The Zebras aren't on TV today but the next best thing after actually turning up to support the boys in person is to listen to the game on 3XX Radio 1611.

The station is also looking out for callers -

"3XX 1611 AM - VFL FOOTY CALLERS WANTED

We have vacancies in the Saturday Call Team for the remainder of this season, and are looking to further develop our call teams for 2008.

If you have an interest and call a game of footy for radio, AND are available on SATURDAYS, please let us know by calling 9532 1611 or email to [email protected]"

I'd apply for the gig myself but I don't have a clue about VFL opposition players. However, if 3XX wants some real educated vox pop comments from the punters in the crowd then we're usually situated on or next to the gravel just under the pisspots (I mean that very respectfully BTW) on the social club stand balcony.

The folks at 3XX do a good job and they even gave Demonland an on air plug last time they covered us so listen out and please report here as the game unfolds.

Or alternatively you could support one of Demonland's own :P and listen to the game on Casey Radio, 3SER (97.7fm). For those not in the south-east of Melbourne, there is streaming online at www.3ser.org.au

Streaming has noticeably improved in recent weeks, so buffering problems should not be encountered in the manner that used to occur. We broadcast from the social club, so it usually gives the coverage an interesting 'edge' as well.

Enjoy the game!

Didn't know both games were being broadcast on radio or that one of our own was involved with 3SER. My only problem with the station was that last time I tried to tune in on my el cheapo Dick Smith walkperson, all I could hear was this bloke talking in Greek. Do you have interpreters or was I on the wrong waveband?

Which ground were you at? The recent upgrade of the transmittor means that the coverage has been going out more smoothly and to further distances in recent times. So you might be able to listen at the ground on the trannie, but unfortunately I can't make any promises. We still have licence restrictions (as a community station) which means we only have a very limited range, while Double X still have a delay of about 40 secs (not too sure, but I think they might be trying to fix that).

Pretty sure it was at Sandy but I'll give it a try again today on my very fragile trannie. You're right about the 40 second delay on XX. That's a real bummer!

Trannie. I haven't heard that word for years.

It's still in common usage as an abbreviation for trans-sexual.

No seriously, the germanium transistor is still with us. The processor chip in your computer probably has 20 million or more of them.

it's just we don't identify them individually or in groups any more eg AWA Radiola 6 Transistor radio.

you hear it a little in terms of amplifiers (guitar), they come in two main sorts, valve or solid state (transistor)...

We think we're doing OK for our first year in VFL footy, despite the variable delay we seem to have resulting from using a technology the has allowed us to cover any game anywhere. There is a delay - yes - however we are close to a solution ! ;)

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
