"AT LEAST PRETEND YOU ARE TRYING" PMSL

Surely the players must look at this sort of stuff and think "My God! What the hell are we doing to this club?"

Young and Old supporters who bleed Red 'n Blue are hurting all over the country!

We are the club!

Pull your fingers out boys!

It was pathetic, and unfortunately I doubt it's not like it would have been a heat-of-the-moment comment, either.

it's true though...what about the last quarter goal from nathan thompson...he got a lucky bounce after it over went carroll which is unlicky but CJ just jogged slowly up towards him and had already raised the white flag...ANY member from a geelong or a kangaroos outfit would have gone for the smother and tried to stop the goal..

I saw that 'effort' from CJ and nearly puked.

Sick, empty feeling in the guts.

More like I had just puked, actually.

That and a couple of other half-arsed moments from him today have ended my patience with him.

Makes a mockery of stats, because this was possibly his highest ever number of posessions but one of his weakest games (and there's been a few)

Agree.

Its as much a slur on the supporters as it intends to be at the players. It achieves nothing and only draws to the attention to the naivety of the person who hung it on the fence.

There is a naive belief that the players dont care and are not hurting by whats happening on the ground.

At this time, you expect or hope spectators would be wanting to get behind the Club and support it not ridicule it.

I cant see how the banner supports the players and must make us supporters look a mockery when viewed by other teams.

No wonder we are generally ridiculed as going to Mt Buller in the winter. Very much downhill skiers.

P.S. I recall some years ago when Carlton lost a game at Princes Park and sealed their first wooden spoon, Carlton supporters surrounded the race as they came off and waved large wooden spoons at the players. Insulting, moronic and embarrassing. Looks like we are far away from it.

At least they were there! If everyone sat at home sucking their thumb praising them for "at least trying" we ain't going anywhere!

Not something I will be doing anytime soon, but good on 'em I say.

We are ridiculed for having no passion and accepting mediocrity. This if nothing else flys in the face of that for a change.

Its a pathetic effort especially when its the "supporters" ridiculing the players. I guess small things amuse small......

For too long MFC have overinflated the values of our "Stars", this simply conveys what we are feeling.

Its more than time that we have a culture that will not accept the crap that was served up again on the weekend.

Whether supporters "accept" crap or not will make a single shred of difference as to how the team plays. Richmond supporters have never accepted anything their rubbish sides have dished up, and look where it has gotten them. Nowhere.

good on them....atleast these kids attempted to get through to the players. We have been saying lots through demonland, and I know the club checks here and demonology out. They obviously don't listen to us, so I hope they caught a brief glimpse of the banner....

WELL DONE to two passionate young supporters

Sterling stuff that. Boy will the Club sit up an take notice now. Its to the credit that MFC does not take up most of the crap that gets posted on the internet.

A compelling exercise in futility and stupidity that achieves nothing.

Do you really think the current administration has that view? I would think its the opposite.

What do you think DB is doing with regard culture?

Do you think it will have gotten through to the players? Do you think they would be out on the field going "yep, some 16 year old twerp has put up a big banner. I'm definitely going to try much harder now!"

It defies logic that you could see this as constructive in any way. There's only two possible ways the players would react to this. The seasoned, thick skinned players would just dismiss it without giving it another thought. The more sensitive players might see it and want to ram it down the throat of the little shit who put it up. It's not that the players aren't trying, and it's utterly insulting to the players to suggest they're not. That's about the most simplistic view there is, and it's wrong.

I doubt these kids were looking to "get through" to the players anyway. More likely they were just seeking attention. Well it worked.

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo
