So yes, Kreuzer WILL go number 1 & that's all there is to say.

OK great then because you're so certain you'll be happy to pledge a year's salary to the MFC if it doesn't happen?

The only people whose opinions matter are Hughes, Miller (unless he's been replaced) and Cameron - all the rest is speculation.

In that case end of discussion, no need for a thread then.

Would you be happy to pledge a year's salary to the MFC if it does happen?

Im up for that bet, but change it, if he doesn't go number 1, you can give me your whole years salary.

100 PERCENT, 100 PERCENT.

Seems to me your out voted champ.

He will no doubt go number 1.

I'll quote myself, Tiger of Old:

Everyone just plays follow the leader and says what the last person said. And everyone then thinks that they are right because that's what everyone else said too.

How do you know Kreuzer is the best player? What are his strengths and weaknesses, and what makes him better than, say, Cotchin? Have you watched him many times and, importantly, have you watched everyone else many times? I doubt it. And I wouldn't rate your opinion anyway.

You said that he will be number 1, end of story. If that's the case then putting a year's salary to the club if he isn't is a moot point because the risk is zero. old55 isn't making any such claim, because Kreuzer will probably be number 1. But it's not 100% as you claim. If it was then you could make the bet knowing that there is a zero percent chance that you will lose money. What if Carlton traded pick 1 to Brisbane for Simon Black? Not certain then, is it?

Ever think a few people on here mayb be 17, 18, 19 years old and have played against, know, seen at junior level in there life time. Alot of people are their bloody age and are in their age group at footy!!!!!!!!!

I'm sure that a few of them have seen them. But have they ever been involved with senior football? That's what we're recruiting for. And a 17 year old has only seen one year of under 18s footy, and doesn't know whether the players they saw will be decent AFL footballers.

Jarka:

I know one of them posts here, but he hasn't posted in this thread, has he? Pretty much everyone (I may have missed some) that has posted such an opinion on this thread is someone who, through being part of Demonland for a while, I have seen is not a regular draft watcher. They are casual punters like you and me.

I say this as a warning to everyone who is following their first draft on internet supporter sites. It happens every year and I don't want them to be sucked in by people on this thread who talk like they know what's happening, but clearly don't. I know who the good ones are, as you probably do, through following many drafts while being a member here. And they haven't popped up in this thread yet.

I AGREE WITH SYLVINATOR KNOWING A LOT ABOUT HENDERSON HE LIVES IN THE SAME TOWN AS ME BIRREGURRA (famous for a former great melb player Alan Rowath) I HAVE SEEN HIM PLAY KNOW HIS FAMILY HE HAS A GREAT ATTITUDE HE IS VERY IMPOSING ON THE FIELDDEDICATED SUPRISINGLY QUICK AND LIKE HIS MOTHER VERY STRONG HE HAS THE SAME BUILD AS HAWKINS HIS KICKING NEEDS A BIT BUT CAN TAKE A PACK MARK WOULD BE AN IDEAL REPLACEMENT FOR NETA YOU WOULD BE VERY IMPRESSED ONLY ONE PROBLEM HE BARRACKS FOR COLLINGWOOD HIS PARENTS HOPE THAT MELB PICKS HIM UP

That is hilarious. I know the family too and I love how you say he is very strong like his mother =) Clubs contacted the family when he was 14 so he has been on the radar for some time. We are definately interested but I suspect everyone is.

I actually think the other two may be thick enough to think that logically follows, but I'm surprised at you.

It's hard to tell with you "mate". Your track record is patchy ...

Trade anything to get another top 10 pick.

Was that also sarcastic or would you really trade McLean or Rivers for a top 10 pick?

It's never a good sign when Yze Magic agrees with you

No need to be smart arse with that little "mate" comment. I was actually saying mate trying to be a nice bloke so don't be a dick.

I wouldn't be upset if we traded Mclean. Would be if we traded Rivers. Only talking genuine trade bait when I said that or were you to 'thick' to realise cause im sure other people would get that, considering I was following on from someone who was talking about bruce, tj, robbo, miller cj, and pick 21. Don't try and be a smart arse to me.

Why would it be good if you agreed instead of Yze Magic anyway are you some kind of genius. Over you mate. Just be an Aussie, take some sarcasm and don't try and act like your smarter than anyone.

