Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Great another cheap shot at the players thread.

Lets get on board.

Seriously the Club is playing an injury ravaged side with a fair smattering of youngster and testing NQR player for delisting. The results of the past two weeks were always possible given the objectives for the rest of this year.

Wow, sarcasm

I was simply asking others whether they has noticed a lack of intensity.

Am I to take it that your assessment is that our team is giving 100% at the moment, regardless of injuries and the other excuses?

No you weren't.

Your comment mocked the players by asking about their "effort".

Thank you for your thoughts.

EDIT: But I was referring to the intensity, sorry for the confusion.

Here's something that may create ire in the eyes of demonlanders...

Ask yourself this:

Given the circumstances of this year, the squad, the injuries, the coach leaving and the current coach coaching, the obvious semi-tanking tactics at the selection table etc etc... How sure are you that you could go in at over 100% intensity (what the Roos, Pies, Hawks and others bring as they are still in the running for a flag) if you were playing in their places?

I'm grown up enough to say that I'd find a way to have a dip at the footy, to play hard within myself, and still go at 100%... but you're kidding yourself if you think the body-blows they've taken this year aren't having an effect on their morale. I see players that use every ounce of their heart ALL the time, and they still make horrendous blunders, like Brown, and I see players wax and wane in their moods like Robbo, have just as much effect on our year.

You can't bottle confidence, or the inspiration that brings it. MFC is in a low time on-field. I for one EXPECT our better players to be beaten since most of our best are out, and the young guys that are in aren't quite up to it just yet. They're going in as hard as they can find the will to go... Unfortunately without support, and without enough skilled players, and without maturity and leadership we just have to make do with what we have. Our results so far reflect this.

This situation is unfortunate, and we bleed, but don't let's be Richmond eh?

our clearances, hard ball gets were all pretty good the other evening.... their skills let them down and this is because we are missing some skilled players and playing players with less skill...

i expected to lose and while disappointed at this, continue to see good signs from our kids....

we should be looking at port, the cats and the roos to see them able to turn it around in a season.. we had a good list last year but fell in the finals... the difference this year was the change of game style (players able to do it) and injuries.....

2008 could be just our year!!

Post of the day. It helps nobody to self implode. negativity only breeds one thing more negativity. the players are trying at the moment it is just completely beyond them. people should accept that move on and look at the positives. stay positive.

who is improving?

who is learning valueable lessons?

throwing mud, ranting and raving helps knowone. it just fractures the whole club. essendon are about to self implode you watch. we cant afford to do that.

Having a crack eh?

What your flashing your arse at us!

He may have been speaking of this "crack".

The Craic (Pronounced ‘crack’) – An Irish word with no direct translation in English. Means partying, enjoying the company of others, having a good time and a fair amount more.

my gf totally sat next to him on friday night.

i don't have any issue with anything he says here, unlike the time we won our first game in round 10 before he proclaimed we'd play finals. but this shows leadership, a player amongst a team with so little confidence proclaiming it to be a positive that we only have a 6-day break. i heard riley speaking of the positives of playing so many away games at the end of the year, so perhaps his philosophy has rubbed off on green.

a good positive attitude, the base to build confidence.

the thing that possibly makes me the saddest about this year is watching the players go around with such little confidence, the same melbourne team that can dominate an opposition still putting in, but not having the confidence to really drill them.

but we'll get through it, and thinking like this will help on those massive summer runs and weigths sessions, and that mindset will breed a sea of confidence in the team and a positive springboard for next year

"There might not seem to be a lot to play for at the moment, but none of us wants to play badly or be thrashed."

True, and I hope that this weekend we see solid effort from our boys

I actually think Brad Green was one of the few that looked like he was having a crack against the Power

Agreed, but a handful out of 22 isn't good enough

Hopefully we see a good battle of sunday

    TRAINING: Tuesday 23rd April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin ventured down to Gosch's Paddock to bring you his observations from this morning's Captain's Run including some hints at the changes for our ANZAC Eve clash against the Tigers. Sunny, though a touch windy, this morning, 23 of them no emergencies.  Forwards out first. Harrison Petty, JvR, Jack Billings, Kade Chandler, Kozzy, Bayley Fritsch, and coach Stafford.  The backs join them, Steven May, Jake Lever, Woey, Judd McVee, Blake Howes, Tom McDonald

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
