  1. Hey all, I've lurked around this site and 'ology for couple of years now, never really felt like I had anything to add. My 5 year old is also battling cancer and was lucky enough to receive a visit from Col Sylvia a few weeks ago. Col was great and spent well over an hour with Seb, never seemed rushed or gave any indications that he would want to be anywhere else. Seb had already been through several rounds of Neuro surgery that week but was all smiles that day. In conversation Seb admitted that his favourite player was not Colin, but Jack Watts. Upon hearing this Colin personally organised for Jack to come in the following week. Jack again spent well over an hour with Seb, at a time he was plugged into a dialysis machine harvesting his stem cells. Again there were smiles in a most difficult time. Jack was also very honest and spoke candidly about his relationship with Neeld, who had already been dismissed. Both players demonstrated to me that they carry enormous compassion and to lose either would have a real negative impact on Off the field as much as on. After these recent experiences it makes me sad to read so many posters on here so keen to cut them adrift

  2. So today I was working on my dirt bike and decided to road test it, which is illegal in WA to ride an unlicensed vehicle on the streets. I was riding around the side streets around my house looking for oil leaks, testing the clutch and brakes and then cops pulled me over. They unwound their windows and all 3 of them told me it was a courtable offence what I was doing. Moreover they said this type of offence they cannot issue cautions for. They kept reinforcing that I had to attend a court hearing and all I could reply was acceptance sighs. They preceded to ask my details: Name, d.o.b,, where I lived and where I was from. I told them I moved over from Victoria. They questioned why I moved and I said that I was hiding from my football team. The cops asked what team it was and I replied "Melbourne Demons". They wound up the windows and had a chat amongst themselves laughing in he car. They wound down the windows and said I'd suffered enough pain this year and said that I had to walk the bike back home and let me off with a caution. To all my fellow demonlanders, this is what I call good karma from being a loyal supporter. Thanks for reading my story If you have similar stories of how you've benefitted from being loyal to your team, club, wife I would enjoy reading them. Cheers

  3. Do we really want to go into next year's Grand Final with two relatively inexperienced ruckmen though?

  5. Jolly may well be a demon in 2014. Jamar may not be a demon in 2014. Damien Barrett will definitely still be a [censored] in 2014

  6. Call me petty but I didn't like some of the things that came from Jolly's mouth after he left Melbourne.

  7. Jamar is finished, Spencer useless and Gawn is probably not ready. If they want to leave Clark forward and Jolly gets fit I can see value for a year or two. A senior ruckman can also help tutor a young midfield. It isn't the worst suggestion I've heard. And being familiar with the Leading Teams program and Swans culture also has its advantages. Ultimately, I trust ROOOOSY.

  8. There is absolutely no way Jamar, Jolly, Spencer, Gawn , Fitzy and Clark can all be on our list. That suggests to me if we are considering Jolly, Jamar is to be traded and possibly one other. If it was my call, I would forget Jolly, trade Jamar and keep the rest and rookie another young ruckman.

  9. At the risk of feeding a troll, I can't let that one go unchallenged. Nothing about these visits can be considered token. Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of token celeb visits to the kids in hospital, such as the Masterchef crews that came through with makeup and cameras and couldn't hide their contempt when told we don't watch their shows. Both players visiting Seb came by themselves, on their day off, and had genuine time to share. More importantly they brought genuine happiness to the most difficult time I have ever experienced. Calling it token just proves your own lack of empathy. I feel sorry for you

  11. It's a community that means something to some people. Doesn't mean anything personally to you - fine. I for one would be pretty pissed if Andy and Jack were tricked in to handing over the keys to Demonland to some fruitloop who saw my patronage of this site as some means to some crazy end after a decade of contributing to the site.

  12. When it's Watts, they're 'demands'. I guarantee if it was Jack Viney, people would be saying 'good on him for taking a stand on his career, what a legend, he owes this club nothing' etc etc.

  13. It seems to me that the new ownership believe that their site should exist to support the club and, in order to so, there should be no negative content. If that's the case, its a misguided view which will ultimately become self-defeating. It's a forum and its users go to express their views there on a regular basis - it's part of their lives and shouldn't be taken away from them. There are moves afoot to restore Demonology to what it was before yesterday. As a Demonology member, I support them.

  14. Thanks for the post 'Bradvermont', and I really hope your son comes through. It must be such a hard thing for you and your family to be going through this. The players do cop a bad wrap at times and I think we forget they are people first, trying to do their best in life even if we find it frustrating. It's good to hear about the positive things they do. This is a supporters site and we are all Demon and football tragics, at times discussion will get heated about different players and their merits. I do however get really p...off when they are called flogs etc. In the end they are kids doing the best they can. Good luck mate.

