I do seem to remember some comment of his that he just wanted to knuckle down and be regular player with input, that he didnt want the captaincy. yeah right !!

Well Carlton have bought their bed lets watch them lay in it ( or is that lie in it ? lol )

So many eggs...just one basket!!

ommelette anyone ? ;)

Pretty sad state of affairs at their club if a first year recruit can walk straight into the captaincy. Speaks volumes about what they think of their home grown 'leaders'.

First thing Carroll should do against Blues ...sidele up next to Fev " Not good enough huh !! " :)

Its a bit of a bet really for the Bluebaggers.. could come terribly unstuck for them if Judd turns to Dudd and is sitting on the sidelines.

Id be dark though if I were Stevens. bet Nick isnt listening to any Eagles' songs right now!!

there's a new kid......... lmao

Pfft, typical money bags, probably didn't want the gig and pratt just chucked him another big bag of cash for him to take it up...

If somebody was to say that captaincy was in the contract, then I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest. Judd is a natural born leader and he will do everything by example, as well as market their club brilliantly.

Calrton aren't a bad side, as they did pretty well towards the end of last year. The only thing stopping them was that they weren't allowed to win a game! They will make the finals this year and win a premiership within the next 5 years.

shows you a lot about the quality of the carlton list when the captain and vice captain have both come from other clubs...

they have tried to buy a team. i can't really remember another club for who it has been successful (in recent history), so it will be interesting to see how they go.

Carlton have a history over the past 40 years of buying premierships. It has happened before and it will happen in the future.

Buying Premierships is all they know!

It's just taken them a bit longer to figure out how to do it AROUND the salary cap.

We however shouldn't throw stones in glass houses!

If Judd wasn't the sort of person who would sell his first born child for $50 and came to the club he supported as a kid, we would also have instilled him as captain.

If not this year; definitely next.

The man is a premiership captain FFS.

Fevola thinking he might get the gig is simply proof that having a good football brain doesn't always equal having a brain. The man is a moron.

Carroll should just plead with Fev to not tear him a new areshole....again.

Bit silly to call Judd overrated, but it'll be interesting to see how this pans out for Carlton. Agree that guys like Stevens would probably, quite rightly, be upset by this even if they dont go public about it. Its the sort of thing that could either work brilliantly or backfire, causing alot of animosity amongst senior players who've paid their dues and stuck around through a pretty miserable period in the clubs history only to be stepped over.

I wouldnt be overly worried about Judd's fitness if I was a Carlton supporter. I think most of the noise going around at the moment is just that, and that even if there is some truth to it, it doesnt really matter if he takes most of the year to get back to full flight since Carlton probably arent a good chance for the eight in any case- fact is he'll still be young enough in a few years when Carlton's top draft picks have matured. My main worry (apart from what I said in the first paragraph) would be that since he's just come in, he wouldnt have any real first hand experience of how things work at the club- he might be a born leader, but it might have been better if they'd given him a year or two to get a feel for his new workplace rather than just handing him the reigns. Since he's only been there a few months, there'd be plenty of guys on the list who he doesnt even really know yet- you'd think it'd make sense for a captain to have a good grounding of the strengths and limitations of the people he's supposed to be leading, and possibly some understanding of their personalities so that he can communicate with them effectively on a personal level.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
