Latest news is that Yze wont play again this year. He has been a great player for us, however his last couple of years have been ordinary. Has he played his last game for The Dee's?

Has a year left on his contract.

Can't see him pulling the plug early, although it could free up a spot on the veterans list (Whitey can take it), leaving extra room in our salary cap, which would be handy.

There are far too many others ahead of him in the queue on the way out anyway. I think it will be refreshing for Yze and many of the others to have a different person in control of the club and it all adds up to some exciting times ahead.

No he should stay for the next year, if he can regain form he is a dangerous player, and a new coach might make him chase and tackle and require him to do these things every game for him to hold his spot.

I think he's been criticised to much ,i think he led the club in kicks last season. Plus playing while injured is probably why he has been a bit off. He would be very dangerous around the goalsquare, always able to kick a few when he's down there

I agree, think he's been a pretty good servent to Melbourne and reckon he deserves to go out with a bit of style, not Nicho style. Get him right for next year and he can still have an impact.

We'll never see the consistency of early 00's again, espec 04, but here's hoping he still has a bit to give.

well i look forward to seeing more of newton, dunn and frawley the next 9 weeks, three young talls who could become good players. and i hope that buckley and CJ get a bit of a run over the coming weeks. im not sure if garland is ready to step up but he might get another game or two...

Amen to that Deanox......

Totally the right decision to pull the pin on Yze, and the others, for the rest of this season.

But Adem will have to work hard to regain his place next year. He has been a great servant of the club, but the reality if that the end is seriously nigh, and just like everyone else on the list he must now earn his spot in the side, rather than being the automatic selection he was for so many years.

A new coach could be great, if he can help him to recapture some of the form we know that he is capable of.

But his absence for the rest of the season is a good thing, in my opinion, given it opens up a (once untouchable) spot for one of those youngsters that we all hope will take us ahead in the years to come (and those pushing to stay). And it will be great to see what they are capable of over the next couple of months.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