  15. People joined Demonology, and gave up their personal details, emails addresses, to participate in a football forum, not to have their private information to be handed over to the the [censored] family.

  16. The rah rah comes from the fact that the previous owner of Demonology has been unwell and may have been duped. It comes from the fact that 'ology (like 'land) is a community and that someone may have hijacked it for personal purposes/gain inclusive of its members personal details. I comes from the fact that many posters there have spent a decade discussing the MFC, donating to it and volunteering for it but that legacy is now owned by a person(s) with an unknown agenda which they will not state?

  17. I really dislike this disingenuous attitude. Jack, as any player coming out of contract, is entitled to consider his options. I don't blame him for having Malthouse and probably many more trying to poach him. Watts is undeniably talented, and has undeniably underperformed. 2 key ingredients to getting a "win" trade. If I barracked for another team, I'd be hoping they'd angle for Watts in a trade with insufficient compensation, in the hope we'd be trying to cut our losses since we've been unable to capitalise on his potential. The key in a trade like that is convincing him to push for a move, which probably means offering him slightly over the odds, and causing his hesitance. None of it is rocket science.

  19. Jamar looks very close to shot to me. Jolly looked worse this year. I'm not sure about this one.

  20. Jamar is signed until the end of next year, he was over the moon to know he will be a one club player. I don't see him going anywhere. As for Jolly, the game is beyond him, I couldn't care less about his desires, we don't need him.

  21. After 8 years, and 10,000 posts, I won't go on the site again whilst these blokes have the keys. quickest way to kill them off is to ignore them. Its a travesty that so many great threads and data will be lost, but so be it.

  22. Just a word of warning to any joint Demonland and Demonology members, particularly if you share the same username and password, please change your password on this site. You can do that by going into your profile. PM me if you need assistance. Your passwords on Demonology might not be encrypted. All passwords on Demonland are encrypted. It would be prudent to change them here to avoid your account being hijacked. This is just a precaution and not based on anything else.

  23. Try imagining yourself going into a rundown sh*tty old pub... then finding a lot of your old mates are there having a drink. And they're quite happy where they are drinking draught, even if you might want to go to a flash new pub down the road so you can get a mojito. That might give you some insight.

  24. I actually think Parker has the potential to be the best of the lot. In two years time he could be commanding $400k plus a year. Perhaps we could get in early.

  25. I have seen Jack Watts on many occasions running out holding hands with the "mascot of the day" and occasionally turning around to pick them up when they have fallen over after running through the banner. He is a really caring person, especially with the smaller kids. He has the right attitude & a lot of time for the supporters. All he needs is the right coach to get his game sorted out. I would hate to lose him from the club.

  26. im not panicked. I don't think Dr Who having my ology password is going to result in my properties being sold to Nigerian gangsters. But I, and many others, spend years and years contributing to the site. Forgive us if we're miffed that its been destroyed. For a bloke who claims not to care you've spent all day posting in this thread. Take a breather fella.

  27. If Paul Roos was not coach and new coach x was talking about picking up Jolly particularly after the fantastic success of our mature age players this year he would be howled down on this site. I dont think its a good idea unless it is a Ben Hudson set up and it is clear he is there as absolute back up and to mentor and nothing more.

  34. The Swans have one of the most impressive young list of up and coming midfielders in the competition, with the likes of Hannebury, Mitchell, Parker, Jetta and Rohan coming through to support the likes of Jack, Kennedy and McVeigh. The signing of Tippett along with their recent premiership will create salary cap pressure and make them vulnerable to losing some of these potential stars. Could Roos tempt one to come to the Dees? I'd love to see a Hannebury, Mitchell or Parker in a Melbourne jumper.

  48. http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/tigers-contract-fight-20130909-2tg3x.html Punt Road's Korin Gamadji Institute wants to pay Martin to be an Indigenous Ambassador? What an effing joke. The Tigers are just using this place for their own ends now. If Caroline would like to lift the lid on some shady practices and waste of government money - she should focus on Punt Road; more than 50% of the 'programs' and 'accredited training' to help indigenous youth transition into employment have been one-day barista courses... I am sure it helps to get the desirable and stable job down at the Starbucks on Collins St, but we don't need an institute for that... They do it to inflate numbers of people and programs at the institute, and as a way of sourcing more money. To pay for Am-effing-bassadors...
