7. Ian Johnson _channel 7 exec promises rebecca a spot on dancing with the stars or something like that, as he is helping us get juddy

As Rebecca already works for ch 7 (in Perth) and Johnno is on the MFC "Judd " sub-committee then she must be on the short list for new CH7 Melb weather girl!!!.

As Judd stated in his press conference other aspects of life are inportant to him! Paper said today they are looking to settle in bayside suburbs & lookinf towards raising a family. As Chris's parents live in Sandy makes sense & so is couple of boxes MFC can tick off besides the Club he supported and No 3 being available!

If I were him I wouldn't see hawthorn to be all that unappealing... They should be successful for the next few years, they play at the G and the travel time to trainings isn't huge from his bayside home (compared to say carlton).

there's a little question of off-field behavior that was in the news not long ago

Ian Johnson should offer judd what he wants and then sign bec to 7 for a million per year judd stays signed to us :)

Interesting concept - so that deal stays outside the cap..........

Actually something similar to that happened in the rugby league.......

With Mat Rogers girlfriend Chloe Maxwell given a massive radio contract with the major sponsor of the club he was going to sign for, the Gold Coast Titans.

It was investigated by the NRL for any salary cap breaches but given that no-one was going to say that she got the gig because of her connection to Rogers, or when she signed on to the station, but was employed because of her huge amounts of media ability and experience, especially in radio, the club was not penalised.

Make of that what you will  !!!

i think you could get away with it. the only problem would be getting the money thru chan 7 to twigs.

say chan 7 become our major sponsor (worth around 1 mil a year). we need to get money to twigs. we cant pay chan 7 to do it because that will show up on the books. if chan 7 withhold half the payment of sponsorship to pay twigs it will show up.

it will be obvious to those who look thru the books that the sponsorship deal is worth more than we are getting paid...

I don't think thats the point. We don't pay Twigley. Dear lord why would we?

What we can do is get her a very attractive position (pun sort-of intended) at Channel 7 Melbourne via Ian Johnson. He will obviously be able to pull some strings to arrange something, and nobody will be able to cry foul because she is smoking hot and already has a TV (and Channel 7) background. It is also in no way legally connected to the club.

I don't know whether MFC are going to approach this angle (that we can take care of his missus), but if Ian Johnson is indeed closely involved in this committee we apparently have set up, then we damn well should be. Judd is obviously very concerned about his outside-of-footy future, so we need to make some arrangements to this end.

Honestly I never thought I would say this.

However, strictly from a TV ratings point of view this might make some commercial sense for Channel 7.

Lets face it Collingwood, Carlton, Richmond & Essendon are always going to give you strong ratings.

However, if you strengthen the Demons its an added bonus for your ratings. I'm sure the more "blockbusters" then can promote the better.

Posted

and realistically hangon, if they are paying 100 million for the tv rights, whats an extra million or two to ensure they get the ratings ;)

Since she is already with channel 7 perth, it won't look suspicious, he is just transfering her contract to 7 melbourne, she then becomes the face of the spring carnival for 7 and what ever else she bloody well wants too!

It comes down to this:

Money, power, publicity, big crowds, great facilities

OR

Melbourne

Jaded,

I think the fact we lack these things gives us some sort of an advantage. (except for the facilities) He didn't want the fame and fortune side of it otherwise he'd have stayed with WCE. Other things motivate him.

Agree, that's the biggest spin everyone gets sucked into.

Apart from Facilities (which is an issue) Judd wouldn't give 2 hoots about everything else.

Money. wtf. He will earn as much in Melbourne as he would in Collingwood. Because Collingwood makes more revenue, Will his Melbourne $800,000+ salary be inferior to his $800,000+ contract with Collingwood.

Power/Connections: Every club's got connections and don't forget his Chris Judd. He could go to any company in Melbourne and they would take him in. He's Chris Judd and football is number one in this town.

Publicity. States he does not want to do media.

Big crowds. Judd will make everyone come out of the woods.

And I am sure he would be well aware that this is a problematic situation that is about to be changed for the better.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
