  1. Cam was interviewed on a ‘competing’ Demons podcast on Monday. He said he was knocked out for about five seconds during the VFL game. Apparently the first time in his life he has been concussed and he has pulled up well, is training and available for selection. Apparently Goodwin has acknowledged to Cam that he is playing very well and banging on the door. He said Goodwin had some sympathy for his situation and that there will be injuries and form lapses amongst the players and so Cam just has to keep playing well. He was the Captain of the VFL side on Sunday. Cam also said that at this level the players aren’t as strong or fast and he thinks he has most players measure in a marking contest. He is studying to become a teacher and sounded realistic about his contract situation joking instead of a two year deal he thought a month to month deal more likely. He seemed like a really good bloke. I hope he gets an opportunity at the senior level, through sheer weight of form, at some time this season.

  3. Professionally approached training. The coaches had the field well organized for drills with player skills and involvement abundant. Light duties included, Jack Viney, Jake Melksham, Joel Smith, Mitch Hannan, Christian Salem and Tom Mcdonald. Vieing for the Jake Lever position looked to be either tall or small. Dion Johnstone, Sam Frost, Petty Harrison, Harley Balic, Jayden Hunt, Josh Wagner. All having exteneded training and being the last off the track. Along with Declan Keilty, Lachlan Filipovic and Sam Weideman. The rehab squad was Cory Maynard and Dean Kent. Simulations were well controlled clean football. Some goal kicking practice had video been taking for later analysis. Coaches stole the day with Max Rook absorbing the beautiful winter sun rays on his scalp with his new crew cut.

  4. Pedersen also said about Goodwin He doesn’t have an office and sits in an area with the other coaches making it easy to have ‘chance encounters’. “Goodwin doesn’t hide away in an office”. You can have a joke with him. He is unrelenting about being competitive. If you are not competitive then you won’t play in a Goodwin side. Cam said there were flashier players who could be playing but Goodwin wants good, honest contributors. Goodwin is big on the what you are outside the club, the ‘higher purpose stuff”

  6. Lol is that a real rumour (as real as they can be), or some toss on BigFooty or facebook just making stuff up? I hope it’s true. Imagine that situation; you grow up supporting a team, and get drafted by the team you grew up barracking for on to the rookie list, at a time the club is in the toilet. During that time, you slog your guts out trying to make a name for yourself at a club barely able to support itself, let alone you. Half way in to your career, you finally establish yourself as an AFL quality midfielder, and the team you grew up loving and now play for is flying. Then some two bit pack of muppets from across town and about 14 spots lower on the ladder come knocking. They give you an offer to toss away your life long connection and newfound enjoyment of winning games of footy to lose at Etihad in front of about 5 people every week. I don’t think I’d be able to contain my laughter.

  7. Haven’t heard that, but I was listening to SEN when they asked Jack Viney who he’d take and he said Jimmy Toumpas. Oh well, we take Wines and he drags us over the line in a few of the close games in 2014 and 15. This pushes us up the draft order and we miss out on Petracca, Brayshaw and Oliver. Essendon won’t accept a later second round pick for Melksham and Hibberd and tell us to take a hike. Another club pounces on ANB and O’Mac and Tom McDonald leaves the Dees to play alongside his brother. Hogan doesn’t want to play in a forward line without any support so he departs and Lewis doesn’t sign onto a club that doesn’t even have a key forward. Passing on Wines was the best thing we’ve ever done.

  8. His hands are only one of his weapons. His footy smarts and decision making is years ahead of his age and experience. He doesn't play like a young player in his 3rd season, he looks like he has been doing this forever. He is like nothing I have seen before.

  11. Trac is playing his role well... motoring along as a nice cog in the machine without any spectacular games or BOG's... seems to be playing as a high half forward, where he was more a mid the first month of the season. Probably spending less time in the midfield than he would like during our winning streak. Would love to see him explode on Queens Birthday with a massive 30 disposal, 5 goal game in a huge Demon victory. Its also his 50th game .

  13. Anyone noticed that his teammates are now starting to do more of those backwards handballs to find players in space? He is revolutionising this team’s ball use out of packs.

  14. Just read on Collingwood BF, the game on Queens Birthday is all about celebrating one of Melbourne's former great players. Alright, i'Ve got a fairly high tolerance for reading BS, but this takes the biscuit. I can't go on reading Collingwood BF anymore. These fools are tragically uninformed. They really are swimming in the shallow end of the gene pool. I think most would have a good future as lab rats but that would force honest, decent rats out of the work force. There is only so much ill informed nonsense you can read. I know. I've been reading posts on demonland for the best part of 5 years.

  15. On the contrary, I think it's terrific. We have a bloke who loves the club and understands the situation he is in. It sounds like he is enjoying his footy, is ready to contribute when needed and is going places off the field as well. Can't ask for much more than that!

  16. Updated for Tom McDonald contract till 2022! Re Tom McD. Lewis said last night he would have been silly to leave. That goes for all our players. Unfortunately, we will have to push some out.