Thread is very useful if people actually have first hand info in draftable players.

What's less useful is definitive statements about who will go where in the draft.

Like Bob says - what if Carlton trade pick 1 to WC for Judd - is it certain that WC will take Kreuzer? Nobody knows for sure.

We need to trade into the top 10

I want 2 of Ebert, Henderson and Palmer

U GUYS have hijacked this thread for days now, what about making it about the topic rather than about who's right &/or who's wrong?

i rate Mclean higher than Cooney, Adcock and Shaw. you may think im just biased demon supporter but it's not such a radical call.

Mclean had a mediocre season, true, but last season he ripped it up and anyone following his career would know that this season was crueled by injuries and is not a true indicator.

Cooney: inconsistent and overated. Mclean is a better player. Cooney shows zero leadership ability...Mclean is future captain.

Adcock: had a far far far better season than Mclean. No doubt! he is a great player, i really rate him dont get me wrong. however in the long-run i see Mclean as a better overall player with a bigger upside with Mclean's leadership giving him the edge.

Shaw: r u hoenstly telling me u think Shaw is a better player than Mclean. You really think Shaw was the best player drafted that year. if so, ur argument is bollocks.

who is better is obv subjective and arguable...

none the less, McLean WAS tipped to be pick 10-15 in most phantom drafts. i followed them that year religiously bc we had 2 top 5 picks

im not gonna get started on this.... but by this time next year i reckon we willl know the answer

Consdidering there will be not chance to get Kruzer or Cotchin i hope we do draft either McEvoy or Ebert...

However i just hope that if we were to draft Ebert he wouldnt so a Scotty Thompson on us and [censored] of home after he has developed into a gun footy player.

The more i have read about the highly rated draftees the more i think we will go for Palmer.

imo palmer could easily go pick 2 or 3, and if he slips to pick 4 we should snap him up.

he will 100% be a gun midfielder. plus he has pace which our midfield lacks.

a midfield of a fully fit Mclean, Sylvia, Jones, Palmer, Moloney, Bartram, Dunn (with Green, Bruce, Johnstone and Jmac going through as well) we will have a seriously exciting young midfield.

people should note that Mclean, Sylvia, Moloney and Bartram all had severely inturupted seasons by injuries (Sylvia lost his preseason so he couldnt play midfield). Dunn developed alot this season so could be a permanent wingman next year. thats seriously improved midfield from last season...

if top 3 goes kruiser, cotchin, morton....

then if bailey chooses a midfielder i think he should go for Palmer

if he goes for k.p.p then henderson

but i think he might go for Rance at pick 4. the best key defender to come out of a draft in years.

Posted

i also think we should go all out to try and claim a second top 10 pick.

whether that means trading trapper then so be it...he is 27 and is still unable to put a fully consistent season together. he will be amazing for another club, because he is an absolute genius with the footbal...but he isnt what we need atm trying to rebuild our list.

if we had pick 4 and 8 then we could get 2 rippers. There are about 10 awesome draftees this season so we will be guereteed 2 of them.

top 10 most probably:

Kruiser

Cotchin

Morton

Palmer

Henderson

Ebert

Rance

Masten

McEvoy

Rioli

any 2 of those could set us up in the same way having 3 top 7 picks set up hawthorn a couple of years ago (Roughead,Franklin,Lewis).

imagine if we got Palmer (ripper inside/outside quick midfielder), and Rance (extremely highly rated key defender)...2 gaps filled up. all we'd need is a huge CHF and we have all problem areas filled. and if we picked up henderson then that gap could be filled instead.

Yeah a 2nd pick would be nice. Hopefully we could snare Palmer and one of Henderson and Rance. I would prefer we take Henderson, but CAC will know what he wants.

Hey guys, i actually played juniour footy with Palmer and against Masten. The reason why it seems palmer has only just started getting big possies and kicking goals is that the last two years and especially juniour footy he was heavily tagged and attacked by the opposition and because of this has been playing with alot of niggly injuries. Palmer can run and carry but he also gets in and under the packs, his only problems are that sometimes his disposals let him down, and like sylvia likes to get on the [censored] and party hard. Masten in comparrison is not as fast or as big a possesion getter but he is more cosistant, has better disposal and shows better leadership qualities.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team.
