  1. OMG then he will miss out on the joys of AFLXCREMENT! (Tommy's toe is also probably a bit sore)

  2. It always disappoints me to see people turn on a player as many here have but I suppose for someone we placed so much hope in and then disappointed us it's an understandable if regrettable reaction. I was one who supported him when he was with us but I'm pleased we traded him. But lets put this Hawthorn business to bed. If Watts had been recruited to Hawthorn he would have been in one of the best cultures the AFL has produced coached by one of the best coaches and captained by one of the best captains. He wouldn't have turned into the player he now is. He wouldn't have had the hopes of a team resting on the shoulders of a teenager. He would have been developed properly and when he came into the team he would have been surrounded by mature players and played in a winning culture playing an appropriate role with appropriate expectations. And if you want an example of Clarkson understanding players strengths and coaching to them just look at Brad Hill. Soft as butter but Clarkson used is attributes. He would have done the same with Watts. For all Watts is being criticised now he played some really good footy for us. He was loyal when he probably shouldn't have been and I'd contend his dumping by us now means he finds footy without his mates just plain boring. Footy has been pretty cruel to Watts. When Watts played his 100th game the AFL media department put on a video of his worst moments. When have they ever done that before for any other player? He has been the subject of more media attention than just about any other player in my memory. He's done some dumb things no doubt and he's soft by AFL standards but he's probably a better human being than many other players and many here who are spitting bile at him. It's time for people to move on and just accepting Jack for the person he is. Sadly it won't happen.

  5. Easiest way is to not click on the thread. Another useful tip is to purchase a mouse with a scroll wheel. May I ask why this bothers you? Not the concept of this competition but how is this thread such an annoyance that it would compel you to make such a statement rather than just manually ignore the thread? It's just a line on a screen in an index on Demonland and not flooding your timeline on Facebook or Twitter.

  6. I’d rather he be fit to play AFLX and not have gotten injured at training, personally.

  7. Thank God he misses out on theAFLX crap. Reckon TMac should get scratched with his sore toe as well.

  9. Some of those odds came in a bit. I managed to get 22 boosted. I know you can put a quinella in a parlay on the TAB. Thats the only time ive seen it. Cant d that with ladbrokes anyway, im assuming ditto with the other corporates.

  10. Yeah I was thinking of putting up a 3/5 exacta ($12) as I've been doing quite well with that type of exotic bet in the racing off-season. Can one multi up an exacta with win bets Wadda? But I am doing a 'Deeza' and will be putting on a box6 F4 in the CF Orr Stakes ... only issue is that I narrowed it down to 8 choices then PL (in advance) kicked in! Anyway, I'm on with our 3 choices so good luck everyone!

  12. Best Bets: Caulfield Race 2 No 3. Crack The Code $2.40 Caulfield Race 7 No 4 Social Spin $3.80 Caulfield Race 9 No 4 Avilius $3.00 Those 3 fabulous choices in a win multi get you around 27/1.... (providing they win) Good luck punters !

  13. Its a pretty hard week with all these horses changing stables and 2 yo races. Plus im on a hatrick, so no pressure ! Best Bet: Race 7 No 4 Social Spin $3.80 Ps i was going to quinella Voodoo Lad /Nature Strip cause the others wont get near them. I also think Voodoo might win in which case the quinella will pay ok. But, because of multi punting restrictions on-line, i will go with the above selection.

  15. I'm in the stuff 'em without Gawn camp too. Would be inclined to see Preuss have a shot at Cox's mobility whilst seeing just how fit Preuss is. Would they be playing both their bigs...not sure

  16. I think most TAC clubs can have a couple of overages but because Bradtke is also on an AFL list he'd probably need permission from the AFL as well. So both would be the answer is my guess. Will give us a great chance to see how he compete's with guys around his own age given he missed all the underage years. Should hopefully fast track him as a player or conversely mean the club gets a quicker idea if he's worth persisting with.

  21. Watts had his only decent finish in the Melbourne B&F in 2016, coming 5th. His speech was embarrassing "I'm usually down there drinking free [censored], I should try harder" to paraphrase. Comes back for the start of 2017 and is promptly dropped from the JLT games due to skin folds/attitude/work rate - take your pick. At season end Goodwin says 'get rid of this bloke'. Finishes his first year at Port in 21st place in their B & F. Lurid text messages are posted late in 2018 and now this stupid video. He has talent but no desire. It's pretty common. Those here that were railing against Watts going (@bobby_mackenzie etc) look pretty stupid now. Watts is a waste of space as a footballer. A ripping bloke from all reports but frankly who cares. I am glad the Dees made the hard call. It was always the right thing to do.

  22. Mods, can you please delete my previous post, no. 54. I don't want to provoke a Titanic type result to befall the dees, though arguably we have already been punished from that source.

  26. I'll also be furious. I don't accept the line that players are more likely to be injured during training etc. When that happens at least they are preparing for playing footy. They have to in order to play well during the season, not engaging in a ridiculous event to show how clever the AFL bosses are.

  27. Oh yes they can Mono. We have seen the past, we know the present and can imagine the future. A massive mega dollar operation, obscenely paid executives and the whole tribe at AFL House trying to justify their existence, meet their KPIs to ensure a nice fat bonus, and to satisfy their masters, namely, TV, Media and advertisers. Macca talks about appealing to a younger demographic the under 35 year olds. I reckon it's actually the kids under about 16. As for an overseas market pull the other one. If there is a potential market for this great national game excluding a couple of states and territories, it will be so obscure to be almost invisible except on pay TV Channel 950.

  30. Maybe , maybe not. Many of us still loved the Wiz, even after he left. He obviously still loves the club. And on a different note. I hold Jack and Todd Viney in the highest regard for their early commitment to the cause during the "basket-case level shyteness circa 1014/1014"

  31. If he'd gone to Hawthorn he would've only got a handful of games. If you don't put you're head over the ball and go when it's your turn, Clarko doesn't play you.

  35. Money and a jog around ... at a guess I reckon the AFL/Marvel are putting up a million for the players. 50k each for the captains & 20k for each of the players. All for 20-30 minutes of tackle-free footy Give me some of that! As an aside, I wouldn't be letting any of our top dozen players play in the JLT practice games. The risk of injury is far far worse. Another aside ... AFLW has gained an audience despite most people that I run into having zero interest in the concept. Good on AFLW I say.

  36. I have a different feeling about this year than I have with all those previous rebuilds. Also words on a screen shouldn't affect the outcome unless you say something really blasphemous to upset the footy gods.

  37. Getting tired of this same old re-hash. The guy has talent but never the mindset of an elite AFL footballer. Not once or twice this has been shown but over and over and a lot of people including myself chose to ignore it for a long time. I’m constantly having opposition fans tell me rubbish like “I heard somewhere if Watts had gone to Hawthorn he would have been one of the AFL’s best players” and “It wasn’t Watts’ fault, he went to a basket case of a club” turn it up. Some of it is true to an extent but doesn’t hold any water when explaining the guy’s entire career.

  42. I don't think he uses the ball well enough 'Fat'... We now have a mix of players who can play this position & are good users/decision makers. I would rather them play into form/team in preseason. I think we are past trialling players in positions as far as best 22 go. Casey will be used to further develop depth.

  43. TBH I am struggling to justify a spot for Lewis - but can you drop a guy with his status, is he untouchable? I feel like last year he played the backline sweeper, stepping in for Lever, but I'm not sure of his role given he's not the quickest mover.