  17. Given the average wage for an AFL footballer this year is $371,000 (source below) and going up to $389,000 by the end of his contract you would hope Nev would be on a better than average contract. http://www.afl.com.au/news/2017-06-20/players-get-20-per-cent-pay-rise-in-new-cba

  18. He should be called Bluey because of his red hair and the amount of Blueys he'll rack up through his career.

  21. Franklin hasn't even played half the season and Hogan is in much better form. Gawn is 3rd in AFLCA voting 10 votes ahead of Grundy. Rance at FB? He hasn't been that good especially early in the season. Typical robbo no idea.

  22. Rance's punching of the back of Jack Watt's head whilst Jack was laying face down on the ground tells us everything we need to know about Alex Rance's character. Great player sure, but plenty of personal flaws. Diving and gutless sniping just two of them.

  23. I understand this has nothing to do with Demons but it is to do with the health of the game. Rance performed one of his most blatantly absurd and bulldusty dives on the weekend, was rewarded with a free kick and today his coach comes out and says there is nothing wrong with the way this soap star in his own lunchtime plays the game. He then criticised those who have raised their voices about this serial offender's antics. What annoys me is that even those who criticise this so called 'legend' almost apologise that they can fault Rance because he is a 'great' player, after all. Rance's claim to great player status is totally immaterial to the discussion about his flagrant and continued breaches not only of the spirit of the game but the basic laws of the game. In other words, he's a bloody cheat who deserves to be called out for his cheating and his total disrespect for the game. He plays like someone who feels he is entitled. In other words, he plays like a kid who has never grown up, who is entrapped by his own sense of privilege and vanity.

  24. Whilst Trac has done some amazing things at times and he may well be playing his role perfectly .. I still think all this media hype at how much of a star he is .. is totally unfounded. Don't get me wrong.. he certainly has incredible talent and could be anything as a player.. But it feels as though he hasn't had a BOG performance yet. Once he taps into his full potential on a weekly basis .. LOOK THE [censored] OUT

  25. Some players have to be comfortable playing roles to let others shine. CP5 is playing a role and I think to call him Sylvia Redux is pretty rude tbh.

  27. I think it would be coup for James Sutherland rather than for any club that might appoint him. I've been surprised for the best part of the last decade that Sutherland has remained as CA CEO while that sport has progressively diminished in so many ways.

  29. Hi I’d like to ask Harmes a question. Do the players use round 23 last season as motivation going into this game or have they moved on and left that in the past?

  30. 1 - Elbowed Watts in the back of the head 2- Ducked into a tackle which resulted in him having to go off the ground (was earlier in the same game I think?) 3- Stages for a free kick when nudged by Franklin (last year) 4- Stages for a free kick when jabbed by Greene (last year) 5- Gets done for staging against the Crows in R2 this year 6- launches like Jeff Hardy at the slightest touch against the Bombers The thing I hate is the commentary earlier in the week that "he'll learn from it" and making out like it's one blemish on an otherwise fine record. It's the 4th time he's blatantly staged in the last 12 months not to mention every other time he ducks his head/throws himself back/dives forward. Hes a serial offenders and he should've coped a week for that disgrace of an effort last Saturday. I hate Prance (as my sister calls him) and that's coming from someone with a soft spot for the tigers.

  31. His sloppiness with the footy is what hurts him. I will stand by the fact that he is bloody good player - you don't find it as easily as he does without a great deal of talent. What a great place to be that ANB, Harmes, Fritsch and co. are keeping him out. I trust him to come in and contribute and keep us going and that is great. You can't replace your best players of course, but Tyson could easily be in the 22 that runs out deep in September.

  32. I was born in 94, so I haven't been around for nearly as long as many Dees fans on here. I also recognise that recency bias tends to play a part when making these kinds of calls, you only need to look at the current debate around Jordan/Lebron in the NBA. Having said that, I am now certain that Clarry is the best footballer I've seen at the club in my lifetime. The incredible aspect of that statement is that he's still only 20 years old, and will probably still get better. I have never seen the consistency of excellence he provides every week from anyone who's pulled on our jumper, regardless of age.

  34. Entertaining interview with T Mac on SEN a short time ago. • Oscar and the club have started talks on his contract. • The boys have a tennis, squash and board games club. Beats drinking beers mid-week IMO. • Was asked about the “ Camp” and admitted he was in the middle of it and could see both sides of the argument. Basically said mountain out of molehill.

  38. I want to see him kick more on occasions, there's times where he is a link in a chain streaming through the middle and rather than take a kick when he has a chance he can stop and go sideways/backwards halting our momentum somewhat. He is a beautiful kick as well.

  39. Yup, Max is now 2nd favorite for the Brownlow.. but thats not enough for Slobbo. The guy knows nothing about footy. I do not believe his brain can retain information. His learning ability is at simian level, perhaps worse. He is an extremely low IQ individual.

  40. Grundy gets the nod, because Eddie thinks he'll win the Brownlow... and 9-10 Herald Sun readers are Collingwood supporters - the ones that actually still bother to go to a newsagent to buy a paper anymore. No Neville Jetta either. A complete outrage.

  41. In my eyes Neville is a modern-day hero of the MFC, in some ways cast from a similar mould to Nathan Jones. Both wear our colours with pride. I can't see that changing!
