 metre kicks sideways, give off hospital handballs to avoid taking contact, act tough after the event. Viney is a dumb footballer. Harmes is in career worst form and Brayshaw can't get near it. Pickett is never in the right spots, has no goal sense and is undisciplined. Jackson is an athlete masquerading as a footballer - terrible draft pick. Meanwhile Port draft genuine footballers who understand the game, make good decisions and use the ball well. They won't have great highlight reels, but they'll have much better careers. You can pretty much guarantee we'll drop at least one of the Adelaide and North games now - that performance will have destroyed any confidence in the group. Another season wasted, with no prospect of adding decent talent at year end.

  30. Footy is won and lost in the midfield - and ours is currently all at sea. To emphasize how enormous of an issue this has become, here is a summation of our midfield's contribution to the scoreboard so far this season. Trac - 7 goals Viney - 3 goals Brayshaw - 2 goals Harmes - 1 goal Oliver, Langdon, Gawn, Tomlinson, Vandenberg - 0 goals From 8 games, this is a diabolical return. Least damaging midfield in the comp. How do we fix this? Who do we move on?

  31. I think it was 12 turnovers from 24 kicks. I reckon Maxy must be getting tired of oppo ruckmen jumping into him with no intent to contest the bounce/ball up. Umps should be paying free kicks where the ruck has no intent to contest. It would be paid in a marking contest.

  32. I reckon we have 2 plans. One is fully formed but one dimensional and the other is half baked and inconsistent. Plan A is contested, clearance footy as we all know. The half baked plan B is where we go long down the line to a contest with crumbers at the foot of the pack (see Richmond’s ball movement), with a wave of support runners or we look to hit up short passes from centre wing towards half forward. It is very rare that we get that last part right, i.e. short passes from centre wing towards half forward. We don't work hard enough or take the game on enough. Teams know this is an area of weakness and if they play 1v1 in a cluster, we won’t look to switch or use the ground to its full width. We were big on angles a few seasons ago, but we’ve never been good on width and we also (for mine) lose patience too quickly. Our kicking over 20-30m is also too inconsistent to play the chipping game Clarkson made so famous and successful. I do think Collingwood showed you don’t have to have brilliant kickers if you’ve got players who are prepared to work hard into space though. The problem with our brand is it is so labour-intensive in winning the ball in the first place, when we do then we don’t have the legs to work into space, with the exception of Langdon. It’s a massive problem and I think we got too cute with selection. Tomlinson’s running power is absolutely needed for the modern game and particularly our game style. I don’t think teams worked us out in the prelim, I think teams knew how to beat us prior to that game, we just managed to bring the pressure in the games we won (those finals against Geelong and Hawthorn, our pressure was excellent). But as soon as our pressure drops even 10%, we’re in trouble. If it drops off even more and we fail to lay tackles like last night, we get mauled. I think it’s too simplistic to say we have no plan B, but I reckon Plan A is too flawed and one dimensional.

  37. Pickett won't miss the games in Adelaide he is from there and his family will be able to watch him. He still is our best small forward and it will click for him. Harmes and Brayshaw are the first 2 magnets removed from the board, we just can't continue to carry these 2 on 2018 form. Rivers comes back in off Half Back and Jordan comes in. Hannan or Fritsch go out Bennell comes in Jones goes out Tomlinson comes in We need to bring in some youth with run and dare. I will be honest we are so far off it at the moment we need to see what we have on our list, we have good bones just missing some link up players and skill

  38. You trot that out whenever someone posts on internal issues at the club. It may be news to you but all organisations and families have internal issues form time to time. It is how and how quickly they are resolved that is important. So, why is it so inconceivable that mfc might have issues among players or staff? Or that mfc staff, their families or player families might be demon fans or talk to demon fans. And that they read or, heaven forbid actually post on DL. I could probably list 5-6 DL monikers that do. But I certainly will not. Posts like the above are belittling and uninformed. Sometimes I wonder if you are an mfc 'plant' trying to dilute negative posts. It is tiresome so unless you know for a fact that comments are conjecture then please refrain from discouraging posters. I can add that the DL posters that have links to internal people, some quite senior, don't comment when internal issues are raised on here. They just let it roll. Take a leaf out of their book!

  39. To me he is being coached to expand his game, and has lost a bit of confidence. When he started, yes he handballed a lot, but he was such a creative handballer in traffic. He often was compared to Greg Williams, and for good reason. I'm still convinced it will turn for him. It might be a case of a step back to take a couple of steps forward in the future.

  40. Oliver undoes his good work by his poor disposal. These two stats for 2020 are telling: Ranked 4th in Total Turnovers Ranked 2nd in Total Clangers He is great to watch, a ball magnet, clearance machine and as brave as they come. But if his i5o's bounce out again, his disposals don't reach team mates and he doesn't kick goals then I'm still of the view that his impact is limited. And, I'm beginning to think he is a poor decision maker. I think he is a victim of the 'see ball, get ball' indroctrination he has had for 5 years. He is still a kid and his flaws can be ironed out. But he needs someone to teach him to open his eyes and stay calm when he gets the ball.

  41. The Dees have definitely turned me away from football over the last 10 years and I think this could be it. Since I’ve been old enough to understand the game, this type of performance has always been lurking, often far too regularly. I can’t support this [censored] any longer, it’s not a once a season thing, it’s a once a month affair. As @Leoncelli_36 has alluded to on numerous occasions, there must be some big issues behind the scenes. Even without any knowledge of what goes on inside the club, there’s clearly been issues with T-Mac for the past 2 years. Viney has been bringing plenty of rage and aggression, but it was not doing anything to help until the last week or two. Jones has been playing for himself almost his whole career, just a little bit of effort gets him a pat on the back when everyone around him has been putrid, it has to be over. I saw the behind the scenes snippet of Goody in the rooms from last weeks game, I am beginning to think he might be trying to ramp up his directness and frustration and the players have gone to water. The supporter group can see plenty of things that need addressing, so are they being addressed honestly, or are they just being ignored - I think it’s the latter. The players don’t care if we win or lose, the club doesn’t care that the players don’t care and we continue going round in circles on this roller coaster from hell. Getting close to Brisbane seems to have been good enough. Someone needs to make a statement and it needs to be very big and very loud. I’m not sure anyone has the stones to do it right now.

  42. I live in Perth and am about to drive 1300km North to camp on a beach with the family, fish off the beach and drink beer. I have no phone service and no tv. It is unfortunate that we still have radio service but think I’ll be avoiding listening to our games. Bloody excited about the holiday and distancing myself from footy. We are a joke of club...and that is something that hurts me deeply to say

  43. Pickett needs to stop giving away free kicks at the end of his chase. The fact that this has happened about half a dozen times this season is an indictment on our coaching.

  44. You watch we will give the crows their first win next week. Only Melb would lose to a side who has lost all games this season and are on the bottom of the ladder.

  45. Tans? Surfing? It's not just Goody, I have no confidence in any of the coaches we have. At least we used to have Rawlings in our ranks. I was dumbfounded to see our last two weeks of gradual improvement completely dissolve. This was the first time I've ever found myself laughing out loud at our ineptitude. I never thought I would find this kind of performance funny but to me it was really just bizarre. Handballing to team mates standing still over and over again. Kicking directly to opponents so many times. Clarries grubbas along the ground. Might be worth a run with the Storm? Oscar watching a ball bounce 15m out directly in front and waiting for someone else to grab it. Tmac showing the agility of a prawn trawler. Watching packs of 4 or 5 port players running in waves with no-one in sight. Our forwards spilling simple marks. Those bombs into the forward line....still Continually going up in packs together with no-one staying down. Our kicking for goal. If I had to sum it up, we can sometimes play alright if we're skiing downhill. Then someone puts the blow torch on us, then we just melt like butter. It's not just skills that suffer, it seems like effort does from half of the team too. Our president said that making finals is a set kpi for us for this year. No excuses. Over to you Pres.

  46. We played like a team of Cale Mortons ... I switched off at half time and turned onto Netflix for another Vikings episode Didnt Burgess say a couple of days ago that he had these short turnarounds covered and that he had advice from Premier League colleagues about preparations re fitness ? Obviously hasn't worked , but why am I not surprised . Has there ever been a fan base that has suffered as much as us over many many years ? I think not . And I am thinking global here . We are just so cursed .
