Toumpas = the new Watts, he was serviceable tonight, ran his back side off. The person people should be pointing the finger at is Howe, he just dances around and doesn't do a thing, so many poor efforts. We were smashed by a match bigger and hungrier team. Swans vs Freo granny this year.

It's a great cause. Thankfully, we're one of the lucky ones. My wife is well 10 years after chemo and radiotherapy for breast cancer. She was just 34 at the time. She graced the MCG in the first year of the pink ladies.

There was only about 25000 there tonight and im tipping a fair few of those who are posting on here were watching from the comfort of their couches. An issue for another day but poor turnout by YOU. Being at the ground we worked hard to pressure and harrass Sydney but where we kept getting hammered was not pinning the ball or the player in the tackles and contested situations. Far too many times we got tackled and the ball was either held up or turned over and then when the swans players were tackled they either broke them or got the ball free and out to a player who moved it on quickly. Quite simply, we were completely outmuscled around the contest tonight. There is no quick fix for that as it takes time to build our young midfielders up and we simply dont have the same amoutn of tall strong midfield beasts to compete with both Freo and Sydney. The Swans were far better at their transition from defence to attack and held their structure better so that they always had an option to kick too on the break. And they hit targets. Too often our forwards were sucked too far up the ground leaving no marking targets at half forward or loose swans there. This is where those watching on TV will never get an understanding of what is going on. Multiple times the demons were moving out of half back and there was literally nobody to kick the ball too. That's what then causes hesitation and indecision and that is when they then turn the ball over or stuff it up. Picket Fence please give it a rest. You are so Toumpas focussed you cannot see past your nose. He was so far from our worst tonight its not funny. He ran hard, competed hard and when there was an option available he took it. But when your only target is garlett amongst three swans defenders i don't blame him for hesitating or trying the impossible. People say Watts had no impact, again, he was the sub so pretty hard to influence the game from there. When he came on the game was over but he still had a crack. Again not the problem. At the ground Pyke absolutely destroyed Spencer. Spencer offers absolutely nothing. I have always said he competes hard but that does not cut it at AFL level when you are a liability otheriwse. A horrid passage of play occurred when he gave a handball off to jonesy running through half back but then failed to follow up and support by laying the block/shepherd and it resulted in jonesy getting smashed. He has absolutely no football nouse nor skills. Howe was poor tonight. Dunn had a bad night. Dawes was sucked too far up the ground and even still didn't offer much. But quite simply- we were hammered by a bigger, stronger, faster, fitter and more skilled team. Anyone with common sense should be able to see that. We competed hard- drawing even or thereabouts in many of the contested categories but you cannot change phyisics and these simple facts. Next week will be more of the same. It is the weeks after that where we might have some hope again.

Hogan would kick 80 in a top 4 side, but don't tell him that. We really need frost as a key defender for the likes of Tippett, Griffiths etc... I thought we were going to lose by more, and I thought the scoreboard flattered us. Well done Billy.

I know this goes against what most think but we are in desperate need of a quality ruckman to give us first use of the ball and contribute as a mid around the ground.

I think Melbourne supporters have all felt their fair share of heartbreak over Mitch Clark. I'm done with him, and couldn't care less if he never plays another game. Harsh, but that's how I feel.

The Hawks will need to watch out as we'll be on a double rebound and Dawes/Spence will be better for the run!

My mum (a diehard MFC supporter) was diagnosed with breast cancer 10 years ago which she managed to beat. She made it onto the field for the first pink lady event and we stood with her proudly. Unfortunately it came back in her pancreas and mum died 4 years ago. This night always makes me think of her and miss her even more than usual. Go Dees.

He sounds like an absolute basket case mentally. Seems pretty clear to me he isn't ready or in the right frame of mind to be playing AFL if one sledge can break him down like this.

Cross walking would not be good. He's been an immense help down back and also in the middle. He's tired and limited but he's reliable and committed. Until our depth improves we need the likes of Cross to hang around as long as possible.

Going to my 3rd game this year Hopefully my third win this year too!

It was his first win at the MCG in Geelong colours, maybe the reality of his move set in for the first time? Whatever the reason, I hope he is doing well.

My mum has breast cancer and hail, rain or storm would not stop me from attending this match. I was on the ground for the Pink Lady game last year (I think it was 2014) with 1000's of other men and woman. I got tapped on the shoulder by a lady who I grew up with and went to kindergarten and primary school with. I have not seen her since I was about 15. She does not follow Melbourne but attends this game every year as she was diagnosed with breast cancer in her late 20's. Its a small world and I am amazed how this disease , despite how terrible it is, brings people together regardless of whom they support.

I know a number of females who have gone to the "pink" game and have thoroughly enjoyed the experience, and they aren't Melbourne supporters! This clip just highlights the importance of ensuring the awareness of breast cancer remains at the forefront of our minds. Especially for those that are fortunate enough to still have the most important female in their lives around - our mums.

Agree re: Toumpas. There are much bigger issues and a stack of worse players than Toumpas tonight. Also agree re: Dunn, although I thought he was OK tonight. He's nowhere near his 2014 form and it hurts us badly as he gave us good drive from the backline last year.

I know a lot of people wont agree, but i actually felt toumpas played quite solidly for his first game back. In the second half when he wasnt playing a defensive role he managed to get a few touches and use it solidly. Dunn has gone backwards quite a fair bit this season. I think jkh and pederson may be the two outs next week if jetta and viney return

How time flies? We're now a quarter of the way through season 2015. We appear to be improving but it's gradual and often you get the feeling of one step forward, one step back.

Eddie not happy about having to give handouts to other clubs but doesn't recognise the handouts his club gets every single year in the form of the fixture.

This latest episode is very disturbing, to see a man emotionally suffering like that is very confronting.

I hope he is ok, his is a journey, I wouldn't wish on anybody.

Eddie has been able to achieve a lot because when he took over The Filth Presidency the supporter base was already entrenched Allan McAlister had run the club completely off the rails, but the supporters were still there. Eddiie does what is best for Eddie and The Filth...Including Hijacking The Ponsford stand for his clubs exclusive use...which as an MCC member i find highly offensive Eddie is all about Eddie i assure you

Having the most supporters in the country and a loaded fixture certainly helps grow your club. The MFC has the largest conversion of supporters to members in the AFL. That is a great effort on its own considering our last few years.

If you want a vibrant and sustainable competition with equality of opportunity and uncertainty of outcome, the NFL model based around revenue sharing is the benchmark in professional world sport. If you want a parochial competition where those with the most money dominate the competition and oversaturate TV markets (like this year with Friday night footy) then Eddie's idea of equalisation is the way to go.
